As a Cape Bretoner I have to say we owe Buddy MacMaster more than we could ever pay him.So many of today's Celtic artists learned from him it is astounding. From Natalie MacMaster,Ashley MacIsaac to the Rankin family, they all learned from the True Master.....
I have listened to Cape Breton fiddle since I was a small boy, I have heard many of the greats play at dances and concerts over the years, Buddy was always a great dance for sure, Rodney and Glen are about the lively-est, as far as clean, Natalie is the very best, Howie a close second. There are so many world class fiddlers in Cape Breton now, Rachael, Margie, Boyd, Andrea , Brenda , Kyle, Kimberly and the list goes on. The previous generations , Buddy especially, did their part to keep the traditions alive and well , Thanks to them we enjoy and sometimes take for granted how lucky we are to experience this wonderful music on a regular basis.
We were fortunate enough to attend the Inverness Gathering a few years ago and see Buddy the evening we were there. Wow opened a whole undiscovered world to us. And as I have had a 40 year old obsession with lady fiddlers, it is not hard to imagine my glee at discovering Natalie. We are from a small town in North Missouri, so the concert at Inverness was a delight. Just like being in rural Missouri, except for difference in the music!
+Mandolin1944 Wonderful to see and hear them play, teacher and student, Father and Daughter. The Cape Breton creed is "If you have nothing good to say, than say nothing". As far as the people that down rated this video, they are very wrong indeed.
What a gift to pass on to your children! Perhaps in another life I'll learn how to play the fiddle (my grandfather played and wish I had learned from him!)
Man, how many thousands of hours will I have to practice to be even half as good as either of them? I have their joint album, and it makes the drive to work inspiring...
It's only my opinion, but contrary to the description, I would say that Mr MacMaster is the one featuring Miss Natalie here rather than the other way around
+Loïc Fanning Surely they feature together?.If they weren't playing absolutely together you'd soon notice. Very surprising that the others can barely be heard. Almost a waste of time for them to join in. With that many fiddlers I'd expect a lot more sound.

+UISTMAN59 Merely a point of order (opinion) in the sense that one is the apple and the other is the tree. As for the recording, the other fiddlers could just as well not be there, nobody seems to have thought to keep any of what came through their stage mix
I happen to have these tunes handwritten by a Cape Breton violin teacher all on one page! All of the tunes are similar, but Miss Lya'll is very different.... Maybe there is more than one variation?
I have a book with this song and I want to play it but I don’t wanna translate the notes to the fiddle notes ugh Also, my dad grew up living next to her so at a concert she did in peu we got to go backstage
thanks 4 the input. was it u that gave me the thumb down?Do u think loosing america was a good thing?? It was english georgian arrogance that lost that war, don't u think

Two of Cape Breton's finest fiddlers here ; Rest in Peace, Buddy
I'm a gigantic fan of King George, this medley, and George's in general. This is a phenomenal performance!

THIS IS THE BEST TUNE EVER!!!!!!!!!
Awesome set! Last tune is The Bridge Of Bamore.
Love this set -- great to hear the two MacMasters in concert. Anyone who would down rate this video is just wrong.

+Will CampbellThanks for the comment -- Buddy is actually Natalie's uncle.
+Mandolin1944 Well said . Buddy's daughter is the lovely Mary Elizabeth MacInnis.
Love listening to her playing, motivates me to continue playing the fiddle! And learning new things to teach. :)
I think at 2:01 I begin to lose my mind.
OMG! That's gotta be what Heaven is like! What an incredible sound!!
I needed to be born in Scotland...damn!
Or like Natalie and Buddy, in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada
Judique on the floor🎉

JUST SOUNDS WONDERFUL .THANKYOU.

Yes, Buddy is still alive and doing ok!
Paddy Ryan's Dream is played after King's Reel. Great and inspiring set.
Je t’adore Natalie, j’écoute une toune de toi à chaque jour, tu fais ma jounée. Je suis de descendance Irlandaise, mon père jouait ce genre de musique
Outstanding !!!
talent on loan from GOD, they've got!!!!
The King George Bagodam.... yeah!!!
Love it!!
very nice! I wish I could play like them!!!
So few people get to do this - play along with a relative, I mean. Natalie playing with Uncle Buddy is just special to all of us!
Last reel is Bridge of Bamore

+Loïc Fanning You're right about stage mix and I agree about the seniority . She's Buddy's niece of course.
The other fiddlers are the Cape Breton Fiddle Association and an integral part of Cape Breton culture.
