Hello I like your videos on your fx I’m a long time owner of mine a Yamaha 2001 xl 800 2 stroke Im the only owner i bought mine brand new I hav seen any more updates on yours I was kind of waiting to see any more of your updates on your fx did you ever solve the water leak problem I thought u did in one of your postings about it okay thanks in advance
Hi, yes it was mainly the steering cable nylon nut that had come loose and was pouring water right into the hull. I put Teflon tape on the threads and spun the nut back on tight, it hasn’t come back loose or leaked in over 30hrs of riding. I also patched some gouges underneath the hull and replaced the drain plugs and it’s mostly water tight now. I did make a video called “finding where the waverunner leaks in water”. Good luck!
Okay cool thanks for the response back I must been lucky I have 2001 Yamaha xl 800 model 2 stroke i bought it brand new I’m in AZ now at that I was living in San Diego never had a leak problem believe it or not it’s amazing yes I heard about that nylon nut can get loose on that cable I been lucky so far the motor never Been rebuilt either everything is still factory parts I just take care of it the basics you no but hey good luck with yours 😁👍
