***CORRECTION*** We were wrong about the RX. With the AR637TA RX the Super Timber comes equipped with...you have 6 actual ports, but 3 other "Virtual/Function" channels. So...you CAN have a full span aileron mix, Thrust Reverse, and AS3X/SAFE on switches with the stock RX (If your TX has the channels)...no need for a larger RX to get all the options/functions.
You'll see AUX2, AUX3, etc. depending on how many channels your TX is. Just assign that function to one of those on whatever switch you want...which for reverse thrust is handled in the Avian programming.
@thomasedwards629 For crow and full span ailerons...yes. If you just want one or the other, no. With the 6 channel (6 actual ports), you can y the ailerons and isolate the two flap servos for full span ailerons, or y the flaps and isolate the ailerons for crow. To have both... you have to isolate all 4... then you need more channels (ports).
I'm in love with my Super Timber. I put on DuBro tires, took off the slats and vortex generators. Flies better than any plane I have. Fast as a jet on full throttle, and as slow as a kite with flaps and no throttle. Takes off on a dime. She's acrobatic as well. She's a dream. I have jets, and all I want to do is fly my Super Timber.
I learned to fly both fixed and rotary wing model. During this process I crashed numerous times. My time and money could have been avoided with AS3X and SAFE. I viewed these training aids as a crutch but not any more. They will save you money and air time.
They can be a crutch...or a training aid. All in how you use it. To be fair, if someone wants a crutch, and they are having fun...I reckon that is alright as well.
Maybe it's just me but - at least with Timbers - I think SAFE enables slower flying than fully hands on can achieve so I will often switch it on just to see how slow I can mooch around with flaps.
@@infinitesky-59 For sure Timbers will fly slow even at a lower angle of attack, but It's just you. SAFE limits control throw. I can get any plane (including Timbers) at a higher angle of attack (slower) out of SAFE than I can in it. You need the elevator and rudder throw combined with throttle modulation to get as slow as a plane is capable of flying.
@@ModelAV8RChannel It's me being lazy Adam. As only an occasional flyer now I just find slow fly steadier and easier in SAFE especially with something like a Timber X but If I was a more regular flyer I might well have eventually got better than the artificial aids.

Nice plane thanks for your detailed review as always! The big question for me being that it’s HH is how long it will be until it’s discontinued and the parts support dries up. Their products tend to have very short life cycles.
Thanks very much! So, to be fair that is a very broad statement, and not totally true. HH has had plenty of planes sell for a very long time. How they sell determines the lifespan. Great sellers like Timbers sell a long time, and because they sell so well (top selling model ever maybe) they get updated as they get feedback as to what customers want. Planes that don't sell well get discontinued, and on occasion it can be an issue with factories in China. Sometimes they won't make spare parts for a plane that isn't in production. This one has everything, and I suspect it will be in production a while.

Great! Just came back to the hobby after 10 years 😫 what transmitter is good to do those reverse thrust? Im starting from scratch in this hobby and i need a decent Transmitter..
Nice review Adam. How would you compare it with the Balsa Timber Sws? Would be an interesting comparison between those two since this one is half the price of the sws and easier to put together.
Yep, that is the advantage of foam...less expensive and easier to assemble, although the SWS is cake to assemble for a balsa model. The SWS's advantage is what you'd expect from a big balsa bird. It has more presence due to the shear size, it is much more resistant to hangar rash, and is still the most precise Timber I've ever flown. That said the ST is the most precise foam Timber by a good bit, and it reminded me of the SWS in that respect. The ST has some other clear advantages. It has the potential to be much better at 3D/XA aerobatics with the full span aileron option, but with sport aerobatics they are pretty evenly matched. It has much better gear and is a better pure STOL/bush plane. It has much better lights. The interchangeable slats are key...being able to take them off for aerobatics and put them on for STOL/bush flying is significant. Obviously the new light inflatable wheels are amazing...and can improve the SWS as well as they will fit it. Bottom line is there are legit reasons for both depending on who you ask and what they are looking for. I haven't flown a bad Timber...they are all good given what they are and the genre they are in. Best selling rc plane line in history for a reason. We has passed on most of the sport/bush planes we've been sent and reviewed to other deserving modelers...we just don't have room to keep them all. The ST and SWS are both still in our hangar. What does that tell you...
@@ModelAV8RChannel thanks for your opinion. Currently I fly the Turbo Timber. Great plane but needs a nit more power and quicker roll rates. So have to think if it is a good idea to get the Super Timber or if it is time to step up to the balsa SWS.
Hey my friend I have a question when I set up all 3 flight modes off/as3x and safe when I put it in safe on the ground the elevator goes up but when I level the plane the elevator goes towards neutral but not actually center and I was wondering if that is just the way safe is on this bird? When I put in as3x the elevator goes center and off its center but when in safe and I level the bird the elevator still seems up?? wonder if that is just the way it is???
SAFE should always move the control surfaces in the direction that levels the plane. At level they should be neutral (centered). From what you're describing the elevator is moving the wrong way. On the wheels the nose will be up naturally, so SAFE *should feed in down elevator to bring the tail up to center the plane.
@@ModelAV8RChannel thanks bud, i got it figured out. Idk what i was thinking. I see when its just sitting there on the back wheel in safe the elevator rises up a bit and when i raise the tail it goes more center. Idk what i was thinking when i asked that question. Thanks again for the feed back.
Happy to help if I can man. I think I was confused about what you're referring to. You're saying the elevator raises in SAFE when it's on its tailwheel. I'm thinking the back of the elevator...so up elevator...which is wrong. You're probably talking about the elevator counter balances on the front...which would mean down elevator (to raise the tail to level), and that is correct.
Great video as always, Someone had one of these at the field yesterday first one i have seen in person, not a good pilot but it was good looking enough sitting on the ground i ordered one today. Can you tell me how much the 3200mAh 6S pack your using weigh. every single site online says 400-499G that isn't the way to list weight. Guessing your using the 30C one? if not let me know the one your using. Thanks
Hey Chris. I use both the 3200 30c and the 50c. Flies good on a 4000 as well. Weight of the 3200 is around 17 to 18 ounces. Doesn't really matter the weight, its a big plane with a big wing...any 3200 will be fine and even lighter 4000's.
How easy are the tires to pop? If you fly in a field that has a lot of goat heads (thorns) well they pop those babies? And if it happens do they repair easy?
Nice and informative video nice flying too In my humble opinion the landing gear needs re do,,, the mounts in the fuse should not be plastic they will fail I know many flyers who are always needing spare parts for the gear Which can be on back order Otherwise great plane
Thanks! Actually the mounts in this one are proven. New for Timbers, but not exactly new. They are made the same way (and size) as the mounts on the Carbon Z Cub V2 are, and those have been around a long time and have proven to hold up very well on a plane that is actually heavier than the Super Timber.
You know your altitude via your RID module if you're not flying at a FRIA. They are a complete GPS system. altitude, speed, etc. At a FRIA the altitudes are higher.
Hey Adam, I went with a Spektrum AR8360T and separated my ailerons and flaps.. which gives me CROW. I have yet to maiden my ST.. thoughts on CROW for this airframe?
That is cool. I now have full span ailerons as well, but didn't change the RX to get crow. I had crow on my Legacy Turbo Bushmaster. It's cool to keep it from gaining too much speed on a down line. You just have to know when to get rid of it if you're trying to use it to come down steep and land. It blocks the tail out on some planes and you can't get it to round out and flare.
@@ModelAV8RChannel thanks Adam.. excellent advise.. I didn’t think about the tail impact. I was more thinking the possible 3D effects CROW would give the ST when prop hangin her.
Technically you shouldn't need crow to hover it, maybe snap flaps to pop it into the hover quicker. Once you're there the normal 3 axis should be able to hold it fine if you have full span ailerons. All that said, playing with the crow and seeing what you can do with it should be fun.
Honestly it's less about the stance and more about the size of the rudder, the tail moment, and the pilots skill level. It has a big rudder and a long tail moment so it is easier to handle than many. I'm pretty good at using rudder, so for me it takes off and lands fine in the wind.
Brilliant walk thorough and off course expert flying. It looks like they have got all the good parts from other planes and put them into a orsum Timber. I wonder when it will hit the UK. 🫡
AeroScout BNF with a Spektrum NX8. The NX8 will have capabilities that will take you through very advanced airplanes. You can use a cheaper, less capable TX to fly the AeroScout, but you will find yourself needing an upgrade soon.
That may be perfect. The actual math says 14x6 is the prop, but I think if you check the amps in the air with telemetry you'll be fine with that prop. Just keep an eye on the amps and temps on a hot day.
It was 95 at the field this afternoon. I flew for nine and a half minutes on a 6s 5000 mah battery witch took it down to storage charge. I could hold my finger on the motor as long as I wanted it was hot but it didn't burn me . This is an amazing plane flys great and is super easy to get ready to fly when you unload it .
It is. The capability along with the quick detach wings, full span aileron option, interchangeable slats, and the gear with inflatable tires...hard to compete with that with any foam bush plane.
Well, it isn't a scale plane to be fair, and that would require more weight and $. Think of windows in a foam plane like a convertible car. When you remove the top of a car...you are removing an important part of the structure, so more reinforcement has to be added to make it as strong as it was. That is why the convertible version of every car is heavier than the regular version. Same with a foam model. The foam where the window stickers are is part of the structure supporting the wing/fuse connection. You take that away, you have to add more reinforcement (weight) to make it as structurally sound as it was before you cut all that away. That costs more to develop and design. Not really worth it on most sport planes.
@@ModelAV8RChannel yeah, I'm with you on those points. Just me daydreaming🤠 Great review btw! Loved the pneumatic tires! I'm impressed with the weight on those😮 I use Xfly Tasman wheels on my SuperCub, but those are closer to 80 grams a piece.. I have far less bounce leaving them slightly deflated like you pointed out. It also helps avoiding nose-overs, since it's easier to run over stuff with soft tires.
@BartBochenski Well, if we are being honest... I'd have had to pop one to know that, which I didn't. Keep in mind that this was filmed before the plane was released. Nobody had popped one, and knock on wood... I still haven't.
@@ModelAV8RChannel it depends on how much of a squid you are. Iv gone threw 2 sets dumb thumbing my landings on rocky roads. If you land good they work great.
@@hotheadedfilmshhf6734 Well thats true of most planes/parts. Better the pilot, better the chances of success rather than failure. That said we all have our bad days...
All rubber tires should be aired up and measured with cloth tape for total circumference not by psi , too tight I found they'll bounce too much during landing
This setting alters how sensitive the sticks are around the center point. It does not alter the total throw of the servo movement. It alters the default linear curve to one that either is less sensitive (positive expo) or more sensitive (negative expo) around the middle point.
@@ModelAV8RChannel thank you for the explanation, I’ve been wondering what that meant for some time. I’ve got an NX8 setup the way I like it. And a timber evo 1.5. I’m new to all this but trying to get all the advantages I can. Can you recommend expo settings for a beginner?

Awww I would love to get this one free!
Lol , nice bird I'm pre ordering now.
Hope you enjoy it!
Adam you did again another great lookoing plane and if i can't see that in the sky time to quit lol Ivy hiding the credit card lol good video😊👍👍👍👍
Yes I am LOL😂, Great Video Adam!
It's awesome Frank! Get it when she ain't lookin', Lol!
@@ModelAV8RChannel lol thats the plan lol later buddy 😀😃😄
Adam great video my friend.
Thanks man!
How easy are the tires to pop? If you fly in a field that has a lot of goat heads (thorns) well they pop those babies?
And if it happens do they repair easy?
Not sure honestly. I've never flown it off things like that or popped one. I've flown off of grass, Geo Textile, dirt, and gravel. So far so good.
@@ModelAV8RChannel but ya have to admit it's a pretty good question.
Man it doesn't matter how strong they make stuff...RC pilots are talented. Somebody will find a way to break it! Lol
Nice review thanks
Thanks for watching!
Nice and informative video nice flying too
In my humble opinion the landing gear needs re do,,, the mounts in the fuse should not be plastic they will fail
I know many flyers who are always needing spare parts for the gear
Which can be on back order
Otherwise great plane
Thanks! Actually the mounts in this one are proven. New for Timbers, but not exactly new. They are made the same way (and size) as the mounts on the Carbon Z Cub V2 are, and those have been around a long time and have proven to hold up very well on a plane that is actually heavier than the Super Timber.
It sucks that with the feds 400’ altitude limit, that e-flite is still not equipping their products with the 637T so you know your altitude.
You know your altitude via your RID module if you're not flying at a FRIA. They are a complete GPS system. altitude, speed, etc. At a FRIA the altitudes are higher.
Hey, plausible deniability.😂
FYI i pulled the trigger with your link.
Thanks man...you'll love it. I do!
@@ModelAV8RChannel Yeah just waiting on it to ship.
What C rating on the 4s 5000 spectrum battery did you use, 30 ot 50C ?
50c
Being that the Stance is rather High, How is the ground handling in a breese?
Honestly it's less about the stance and more about the size of the rudder, the tail moment, and the pilots skill level. It has a big rudder and a long tail moment so it is easier to handle than many. I'm pretty good at using rudder, so for me it takes off and lands fine in the wind.
Brilliant walk thorough and off course expert flying. It looks like they have got all the good parts from other planes and put them into a orsum Timber. I wonder when it will hit the UK. 🫡
Thanks Chris! Yes sir...this one is super. Lol
An interesting mix of the Twin Timber wing on the original Timber body. Love the colours on it. Looks like it's another winner. Nice flying, Adam ☺
Thank you Gina! Love this one, really enjoying it!
What is a good beginner plane and radio to buy?
AeroScout BNF with a Spektrum NX8. The NX8 will have capabilities that will take you through very advanced airplanes. You can use a cheaper, less capable TX to fly the AeroScout, but you will find yourself needing an upgrade soon.
What propeller is best for 4s power on this beast? Mine is on the way.
Haven't tested yet. I'd start with a 15x7 two blade (that is what the HH electric guru told me).
Can this landing gear be put on balsa timber?
No, but the Tires can, and that is all the SWS needs. Got a set coming for mine.
"XOAR PJN 14x7 14 Inch 2 blade Adam I ordered this prop for the super timber.
With your experience how do you think it will preform with this prop ?
That may be perfect. The actual math says 14x6 is the prop, but I think if you check the amps in the air with telemetry you'll be fine with that prop. Just keep an eye on the amps and temps on a hot day.
It was 95 at the field this afternoon. I flew for nine and a half minutes on a 6s 5000 mah battery witch took it down to storage charge. I could hold my finger on the motor as long as I wanted it was hot but it didn't burn me . This is an amazing plane flys great and is super easy to get ready to fly when you unload it .
Hello ! How does it compare with the "same size" Avios Grand Tundra that you've reviewed 2 years ago ?
Both are great airplanes, but when you compare the features the ST is well ahead.
@@ModelAV8RChannel Thanks ! The fuselage also seems waaay thinner on the ST
It is. The capability along with the quick detach wings, full span aileron option, interchangeable slats, and the gear with inflatable tires...hard to compete with that with any foam bush plane.
Will the tires fit on the arrows bigfoot
Watch at 11:35 That plane will have smaller diameter, shorter axles.
Very good review, Yet another timber Tug has to buy LoL
I know right! They keep making them better!
If only they made a proper scale cockpit with lexan sheet windows for us FPV bush flyers🙏🤠
Man these tires are SO nice! Been waiting on something like them a while...
Is this ok for a beginner?
I think it is better as a second plane. HobbyZone AeroScout for a beginner.
@ thank you !
How about the fms mule ?
Why are you not flying with 6S 5000 mah battery?
@@andrewbaerm.d.3984 I prefer the way the airplane flies when it's lighter.
@@ModelAV8RChannelThat is interesting. I'm relatively new...no 3d...I just picked up 5000s...4s and 6s
It will fly fine on 5000's. Long flight time too. Bit of a different feel, but fine.
You forgot to mention, that they are very easy to pop, if we going to be honest.
What does expo mean?
This setting alters how sensitive the sticks are around the center point. It does not alter the total throw of the servo movement. It alters the default linear curve to one that either is less sensitive (positive expo) or more sensitive (negative expo) around the middle point.
@@ModelAV8RChannel thank you for the explanation, I’ve been wondering what that meant for some time. I’ve got an NX8 setup the way I like it. And a timber evo 1.5. I’m new to all this but trying to get all the advantages I can. Can you recommend expo settings for a beginner?
This or fms p18
Both really great airplanes. For me personally, this.
Holey Timber
Freaking awesome.
Oh look... another Timber 😂
Yep, and it will sell well just like the previous Timbers. To be fair, this one is quite different.
