Past the 20m mark of any run my eyes just gloss over. I don't even look at my actual character, I just can't. I "aim" the centre of my screen to be away from enemies. It's so chaotic, even with dmg numbers and screen flashing disabled. I love this game.
Some things that Dex might learn to love about the new engine: - much higher projectile limit - wacky video potential playing as two characters at once - seemingly allows way faster limit break levelling! Impressive if you play at 120hz - the transparent borders on the left and right mean you can see more enemies and videos are a proper 16:9 aspect ratio
So there are a couple of "issues": -projectile limits were already increased in the beta as far as I remember, but limit break stats were reduced (e.g. instead of 1 damage, you only get 0.5 damage, I hope they reverted that back to how it was) -the two character at once sadly only works with 2 different input devices, already tried to get around it -the faster leveling speed heavily relies on hardware, e.g. my performance on the beta (by beta I always refer to the latest build before the engine switch) was clean with Sammy while it completely lagged out on the engine, but many others had this in reverse or that none could make Sammy work -the transparent border is a really nice addition, though I am not sure why it has to look different to the rest. It's still nice to no longer have the black bars instead
@@DexTag Discord users have told me that the 0.5 damage for limit breaks has always been the case internally, and that the old label which said "1" was an outright lie. You would know better than me or some randos though, considering how much you've pored through the game code :P I also assumed you own a controller, that's a shame if you don't. It's funny to try stuff with Megalo Menya on the team because it's impossible to game over before the time limit.

Here's a suggestion for a video concept: Two Weapon Limit Break? Yes, we won't get a weapon to the absurd levels that you are getting it to, but there may be interesting things that can happen between two weapons that can allow for even crazier things to happen in the game. Since there's overlap with Arcanas and passive items, there could be some interesting things that could be found or discovered with a method like this.
I had thought about this for a while, but the real issue is that you are constantly trying to outrun the insane growth enemies have. Since there is always 1 weapon better than the other, you are forced to include a worse weapon (as in, no weapon is exactly on the same damage growth per minute). And even far worse, many weapons have more upgrades to them, which means the other weapon won't appear a lot. So one weapon with 5 upgrades is on average roughly 3x more likely to appear than a weapon with just Might (I say roughly 3x because the weight for limit break level ups differs). That said, I will reconsider this option. Funny enough I thought about exactly doing that with Moon and another weapon, but the issue is that amount on Moon is very rare and since Moon kills almost everything all the time, the purpose of the second weapon is only to kill bosses, but it cant. If we reach the same level, the bosses have millions of HP.
@@DexTag While that is a respectable response, I suppose this would be best done for when mods return and you can do something with Random (Balanced) on the limit break. That being said, what about something like NO FUTURE or Infinite Corridor with Glorious moon?
@@DexTag True. I'd say that this is a "core issue" with the game and until the devs see it as asinine to have "damage immunity to x" it's a loose-loose situation. HoT is a different beast because you simply CAN'T push anything past a certain limit, and that happens sooner rather than later. Even with a good pick on items you run out of damage upgrades fast enough, so it becomes more of "how few weapons do i need to achieve maximum synergy AND not run out of damage upgrades?". Sadly, past-Agony it became all but messed up. Trust me when i say it that even if you're hard cheating on the 2x flasks you don't come even close to the "feel good" sensation of pre-Agony. The demo was a bit too harsh (but fair), the full game was a bit too easy, post-Agony it just feels not great and aggravating on top.
That, or pausing the game or something. The thing is this "issue" is so rare (the only time I've seen it being an issue were in gold farms and here), so I don't even think it's worth the time to change that. But yea, I agree
Hey Dex, maybe try this very run with Laurel, and get Wicked Seasons as your third arcana. I made it to level 22k in Abyss Foscari, level 18k in Capella Magna etc. Still a horrible slog in the beginning, but Blood Astronomia makes it a little more bearable and later on the added immortality via Tome and Silent Old Sanctuary really helps a ton 😇That lets you chill and watch the numbers go up up up 😄 (edit: I mean in Inverse Mode so you can pick two arcanas right at the start)
Haha, I tried to wait out the endless levelups in Lake Foscari after the 30 min were up. A little over 90 minutes later, and at around level 135k, I couldn't even quit the run because the game just died right then and there! 😆
Dex, it's 100% possible in the hardest stage, Abyss Foscari, I just did it in the new engine Your flaw is you're limit breaking way too early, you actually need all 6 slots with items, the 7th should be crown and then it's whatever stage items you need. Out of the 4 Arcanas you can acquire in the stage, Wicked Season should be last. Outside that i'll leave it to you unless you want me to fully spoil how I did it. : P Great content as always
I dont really see a way around the invincible bosses unless you take Wicked Season REALLY late, because the Curse ramp up is so much even normal enemies got through. Which kinda defeats the point of taking Wicked Season early, which has been an indirect rule in these. Once Wicked Season is dropped, any stage will work similar to in the video since enemies wont become faster. Blood Astronomia can carry for a while so I assume you went for Duplicator + Spinach, but unless Wicked Season is super delayed I dont see a way around the Curse scaling and doubling, unless the 1 boss was the only boss that spawned. Then Moon may keep him in check with the constant attacks
I did this starting with the Sarabande of Healing and the gold arcana as if i was going to farm gold. That does enough damage to kill bosses, the rest of arcanas were the one that powers up the damage when you have only one weapon followed by wicked season. Its tricky to get it started but as soon as you have all you need you basicaly kill everything until the curse overpowers you.
@@DexTag Here's the thing, enemies health and speed scale up, but their actual damage doesn't. What I did was go from Bloodline -> Awake and hoped I got Tiragesu very soon. Essentially the plan was to build up enough revivals so awake makes me tankier and tankier, thus I also went for the badge asap as well. Any chests that drop I leave alone and make sure pentagram doesn't wipe them out. I left crown for the extra pickup for the 7th item slot for moon and got moon straight away. Once I got moon I would leave any chests to be picked up for later. Thing is as you've seen the hardest part isn't killing, it's healing to stay alive, this is where the 3rd arcana Disco of gold Comes in, once you get low enough of HP just pick up a chest for max HP. (this won't happen when you are leveling like crazy though) At 11 minutes I got Wicked Season and then any other stage items you want. Thing is once Moon really goes off it's just a waiting game and nothing else matters, duplicator and spinach won't make a difference, you just need enough 'health, heals and revives to survive the onslaught as of course your level will be at crazy high levels soon and their HP is ridiculous.
@@mycharisbs Dex has said in multiple of his limit break videos that Divine Bloodline is a last resort for any weapon(meaning the weapon is just THAT bad.) Outside of Laurel Dex never used Divine Bloodline unless he had a purpose for it because he stated(which is true) that you can use any weapon and it will pass the "test" because you will become so tanky to the point that the weapon won't even matter anymore and you will just survive off your insane HP pool alone.
One way you can get wicked season working is by going into green foscari, picking up the arcana chest(s) and going into sammy land to stop leveling up because they dont give any xp Another perk of sammy land is that if you pick up too many heals at once, the invulnerability timer is stacked up so if you stand there for a minute, you can have an invulnerability timer of 30minutes
Lake Foscari has _no_ bosses that are immune to instant kill, FYI. Gaea is not immune to instant kill effects. Also I could be wrong but I don't think Might does anything for Blood Astronomia? It's just Amount that boosts damage, so you want Duplicator.
I love limit breaking Cosmo because I can use any weapon I want. With Pentagram I keeps dying from the boss but I have a million revives cuz I have thousands of levels lol.
Sometimes I dont understand the balance, there is so many broken weapons that clear the entire screen, weapons that you become immortal, immortals characters... but the problem is pentagram. Pentagram needs to be nerfed, unable to kill bosses, hard coded cooldowns
So they fixed this limit break. I remember last time you did this they “fixed” the limit break so it always re triggered only after one moon finished the attack.
Yea. Originally it worked flawlessly and without breaking. Then it randomly broke after random amounts of level ups - the theory was it ran out of limit break level ups, but amount is limited to a lot less (when it has a limit), so it must have been something else, like an overflow or so. Then when they "fixed" it, it could only have 1 active cycle which killed the joy in the weapon. Glad to have it back!
I would love to see the level configuration and setup as well, I can't replicate any of this. I erase enemies as fast as you and it takes me 20 min to get to level 100
I feel like they should make an update where ebemies tgat are immune to instant death effects instead take a aet amount of danage from them. The rosary actually works like tgat. If something is immune to its instant kill (like the atlanteans) it takes 1500 damage instead
Why didn’t you use laurel to prevent any damage? I think you would be immortal with tome and silent hill sanctuary, the downside is It would eat up a few levels but it’s good for when enemies are fast also I think cappella magna also has evolution chests from the first boss
Because it would be boring. It's all about challenges and testing if the weapon can win a game on it's own on the hardes mode possible(wicked season and inverse). Edit: And of course breaking the weapon in the most impressive way.
should have gone for library and start with bloodline and awake. yes you have to stick with pentagram for 10 min but if you take wicked season in 11 min you already have enough hp to survive the 25 min boss till the end. had 32.9G dmg in the end
Issue being Blood Astronomia is really weak. Like, astronomically weak. You will sometimes see numbers not within the 661-671 range, which is the actual HP of the enemies. With ~15 damage or so per hit, Blood Astornomia would need years to kill anything there
Reminds me of what ive been doing the last day. Im dumping a BILLION gold in Trousers to break the character! Ive put in about 200 mil. I farm with the same setup with the arcana to start gold rush. Ive maxed out at about 1.5 mil in 5 or less seconds. Its stupid. I can fully load out and upgrade in 8 seconds of game time.
I need to check but I think I did hit a Billion. Which part do you wish to learn Padawan? I pretty much max out garlic, pistols, holy water, and set to unlimited level ups. Find a nice spot and collect money for an hour or two. Then spend every cent on stat boosts. Ruin only one character for fun and then you will have an instant farm character for cash. @@dgayle2348
What's up with this level? When I left the game to play itself for 3 hours, I only got about 1000 levels (Ifrit in late game is very strong, -120% cooldown was after an hour of play, that is negative 20% cast speed from base speed

@@DexTag in abyss foscari you can get duplicator plus the badge and you become almost invincible. I've tested it because I'm doing all maps on all characters with the blood astronomia build and it's broken with the more amount you get. You can run a test contrasting base damage with +50% might (from spinach) versus the base damage +2 amount (from duplicator) and +4 amount (from duplicator+badge). Best regards.
If you banish a weapon before its maxed, does it still get limit break options? If it doesn't, or if you had so way to do that, you could opt for a low level garlic, not only does it enable ball jokes, but at low levels, the garlic would still help with the early game and let you break the lamps, but do pretty much nothing once the proper main weapon gets rolling
Is there somewhere to get a maxed out save file like yours? I would love to have it to screw around with on my phone. I will continue to keep my PC save legit and play through organically.
Doesn't Blood Astronomia also turn your magnet area into a damage field? So you can get experience orb and it'll very slowly whittle the bosses health down?
The issue is most bosses have a scaling health level. Like they start at for example 50 and then this gets multiplied with your level and curse. That means if I am level 8000 at 4000% Curse, that boss has 50x8000x41=16.4 million HP. If we assume 100 damage a second on Blood Astronomia (which is VERY generous given how low the attack was), this would take 164k seconds or 2733 minutes or 45.5 hours or close to 2 days to kill 1 boss. In other words, no way to kill him before the Reaper spawns and that nukes everyone, but also the bigger problem that the curse makes them too fast, and them consuming Moon attacks. The Curse % only applies to such a degree with Wicked Season, but even without it 50x8000=400k HP.
As well as the Wicked Season arcana. Under his health bar you can see its current buff. Mask is extra money, skull is extra curse, crown is extra exp, and clover is extra luck

This is normal, for example, I had a cooldown minus 120%, that is, if the base cooldown is 100 seconds, I reduce the cooldown by 120 seconds

Just got this working in my own game. It was so so soooo satisfying. Took me Iike 30 runs before I gave in and bought a few eggs for some revivals.

Then it randomly broke after random amounts of level ups - the theory was it ran out of limit break level ups, but amount is limited to a lot less (when it has a limit), so it must have been something else, like an overflow or so. Then when they "fixed" it, it could only have 1 active cycle which killed the joy in the weapon. Glad to have it back!
I would love to see the level configuration and setup as well, I can't replicate any of this. I erase enemies as fast as you and it takes me 20 min to get to level 100

I feel like they should make an update where ebemies tgat are immune to instant death effects instead take a aet amount of danage from them. The rosary actually works like tgat. If something is immune to its instant kill (like the atlanteans) it takes 1500 damage instead

When I used to play I used this on the guy with any weapon for gold farming would get pretty insane numbers if I let it go on long enough.
That was a lot of leveling up.

Why didn’t you use laurel to prevent any damage? I think you would be immortal with tome and silent hill sanctuary, the downside is It would eat up a few levels but it’s good for when enemies are fast also I think cappella magna also has evolution chests from the first boss
Because it would be boring. It's all about challenges and testing if the weapon can win a game on it's own on the hardes mode possible(wicked season and inverse).

should have gone for library and start with bloodline and awake. yes you have to stick with pentagram for 10 min but if you take wicked season in 11 min you already have enough hp to survive the 25 min boss till the end. had 32.9G dmg in the end

Kinda surprised you didn't keep Atractorb available for level up, as it makes Blood Astronomia better.
Issue being Blood Astronomia is really weak. Like, astronomically weak. You will sometimes see numbers not within the 661-671 range, which is the actual HP of the enemies. With ~15 damage or so per hit, Blood Astornomia would need years to kill anything there

Ive maxed out at about 1.5 mil in 5 or less seconds.

I need to check but I think I did hit a Billion. Which part do you wish to learn Padawan? I pretty much max out garlic, pistols, holy water, and set to unlimited level ups. Find a nice spot and collect money for an hour or two. Then spend every cent on stat boosts. Ruin only one character for fun and then you will have an instant farm character for cash. @@dgayle2348

What's up with this level? When I left the game to play itself for 3 hours, I only got about 1000 levels (Ifrit in late game is very strong, -120% cooldown was after an hour of play, that is negative 20% cast speed from base speed

Interesting you didn't understand the blood astronomia arcana to become more powerful with AMOUNT rather than spinach. But to each their own.

Both apply to it. The original plan was to take both, the run that is seen after the cut was after a ton of changing up things after stuff kept failing.
@@DexTag in abyss foscari you can get duplicator plus the badge and you become almost invincible. I've tested it because I'm doing all maps on all characters with the blood astronomia build and it's broken with the more amount you get. You can run a test contrasting base damage with +50% might (from spinach) versus the base damage +2 amount (from duplicator) and +4 amount (from duplicator+badge). Best regards.

If you banish a weapon before its maxed, does it still get limit break options? If it doesn't, or if you had so way to do that, you could opt for a low level garlic, not only does it enable ball jokes, but at low levels, the garlic would still help with the early game and let you break the lamps, but do pretty much nothing once the proper main weapon gets rolling

Doesn't Blood Astronomia also turn your magnet area into a damage field? So you can get experience orb and it'll very slowly whittle the bosses health down?
The issue is most bosses have a scaling health level. Like they start at for example 50 and then this gets multiplied with your level and curse. That means if I am level 8000 at 4000% Curse, that boss has 50x8000x41=16.4 million HP. If we assume 100 damage a second on Blood Astronomia (which is VERY generous given how low the attack was), this would take 164k seconds or 2733 minutes or 45.5 hours or close to 2 days to kill 1 boss. In other words, no way to kill him before the Reaper spawns and that nukes everyone, but also the bigger problem that the curse makes them too fast, and them consuming Moon attacks. The Curse % only applies to such a degree with Wicked Season, but even without it 50x8000=400k HP.

As well as the Wicked Season arcana. Under his health bar you can see its current buff. Mask is extra money, skull is extra curse, crown is extra exp, and clover is extra luck
It's gorgeous moon constantly bringing exp gems combined with the increased amount pet level, which causes it to drop even more exp.
