Excellent video, Gwem. You mentioned you turned off touch sensitivity. A quick reference on how to do that: select 'SENS.' under "MULTI" functions and set touch sensitivity as desired using the long buttons in the middle on the drum machine.

That thing hits just as hard as Yamaha RX5, in an even more industrial vibe. Those 12 bits converters ooze electricity... huge.

I picked one up for $50 and it works great👌 I run it through a Korg kaoss pad and synced to a korg electribe or iPad. Fun to jam around with. I live the slappy mechanical feel of the pads.

Just got this beast! It really sounds huge with the gated kicks and snares. Instant Italo/ Industrial. Together with a MC-202, it becomes so groovy! ... If only it was a bit more playable live....
So I was thinking... Build new volume sliders like the TR-707? or build encoder pots for the up/down switches so the onboard Multi (lvl,sens, tune & pan) can be used faster? Did you hear of anyone doing these mods?

I never heard of anyone doing those mods. But it seems like those should be very doable.

the drum banks are stored inside the drum machine
I’m a real Kawai fan so this One of the few vintage drum machine I really think about getting 🤔🤗- glad I’m not alone! thought I was only one who had soft spot for the Akai xr10!,( emulator also one of my fav80 drum sounds)- also don’t mind the even more obscure Akai XE8 (aside from its limp kick drum😊).

@@gwEmbassy not a drum machine, midi rack unit of ?16 or so sounds. Their first attempt at drums I think. expandable with 4 cards but cards hard to find

I have one. I got all things back to life by cleaning the buttons. I have 3 roms in it atm. Then you can do a full mute :) also have the 50e with other roms. Didn t try that yet. It had different tricks as far as I understand. Cool video, barely any on yt about it.

@@gwEmbassy I think it might be from Owner Of A Lonely Heart. Check out the official vid at 4:37. It's from 1983, so couldn't be the drum machine on the song. Or both sourced from a Fairlight?
