Isn’t there a clean copy of Gordon Walker Playing this anywhere? ( like for sale?) I love this version, but it is distracting that the sound quality is compromised.
It's the reel/hornpipe version of Fiddler's Rally... since he wrote the jig I assume he wrote that arrangement of it as well. It is somewhat reminiscent of TJN though.
Pity about the sound distortion. The volume was too much for the microphone of the camera used. I still like Angus McColl but my new favourite is definitely Gordon Walker.
lomax343 they play in a micro key. Between B and B Flat. It's a pain when your learning the pipes and your own school doesn't support them because they don't know a thing about them. Even the so called "Scottish Music Teacher" in my school doesn't even know how to make the pipes work with other instruments. I find it kind of unbelievable that a Scottish school is more prepared to teach someone the ukulele instead of Their countries national instrument.
When this man was born...the pipes came with him.. they are 1 ..a legend he is.....play the pipes laddy..play the pipes!!!!!!
thats mad.....the tune is already intense enough and he goes along and makes it insanely intense lol
Met him after an army dinner one night, he was piping. What can I say, he is such a nice guy! Likes a good drink too, smashing chap
That's amazing!
i have been taught by this guy :)
Oh my god!!!! That man is a ledge!!!
amazing ,,he's making those pipes SING..
Brilliant !!!!
Amazing tunes!
It's better ever time!
Yea, but can he play "Highland Laddie"? Lol, AMAZING, could listen to you play all day. The best of the best.
A choke at 3:16. It even happens to the pros lol.
It's both actually... jig first, then reel.

ah, so it is. cool
Sounds a lot like riffs from the Train Journey North (which he also plays like a demon) augmenting the last half.

Duncan Johnstone lives.....
Would like the reel setting if anyone has worked it out yet... Thanks
I sure wish Gordon Walker would record a clean version of this.

Bagpipes don't follow traditional tuning, so they aren't actually in any accepted key. The best compromise is usually B-flat with a flattish seventh.
