First and foremost: check the fuel pressure. That causes more stalling and odd running problems on these bikes than any other. Any bleed down is caused by the O rings and transfer tube on the pump assy. California fuel eats those o rings in five years or less (even Viton). Next: make sure the intake seals are good or fresh if in doubt. Make sure the throttle body gasket is tight against the manifold and not cracked or compromised. Make sure the rubber cap on top of the throttle body is still good (normally goes to the tank vent system on California models). After that, put some miles on it.
