- Il Palagio, a 400-year-old villa in Tuscany, is a summer house that the singer-musician Sting, and his wife, Trudie Styler, bought for a song or two. They've fixed it up, and brought the olive groves, vineyards and vegetable gardens back to life. Sting and Trudie talk with correspondent Alina Cho about music, raising a family, and revitalizing a cherished homestead.

I met him years ago in a restaurant in a little hamlet in Italy ( Cereseto in the province of Parma) We were sitting at the next table and we started talking to him. He is a thoughly nice guy !!! Wishing him and his family much happiness in their lovely home.

He is definitely worth his money and worked for them and thoroughly deserves it (not that he needs our approval). It is the government officials and their cronies stealing our taxes that should be audited and reviled, not artists who created so much value!
as an Italian, I am deeply honored that Sting and his family, live in Italy. I believe that no one has his ability to convey emotions with his songs. For me, simply the best. I went to listen to him live in my northern city of Italy but it is when I go to vacation in Tuscany that his songs touch deeply. Thanks Sting, for the music you give us.

Sting and The Police were more than music. They were a time that took me from late teens to early twenties, possibly the most important time in a young man's life.
....and a young girls life too. I was devastated when they broke up and spent a small fortune to see them again in July of 2007. Worth every penny.

Tuscany is beautiful, and the fact that Sting and his wife have a home there is truly amazingly as beautiful as his songs!
Sting lives in Tuscany? He is so damn smart and rich! What a beautiful property! I like how they have revived the place and brought it back to life! Brilliant! Sting lives the Good life and he deserves it because he wrote great songs and has an incredible work ethic! He has literally played thousands of gigs and keeps going strong! He grew up poor and nobody handed him anything. He made his way up by his own initiative and working his way up to great success with the Police and then Solo! I think people who are talented should be rewarded well!
I just don’t like it when I see mediocrity rewarded like what I see these days.
But Sting deserves everything he has because he worked for it and earned his success! Kudos to Sting for a life well lived!

What a shortsided vision. For "your money" you got music on albums or live in concerts, so, you got a product that surely he spent months working on. So it is HIS money, not yours.
@Fede Brown: No, it's Water's money, like it or not. It's tottaly another thing that his money was spent on the right thing and I agree it was, that's why he freely decided to buy that product (albums). Paying tax is a different story, where we are FORCED to give away.

I remember hearing Stu Copeland talk about the first time he visited Sting at his Villa covered here. Stu nicknamed it "The Magic Stingdom".

I’m impressed because he has chosen to do something of value in restoring that villa, instead of getting his astronaut wings for going “to space” for 3.5 minutes….. Or some other such horseshit theatre.
It’s certainly a much more relatable endeavor for me, as I have renovated a couple houses myself.
Never forget seeing Sting on his first solo tour in the U.K. around 1985. He put an amazing band together. (Recorded - Dream of the blue turtles ) One of the best musical nights I’ve ever enjoyed. Jazz/pop/rock heaven.

@@cortical1 Yes. Great live album. If it’s any consolation I had a ticket for The Allman brothers in the early 70’s and they cancelled their U.K. tour. The worst however was aged 13 going in to school and hearing that one of my class mates had been to see Free the night before. They split up not long after. Visited beautiful San Francisco many years ago and was too jet lagged to go see Daniel Lanois. Grew up, like most with a love of US music/culture. Lived there in my head as a kid. 😀

I'm a huge fan girl. In 2004, I was working a show at the Ford Amphitheater in Tampa. Sting was warming up. I was so close to him. I didn't interrupt him, just listened. I'll never forget it!

Well I hope so, since it was vacant and in bad shape. They poured a lot of money into it and hired craftsmen and the small town people to help them rebuild it. It help the economy of the town so I hope whoever buys it has the money to continue to help employ the town people.

I appreciate that this video was first posted only two weeks ago today. Sting's home and the grounds are really breathtaking to look at, especially from the aerial view of the grounds with the rainbow at the very top of the backdrop.
This interview had so much more potential than was reached by this reporter. Her style clashed with them in every way. I was wishing Jane Pauley has taken this assignment.

my aunt and uncle , told me that stings dad was their milkman and sting would help his dad deliver the milk around the old shipyard town ( walls end) in newcastle.

Always liked him the best with the Police but there is no doubt that he has remained one of the best songwriters/composers in modern rock/pop history. I have no problem with him having this luxurious lifestyle as he has worked extremely hard for his money and donates a lot of his $$$ and time to many different charitable causes. Sting is the man.

Wow, what a place to live, Tuscany is beautiful and they have a huge chunk of it. She looks like she's had surgery, her cheek bones look like they are going to pop.
Beautiful home and lands! Wonderful outlook. We should always keep in mind that we are merely caretakers of the land for the next generation. The next generation will be responsible for the land for the generation to follow. To bad we act like everything belongs to us and we are free to abuse it as we wish! I didn’t give it much thought at the time but it was stunning to see photos of how clean our oceans were, how clear the air was and how clean the streets were during the height of the pandemic. I spoke to a hospital house keeper during that time and she said the place was much cleaner without visitors, easier to take care of and she didn’t have to put up with a bunch of crap coming from people. No surprise there.

Reviving an estate like that is a lot better than what many rich people do with their money.
A 400 year-old Tuscan Estate is well worth restoring because it’s a historical structure so I agree with you.
