Nice antennas. I like the balun underneath the boom on the 5 element.
U can put the balun under, on top, infront or behind the drive. Element. It's a choice. I've done the all ways.
The coax length used to mimic the swr reading at the source is any multiple of a 1/2 wavelength. Keeping the velocity factor of the specific coax in mind.

This situation is giving me a headache. It might be a bit much to ask, but I could really use some assistance. I have the A99 on my roof, and I get a 1.1 SWR on my Workman. However, I recently acquired a couple of amps, and I'm hesitant to run them without access to an analyzer. I might take the plunge and order one, but once I do, how do I ensure that all these pieces of equipment are safe to run? Is it as straightforward as checking the antenna with the analyzer, or should I check between each piece of equipment?
these things look sturdy, and not too unwieldy. Wouldn't mind having one at all.

This looks like a very nice YAGI design. It would be nice to see a star quad design, as you can achieve circular polarization...and that has advantages. As for pronouncing balun, remember it is a conflation of balanced and unbalanced. Since you don't pronounce balanced as baylanced, it is bALun (like the name AL in there).Retired EE, FWIW.

It's a maco antenna with a balun
Way different spacing than a maco, way different signal pattern than a maco, different front to back ratio, DB gain, bandwidth etc.
Parts are supplied by Maco. That's not top secret information or anything, but the antenna itself isn't anything like a maco. 🙂

OWA's and LFA'S have been in ham use for a long time id love to see the eznec plot on this thing you can get more gain tuning the directors a bit not bashing a bit and if use bigger dia elements it will get even wider bandwith
Others can play all they want. I'm sure they have money to spend an time. I am providing a antenna that is ready to go that has been tried true an tested with 30kw avg myself an one that has been tried with 70kwavg. My goals in this which have been for years is to help improve folks with less headache or experiments costing them unnecessary money an being misled. Everyone always has an idea an that's great but only on their dime in my opinion. I have seen with my own eyes that alot of the larger elements etc to be more of an unnoticeable difference for what the extra charge would cost a customer. Difference on a computer playing with elements for gain etc is easily done but one vs the other on the air is not some much noticable. Lots of debating in antennas but also on the other hand folks already wanna spend cheap as it is meanwhile wanting to buy something pre figured rather than do it themself while being cheap. Lol.
Cheapers already worry about weight windload etc. Lol they couldn't handle the thought of more weight money etc. Many variations. Just being affordable with proven specs an power capability along with a 70 plus channel flat spread in which many would even use all that.

In theory a coax from antenna-to shack- is of no importance. The coax is 50 ohms just your antenna must be 50 ohms and there is sometimes a problem.

Nice antenna but it wouldn't my 5 element Quad got some neighbor,s running 20 to 30 I'm in they business with 5 I don't need big watts anymore to get out
It's a good thing you don't need big watts because a quad won't hold what I consider big watts. I also don't care for cranking my antenna down after the wind blows. The only time my 6 has came down is to upgrade feedlines

That's not Zero reactance. It's in "phase "mode".
I can prove Zero reactance if I need to. I got 2 more going together. I know antennas an how to tune. Maybe u should go check out the 6element of mine in the air he has an check out that Reactance 😉😉😉. So so so sorry the analyzer was phased lol. But I dont think its phased in the 6 of mine in the air.

yes ive built a few lfa's and had really good success . im sure gump and jtg will get around to building the lfa at some point .

Go hook your coax directly to the driven element on a Maco and let me know how that works for you.
You clearly know nothing about yagis or you'd see the difference. I'm assuming all beam antennas look alike to you. If if had a square boom, you'd say "looks like a jogunn"
