    Mr. Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner, I have never heard it put so simple but with such power! You're not a man until you treat a women well. Any society that doesn't treat women right will never grow up. Treat women as they should be treated as equals. I pray that all little girls grow up to find their Sting. Thank you. We're all simply looking for love , protection and affection. Izzy.B

      wrong! it is just a way to justify bad choice that people do.
      women can say same: they feel that are not attractive being wise, calm, decent...
      most of them, women and men, don't look further, over the years, want just to live the present moment.
      adrenaline matter and other hormons.

    To be a man is to have respect for your fellow people. Treat other men as your peers, and treat women as your equal.

    To be a man is to be a self-responsible adult, which is to treat yourself with kindness and compassion, and to treat others well. To be a woman is the same; to treat yourself and others with kindness and compassion. Not much of this going on out there, sadly.

      It's funny, I had the same observation a few months back. When you ask random people what being a man means, they will most likely describe the distinction between a boy and a man, not between a man and a woman.

    • @Bikewithlove
      @Bikewithlove 8 років тому +1

      +Guillaume Bourgault - That's because women in so-called developed countries have a similar immunity from responsibility as children (but we can't talk about that). I've noticed that cultural oppression against women in the past or elsewhere in the world seems to translate to females in developed countries having liberal access to victimhood status and being allowed, and even expected, to be irresponsible. This erroneous belief system facilitates womens' social and financial conquests without regard for the importance and real wealth of authentic companionship. The fact that men can't possibly solve problems for women who don't want to look for the solution to their problems in the mirror probably has something to do with women being so unhappy with men.

    Much as I like Sting and some of what he has to say in this presentation, there's far more to being a man than respecting women, "Paradoxically" or not. While I agree with him, to a point, there are many other ways a man needs to be, in order to consider himself an adult "Man" and in reflection, that our communities also see us as such. One of the most fundamental ways of being a man, is in respecting ones self and the whole of community around us. By doing so we become integrated and useful as men to our communities. From our relationship to women, to children, to elders, to nature, to work and everything else in between. Including how we as men, then go about initiating our younger men/boys into the responsibilities of manhood, and also by supporting women to do the same with young women/girls.

      @gabalw.3992 8 років тому +1

      True. I am nevertheless glad he highlighted the relation to women. Cause many (men and unfortunately even women) don´t even understand the meaning of the word "equality" when it comes to gender issues but wrongly refer to the physical and psychical differences. When in fact, equality between men and women only means that none of them is inferior or subordinant. And a man, who doesn´t get that, isn´t a man in my eyes, no matter if he fulfills every other criteria. Such a man is still an immature boy.

    How does a girl go from a girl to a woman? A woman can be successful in the military, get a great education, build a great career in the business world, be powerful and independent, become an elite athlete or learn to fire guns. None of these things will make her a real woman. The love, respect and compassion she learned from her father is the very thing that will make her a true woman. To become a woman the measure is how she treats men.

      The problem is that I truly believe that current UK society is NOT treating men fairly. I have an ongoing feud with a certain Literary Festival in the UK about my nearly getting thrown out of a session last year which I’d gone to by mistake ( long story ) where 2 women authors were promoting ‘ The Sisterhood ‘ and making dreadful derogatory jokes about men, and I basically stood up for men . This year the same Literary Festival has a woman Doctor talking about her new book out on breast cancer and another with a couple of women writers talking about ‘ humorous ‘ books they’ve written about men, but they NEVER have sessions on mens health or why the suicide rate amongst young men is phenomenally high , and if men told the same type of jokes women writers are allowed to tell against men, they’d be called misogynists !
      So, as in Animal Farm, ‘ all animals are equal , but some are more equal than others’ but now we have ‘ all humans are equal, but women are clearly more equal than men ‘. It makes me furious, cos when I fought my way up as a young woman ( more years ago than I care to remember ! ) doing a ‘ man’s job ‘ in a ‘ man’s would ‘ this is not what I would have wanted or EVER envisaged !

    I love him too. Some mothers, however are neglectful and narcissistic. So a man has to learn in juxtaposition to the experience he grew up with.

    Meh, this stuff sounds so fake to me. I get the point but I don't think it has anything to do with 'women'. Being a man is about treating EVERYONE well and that includes, women, children, animals etc. but it's also about making a difference in the world at the same time. Just being nice to people while you sit on your armchair watching telly and wasting your life will never make you a man.

    Brilliant recognition that you’re not a man til you treat women well and recognise that they’re your equal . And that a mature society is one which recognises that women should be treated equally and properly too ! Good on you’re Sting - well done ‘ pet ‘ , yer a ‘ canny man ‘ - sorry , can’t type the Geordie accent accurately ! 🤷‍♀😡😂🤬

      Hopefully the others will listen to him. He is sensitive to the needs of women and must surely know true love for his wife. That more men on the planet could overcome the difficulties presented by the complexities inherent in relationships with women and reach some sort of enlightenment through meditation and yogic practices as Sting obviously has... it would evolve this planet, and maybe his dream of healing would be realized. Simple approaches according to the knowledge of the ancients. Clean lines is godliness for example. Respect for this man. We are lucky to have him.

    • @marlisholmes3108
      @marlisholmes3108 10 років тому

      Sorry mistake in that last posting. ?*CLEANLINESS. BE PHYSICALLY CLEAN. SEXUALLY CLEAN. EMOTIONALLY CLEAN AND SPIRITUALLY CLEAN. Challenge to the people. Overcome the pain of dirty experiences and reach for wisdom and personal enlightenment. These are the ancients messages known in scripture. Sting must have all this behind him, he has the countenance of a man who has wisdom through experience.

    His argument is dependent on how he defines women as something other than a man. The same can be said of children and animals for that matter.
