I was super impressed with this 2021 Toyota Tacoma and its off road capabilities. We were able to get this beautiful lunar rock color completely muddy! I know we don't have crazy terrain here in FL, but for the rutted out trails and all the mud we had, the Tacoma handle it really well! I was in 2wd and 4HI most of the time. I never had to use crawl control, or it's multi terrain select system. The fox suspension on this truck is SOOO smooth and plush. The stock goodyear tires are good, but not great. That would probably be the only upgrade I would make to this truck if I purchased one.

I went on my first off-roading trip with my cousin and brother, as the cameraman. I gotta say I had a lot of fun watching trucks going through big puddles and just seeing people laughing having fun. It was definitely an experience that I want to do again in the future.
It was fun wheeling with you guys! And I’m still cleaning mud out of the floor boards -Drew TJ guy
Hahah great time man! See you at the next one !
@@TRDJon what is the name of the group?
that's a really nice color! I love mudding much more the rock crawling!
We live in the Panhandle, and we just ordered a Lunar Rock 4Runner! I can’t wait to get out on the trails with it.
Will see you around!!
Just picked up a black trd pro even got the cat back exhaust. So ready to get in the woods and test her out. But I have a set of 235/85/16 MTs on order, those stock Goodyears look to tame for down here in central Fl.
Sick. Loved this trd pro content
Best video about offroad , it is true!!!!!
Done a lot of 4 wheeling in the mud , here in Morris County , northern New Jersey, back when I first brought my 1987 Toyota extra cab pickup , brand new ! I wish I could show you the photo of it when I first got it on here , it look 👀 like a 4x4 low rider (Lol 😂🤣😂🤣) she were a sweet ride , until a 3 inch body lift , aftermarket Torsion Bar lift , Downey headers for 22RE , aftermarket cam , running 33 BFG AT !
Very cool!
That guy with the TJ is gonna be getting mud out of there for months.
Jeep things. We don’t understand lol
Good to see 2 LX570’s off-roading, or the twin brother of the landcruiser 200 series. You don’t see them much off-road, they need to redesign it to be better off-road like the overseas versions. Our version here in the US is just a bigger Subaru, a “softroader” not a hardcore off-roader.
Really really hoping the rumor that toyota comes out with a stripped down off roader is true.
More than 5 trucks and it takes the fun out
@4:56 I like that Lexus (I think its a 570) with a hidden winch. That is definitely a nice group even the Lexus can off-road. I wonder if there's group like this around Denver CO where you off-road without damaging vehicles. True that one may argue that's part of the game but I like more of exploring type of tours vs technical driving.
I’m sure there is. I enjoy not ruining my 40k vehicle.
i went down a caliche road one way the decided in the way back to take the new route.... Thinking it was caliche... it wasn't lol. I was 3/4 of the way when my trd or started to fish tale. So I stopped an did 4H and it cut through... My heart was racing and the adrenaline was pumping.. I had 2 full water ditches on the sides (3 ft of water)... I was thinking "who am I gonna call for a pull out".. But, nope... The Taco did it job, & boy did it do it right.
Looks like the Elgin range. The day I got my 16 taco trd off road I took it out to get it dirty. The mud there stained the crap out of all the black trim lol
This was actually north of Eglin at black water
Your living your childhood dream but with big boy toys!
YES SIR!!!!!
Looks like a lot of fun but my recommendation to you would be if you’re going to keep doing this put rock sliders on your truck if you damage those rocker panels that’s gonna be super expensive.
Great suggestion!
I would not have guessed this was Florida. Looks like parts of eastern Washington. Looks like an awesome spot!
From the west as well and had no idea pines were out here like this
We call this “Real Florida”. This is what most of the state looks like, the postcards are misleading. 😆
I need the name of the song. It’s GREAT
Awesome truck!
It sure is!
Where can I go to check out these trails? In other words where are they located
Congrats on the channel growth man. Im still kicking around FWB too.. Want to get out to Utah. Where are yall at , on the reservation?
Awesome video
That’s man! I appreciate it!
Great video to wake upto. I think the trd pro is a great option if folks what a very capable vehicle and don't want to/are afraid to modify on their own.
Small lift, and upgraded suspension.
Did you use the 360* camera while on the trail? I remember you saying you weren't super impressed with the video quality on the road...
Yes I did! I think I will make a separate vid since this was a little long. And for some reason I couldn’t find that footage when I was editing. So it may have been lost. I’ll try to stitch it together if I find it.
@@TRDJon thanks Jon. I appreciate it. That 360 camera was on my must list until I saw that video of yours. Lol. Now I'm skeptical... Toyota just needs to upgrade the video display to a better resolution... And a larger portrait screen to incorporate climate controls too...
Cool video
Where is this in FL?
Good luck 👍
Thanks 👍
I really liked the music choice for this video. It's nice hearing something subtle, instead of the loud music that's in other off-road videos. I loved seeing that new Lexus GX getting dirty!
That Lexus was awesome!! Thanks it was hard to find this kinda music too!! So much was poppy vlog stuff that would not have flowed well
I saw that orange Tacoma at the dealership in Ft Walton today 😁🤙🏼
Not way! That's awesome! haha
@@TRDJon yeah man! I was having my remote reprogrammed on the TRD Pro. Figured the windows down option is a lot more useful than remote start lol.
I live in the panhandle as well. I’d like to go on these trails some. Where are these located if you don’t mind telling?
There are at blackwater state forest in Holt/Milton area
@@TRDJon Where exactly did you enter at? I live in Milton and have gone up in that area but your trail didnt look too familiar. I got the same exact truck and color a few months ago and have been taking it out the last few weekends, been a ton of fun!
Tbh I have no idea. I was just a follower. Wasn’t really paying attention
WOW, I knew the area looked eerily familiar.
I grew up in Milton, haven't been back since graduating High School in 1987.
Joined the Army and haven't been back.
I used to love riding bikes and taking my truck out in those areas.....Ahh, the memories
Hi mind if i ask what part of the panhandle you're from? I live in panama city
Nice! In the fort Walton beach/Destin area
Constructive criticism. If you look away from the camera your sound cuts out a little. You can either get a mic or make sure you stay facing the camera. Great video thank you for making it.
Thanks for the tips!
So if Toyota would let you keep the Tacoma in exchange for your 4 Runner would you swap?
Nah probably not. It would be a tough decision though
Where in Florida are you? I’m in Panama City Beach area and looking to get more into this kind of stuff
I'm in Destin
Jon, next time doing these types of off roading, can you tell us what gear you're on, while going through mud, climbing hills, etc.? Rear differential (when to use and when not to use)? 2wd, 4wg high/low when and where it should be applied? I'm new to 4x4 with my first ever pick up truck, 2021 Tacoma Off Road and looking for some adventure. Thanks.
Sure! Check out my recent Tundra off road vides, I talk about it a little more in those.
What group did you ride with in nw Florida?
Our Toyota pan handle group. We are on FB if you are in the area. Send me an email. bluetrdjon@gmail.com
Was that at Eglin AFB? Does your group have a Facebook page.
Yep! Fl pan handle off road Toyotas
This was black water
Awesome truck and video. I need to find a group in Ohio, or move west to Colorado lol.
There are groups everywhere! Try Facebook if you have it to find a group if you can! I’m sure there’s awesome offer a buddies in Ohio
Just bought a taco off road out of Ohio
@@dmmiller1991What part of the state are you in? I'm in the Dayton/Cincinnati area.
Do you suspect a TRD Sport would have handled the trip also?
Yes
nice video
I appreciate it!
did you air down? makes a world of difference off-roading! love the footage, hope to get my Tacomas' feet wet come spring! i don't mind the tires (Goodyears) but they are no good in the snow or ice!
I did not. I have never aired down here
No need to air down. That's mainly for rock crawling and steep inclines.
Where is this trail?
Black water state forest
This black water?
Yes it is
I want to know the address of that place please
Black water state forest.
Break the $65,000 truck! Break it
Get one of these next!!!ua-cam.com/video/F6OsBbgwzW8/v-deo.html this thing is a beast!

Is it just my Samsung s20 plus lagging in the beginning like frames dropping or is John's editor being bad again
Watched on an iPhone. No frames dropped throughout.
@@daeyoungkim9247 my phone was exporting a 10 minute 4k clip and it was live streaming on twitch, no body could hear me or see me but twitch was still live so I guess when your phone over heats it will drop frames while exporting and being live at the same time, if I had my iPhone 11 it would of crashed or turned the phone off due to "over heating", I honestly don't like iPhone there cameras are trash and coming from 120 refresh rate the iPhone feels laggy but I do miss my 8plus iphone
@@misterpimlott6330 iPhone and Pixel have the best cameras, you don’t know shit don’t you?
@@RagingBad apparently not to stupid, I did my research before I bought my phone.
Only if the price tag on the Tacoma was not so much and close to the Tundra price tag. I'll probably got one. Is just for that price tag mind as well get the Tundra in my mind.
Only if the Taco price tag was so much lower then the Tundra that can make me see the deal I'll buy one...
Yea they are really close
Its not about the price, its in what category you want to be, mid size or half a ton
Very true. Some are ok with the price cuz they don’t want that big truck 👍🏼
It's all preference actually. They both serve different kind of functions. You're not taking a tundra down some of those trails, and some people simply don't want a full size truck
@@terrynichol577 Yes what you say is some what correct and that some don't want that big truck and perfere the smaller taco regardless of the price tag. But most people I know also always won't realize what they truly need over what they want until they actually own one.
What you say is some what true. I know people that own the Taco and have no regret. I know people that own the Taco and immediately regret and traded for the Tundra. Then I've known people that complain why they got the big truck and that they didn't need such a big truck and traded their Tundra for the Taco just to see them later traded again for the Tundra again. But never the other way around.
Then their are people that I know that are like me that just see the price of the Taco not a reasonable price tag at all.
But if their is one thing that is fact is that all my Taco buddy would sometimes need to come use my Tundra because their Taco was not able to do certain work load jobs or their bed size Taco was not able to fit certain things.
Which is all cool by me as their friends but they will hear it from me everytime. Or how when we go on hunting and fishing road trips we always end up taking my tundra instead of their Taco over many reason.
I guess if your the type to LOVE going off road adventures and is what you do as a hobby then this Taco is good.
But if your not such a person then trust me get the Tundra.
Is that a beard or freckles!? Just curious...
Both ish??
