- Euro NCAP Frontal Impact takes place at 64 Km/h, 40% of the width of the car striking a deformable barrier. In the Full Width test, 100% of the width of the car impacts a rigid barrier at 50 Km/h. In the side impact, a mobile deformable barrier impacts the driver's door at 50 km/h. In the pole test, the car tested is propelled sideways at 32 km/h into a rigid pole.

Can definitely recommend the Toyota Yaris for safety; was in a crash 6 years ago where a driver ran into me at 60-70km/h & my vehicle was thrown into a tree. Super safe!

My Yaris' right side sadly looks like the left side in this video now. A few bruises and a scrape aside i'm surprisingly well. And yes, likely was hit with 50KM/h.

Safe for the seatbelts pretensioners too. With the 2014 one i've crashed head-on against a SUV around 25 mph in an intersection, i walked completely fine. The airbags didn't even explode

According to the published report, it's an only an audio warning. So at some point during that kind-of-useless video clip, the car went "ding".
Just had a neighbor killed in a head on…her Yaris with a hummer. There should be a minimum size and maximum size for vehicles. Yaris, Honda fit, chev spark, versa, fiat, smart car etc all these are to small. I don’t believe these sort of crash test are anywhere near what the actual head on hit is like. The speed zone they were in was a 70km so impact roughy 140km, her car looked like a pancake
SUVs are dangerous for anyone not in a SUV but a 140km impact is fatal regardless of what car you drive as the G-forces are too high for the human body to handle.

dude you can't judge the safety of a car by looking at a video, these people have accelerometers and sensors of all kinds to determine if a crash is fatal or not.
I agree. The head gets launched in the opposite direction with a worrying acceleration unlike in other cars.

Ok Yaris got a very good electronic safe system but look at real important test...crash test means how much is the vehicle safe in case of crash and Yaris is less safe than a Dacia and the punto is so much safer

The punto is just a piece of shit he dosen't have side airbag and rear dummies has hard injuries
Punto is shit by default being a Fiat but, aside of that, stars are awarded depending on the amount of g-force transmitted to the dummies, which decides between life and death. You're an assuming illiterate giving lectures about safety engineering.

@@Pier4216 Sorry dude, but it is the *force readings* on the dummies that award stars. The outside may be all destroyed but this counts for diddly as *any* car would be a write-off. Cabin compartment integrity is king, or else the dummies get squashed and the car gets *one* star or not at all.

szymon cesarczyk The star rating is based on how well the dummies hold up any injuries occurred. Being structurally solid in an accident is almost as bad as complete structural failure, because nothing has absorbed the impact and now your meat sack took all that inertia. A good example is to see the videos for the Smart car - a very structurally solid car but there’s nothing to collapse and absorb the impact. Or better yet compare with the Tesla video, the safest production car on the road with a 6 star rating, even that car has some form of structural collapse, they are engineered for this.
