    I lived in Hastings from 1971 till 1973. I loved it. I loved coming back in later years and I am still homesick for the Town. I am german and now been living back in Germany since 1973. In the seventies there was lots to do. I remember the old Pump House and the Aquarius Club. Lots of Pubs to go to.

    If I tell you that grew up there I lie you. But I can tell you that I love Hastings it's true. I went there for first time at the age of 10, now I am 43. I used to go on summer, one month to learn English with an Spanish school in Magdalen Road. I spent a month for 5 years. I use to watch Hastings videos on UA-cam every week

    Hastings has the largest land based fishing fleet in europe. Has a few things like church at bottom of harold road which is over 1000 years old. One if not first norman castle built after 1066. The old town has hundred odd ole style small doored timber beam pubs! And they have world record pirate day and jack n green day and world championship gor mini golf every year. And the pier which used to be better and is now fancy but has live music.

    Yeah Ye Olde Pump House, must have been in Hasting since 1066 🙂 I remember this pub when I was an English student back in 1975 at the age of 17. They sold beer esp. Guinness not asking your age ... and further up the street The Lord Nelson, does ist still exist? Great video, it really brought up some memories, Cheers !

      Not calling you a liar, but I do find that very unlikely; in my experience, at least, I would say that out of all the Easy Languages channels, Easy English is one of the very _least_ likely to ignore a comment, unless it's something totally incomprehensible or rude, for example.

    5:36 - Mitch, mate, I'm telling you, I just _can't get enough_ of that exquisite accent of the beautiful lady on the right there...😍😍😍
    Ahem, not to mention I also loved that she mentioned the castle and the Battle of Hastings; it sure brought back some good _"Age of Empires II: The Conquerors"_ memories, as well. 😁
    Glad to see our dear golden-haired friend decided to shine its light over there, for a change! I can't help but think it _must_ have been such a day when your ancestors came up with this beauty: ua-cam.com/video/aFUkIAnE6dA/v-deo.html

    This only covers a small area of Hastings. You did not show the real Hastings at all. It being one of the most deprived towns in England. If you had walked in Hastings you would have got a different and depressing vibe. I live hear and the only positive thing about Hastings is that it is by the Sea.

    • @Anakinuk007
      @Anakinuk007 21 годину тому

      I think that’s garbage, it’s somewhere in the top 100 of most deprived towns prob around halfway? It’s called out because it is the most deprived in the south east - with Brighton and Eastbourne just marginally above Hastings. If you were to compare to whole areas up north, Hastings in comparison is pretty wealthy. Totally unfair to say it’s one of the most deprived towns in England that’s just laughable.
      The south east is likely the richest area in the whole country - so Hastings does stick out and gets mentioned a lot. It’s not that it’s so bad, it’s more that surrounding towns and areas are that much richer and better off so it appears far worse than it actually is.

      I wish I could've found people who were visiting the castle and most "cultural" things... the benefit, I guess, is that you see the true nature of what Brits get upto in an everyday scenario. I think the 3 ladies who'd come down for a trip were planning to go see the castle... right after Boots and the pub :)
