Something so timeless about this. I don't even think many people are alive today who originally heard this kind of music on the radio, but it takes you back to that much more simple time.
Think about how age works. People in their 90s that are definitely alive, would be in their 20s by the 1940's.

Aw - went thru a box of ornaments at my mom's at Thanksgiving and brought home some of those great old glass Christmas balls my gramma must have used to decorate the tree for my dad a little boy in the late 1940s. This makes me imagine my grandparents decorating the tree for my dad. He was an only child until he was 10 and was born in 1943. After he went to bed, they would decorate the tree on Christmas Eve so that it was all set up Christmas morning when he got up. What a magical time it was for kids in the day before all the entertainment and ultra mental stimulation that most kids go through today every day.

“Desiderium” means an ardent desire or longing, eso for a feeling of something lost. But I like anemoia better because it has a more gentle connotation.

I recognized the "Jingle Bells" (at about the -2:00:40 mark), which is from the series of "Screen Song" cartoons released by the Paramount Studios (this one from December, 1949). Each "Screen Song" featured a well-known song with chorus and orchestra, using the old "Follow the Bouncing Ball" device. Thanks for your wonderful video/audio compilations. LR
