- Join us for a walk in Hastings, East Sussex, England, UK. Our walk starts on George Street in Hastings Old Town. We then head out onto Hastings Seafront along East Parade, then down Rock-a-Nore Road and finish our walk on Rock-a-Nore Beach. Along the way we take a look at the cliff railway, the Hastings Miniature Railway, the tall fisherman's huts where the fishermen dry their nets and the fishing boats of Hastings Land Based Fishing Fleet.
Hastings is a town in East Sussex on England’s southeast coast. It's known for the 1066 Battle of Hastings, fought on a nearby field where Battle Abbey now stands. The Norman ruins of Hastings Castle, once home to William the Conqueror, overlook the English Channel. It later became one of the medieval Cinque Ports. In the 19th century, it was a popular seaside resort, as the railway allowed tourists and visitors to reach the town. East along the shingle seafront of Stade beach, Hastings Fishermen’s Museum and Shipwreck Museum document maritime history. Hastings Contemporary (formerley The Jerwood Gallery) shows contemporary art. Today, Hastings is a fishing port with the UK's largest beach-based fishing fleet.

Nice to see Hastings again! I'm from Germany and spent some summer holidays there in the 80s and 90s! Fortunately, as I can see, not that much has changed!

Another interesting walk- used to park at Rock-a -Nore and walk in the opposite direction! One of the worst places for seagulls! Thanks

Haha it wasn't the eating of ice cream- it's what happens after the eating of ice cream. The cars in the car pk there used to be covered- never seen anything as bad as that anywhere else!😮
Eugh yuk! Not what you want to see when you come back to your car. Luckily we came by train so didn't get to experience that.
I lived in George st in the 60s and it was very different then. We had cars in those days

Never been to Hastings. Looks interesting. Lots of fish and chips places to try. Always nice to see the sun out in England. I really like the lake district, a town called Grasmere. And I also like the Yorkshire Dales. James Heritot(sp) country. But these coastal towns are growing on me. Thanks. 🤗
