    Jinjer - Home Back

Man this takes me back. This is like Phase 1 Jinjer before they just evolved into an entirely different beast. Both are as good as each other, just different.

Home Back a song about the conflict in their native Donetsk region is even more appropriate now

Eugene (Bass), Roman (Guitar) and Vlad (Drums) are all currently in Kyiv and quite possibly have been pressed in to service to fight for Ukraine. Tatiana is in California with her husband, Alex Lopez of Suicide Silence. Hoping every day for the guy's safety. "Pit of Consciousness" and "On the Top" live in Kyiv and their anti-war song "Home Back" are good ones to hit up. Especially the last one I mentioned because of Ukraine's plight.

Here is a bit of a more recent update (about a week ago) from Eugene, on a German radio show: ua-cam.com/video/4_6vBz57a74/v-deo.html

Eugene said they were all in Ukraine and I haven’t seen anything proving she left. I really hope she did. They were rehearsing for the Slipknot tour. I hope they all get through this and this shit ends soon. Also, Fuck Putin.

No single raindrop feels responsible for the flood. But we as consciousness raindrops can still create floods. Which I meant as a response to you saying your little bit doesn't matter but it's kinda what the song is about too. :) They have lots of great stuff. You can't go wrong especially on stage. Home Back is about their hometown getting caught in the 2014 war in eastern Ukraine and is even more heartbreaking today, and the video was produced in Kyiv too. Eugene their bassist is in Kyiv along with Vlad the drummer and Roman the guitarist. Tatiana was in the. US with her husband Alex Lopez of Suicide Silence when this all started. Subbed. Cheers and Slava Ukraini!

Yep! There's always that first raindrop before the flood.

Jinjer has become my favorite band. They were supposed to play a solo show here tomorrow night before heading out to open for the first half of Knotfest. This song was originally composed with two guitars, but they reworked it after the other guitarist and last founding member of the band left. Having one guitar now really gives Eugene more space to stand out in the mix, which is great because he is such a good bassist. I won't bother with recommendations because I'm sure you will get plenty from everyone else and you really can't go wrong with anything from them.

Nice! You reacted to my second favorite Jinjer, now you must react to my favorite “home back” after that there’s “teacher, teacher”, “outlander”, “on the top”, and “pit of consciousness”. Awesome reaction as usual man.

Some good live clips would be "Perennial" live at Wacken Open Air and "Captain Clock" live at Resurrection Fest. Lots of good official video/studio cuts to look at like "Teacher Teacher", "outlander", "Sit Stay Roll Over", "Vortex", "Mediator", "Wallflower", "I speak Astronomy", "Retrospective".

I love it when you go through a 5 minute song and say "It's over?" lol. Cool review. Everything about this version of the song is my favorite. I can't get over how well everything sounds. The mix was perfect! Cheers and keep it going!

Roman, Eugene, and Vlad are all awesome musicians. Hoping they are still safe in Kiev.
For more from them, try Perennial live from Wacken 2019, or the video for Vortex.

If you want to see how a single-guitarist metal(ish?!) band can sound this *huge* ,I recommend watching Eugene's bass playthrough vid straight after the OMV for "Vortex".... it's an absolute #MasterClass Eugene is the dude who makes me want to spend money I don't really have on a decent 5-string (something I've avoided for ~30yrs of playing) to try to emulate some of his both-hands-busy-but-always-tasteful lines! Roman's tone on guitar is top-notch for sure, but Eugene with his casually finger-raked chordals etc, always tight with Vlad's drumming, well.... he's a musical thunderstorm!!
All 3 of the lads were in Kyiv when this escalation kicked off (Tatiana was in LA with her husband), & given they are fit & of age, they may be handed AKs & told to get out & try to kill Russian soldiers if this horrendous situation drags on. Would be nice if US politicians just stated the necessary "Ukraine cannot join NATO" with the rest of the member states, to have Russia agree to withdraw.... but then Lockheed, Raytheon etc wouldn't make $billions from the conflict I suppose.
Prayers for sanity & peace from this random Jinjer appreciator in Scotland.

Jinjer has a sound, when you hear it you know it - much like Rush. Other bands play great music, no denying, it's just a matter of preference, some music resonates with people more than others. I try to bash no one, because they are doing what they create, so mad props on the talent part of it even if it doesn't tickle my fancy. I grew up on Iron Maiden, Slayer, Anthrax, Pantera and many others and Jinjer stands out to me as innovative and unique even though others do similar things here and there. They have talent and creativity that takes them to another level IMO, you can rock out but still be surprised at their jazz or reggae infusion which just shows their unique niche.

I will suggest the best way to get into Jinjer since I am a diehard fan:
    Pisces (Live session) 1st
    I Speak Astronomy
Who's Gonna Be the One (Live)
    Perennial ( Live @ Wacken)
    Teacher, Teacher (video)
so you're off to a solid start....then get Cloud Factory & Outlander and maybe even Scissors to start the older stuff in your blood and then listen to their albums in order. They have just gotten better and better every album. All Killer No Filler and Tatiana is the Queen!
Lions At the Gate put out a recent video w/Tatiana that is fantastic as well. The Rabbit Hole is deep but the best Rabbit Hole you've ever heard, guaranteed.

Good reaction, thank you. Jinjer shines live. I highly recommend reacting to "Words of Wisdom" (LIve, Napalm Records), "Perennial" live at Wacken, and "Pit of Consciousness" live in Kyiv. For those who what to help Ukraine, find a fundraiser you trust and make a donation. Jinjer has one on their site. 🌻💙💛

Their older stuff has two guitars. I would check out Outlander for something a little more structured. Teacher; Teacher is a great song of theirs. Home Back(a song fitting for what they have gone through) and Sit, Stay, Rollover are really heavy songs.

Sit Stay Rollover got Napalm Records' attention, resulting in that record deal.

Wow, who let the animals out of the zoo? No entertainment value here. To tell you the truth, the growling she does, I can do. They are on another level than Nightwish with Floor is....Jinjer is in the basement, Nightwish with Floor is in the Penthouse. Hey, my personal opinion and reaction. To each his own, and comments are for comments.
