As much as I love rock, it is rare to see a rock band with the sheer technical virtuosity typical of jazz or fusion bands. Jinjer are an extreme exception. I love your analysis of them because there is so much to look at.

    • @joshuatapp3447

Great analysis. As a non-musician that in-depth perspective helps me appreciate what I enjoy so much about their music. I Speak Astronomy is epic and the official video is beautiful. There aren't any top-quality live performance videos which is too bad because her voice has grown in belting power since the studio recording. Pit Of Consciousness is great in both the official and live in Kiev versions - but as a reaction, definitely do the Live In Kiev when you get to that one. Great song all around and the most savage growls of anything they've released. Tati's voice is constantly growing in power and control with her growls too and modern performances of this song are equally savage - if you are curious, look up the Live in Israel full set bootleg uploaded by Idan Shahar and use the link in the top comment to see a pretty good bootleg. When I saw them live the first time I was standing next to a stack of speakers and I could feel those low growls shaking me to my bones.

Ahahah, don't "feel bad" about the intro to Teacher, Teacher!, I've been listening to that song since it came out and to this day I still can't follow the rhythmic pattern until Tatiana starts singing! :D I didn't say anything in your reaction video about the chorus but if you have a chance listen to the song again and try to follow the kick hits. I bet you'll have to listen to it a lot of times to get them right. : )
6:05 - See that laptop next to Vlad? That's what makes the band perform the songs very close to the studio versions everytime. Let me explain: they have songs with intros that are pre-recorded, as well as some sounds they play in the middle of the songs, guitar tracks and more recently, vocal harmonies. Vlad launches them from his laptop and he also has a metronome (or a click track) to keep in time so that all the pre-recorded tracks fall perfectly into their own places in the song.

With the offbeat / funky time signatures and the way she is dancing about, I can see Tatjana be an awesome swing/lindyhop dancer.
Though in all honesty, she'd probably lead me and most other guys :'D

@@ChaseCarneson - The old version is somewhat different from this one, not to mention that it was in their old tuning, drop C. Of all their old songs this is the only one they "transposed" to drop A (their current tuning), all the other ones were (are) played in their original tuning (Roman and Eugene have each one a different guitar and bass tuned to drop C to play them live). : )

Awesome! Great reaction, really like your commentary and input on the sound, instruments and more technical stuff like the reverb. Sometimes your accent is a bit challenging for a non native english speaker but with a few pauses i get it. :)
This song is amazing, the riff, the bass, the back and fourth of the vocals, and then the live performance really makes them shine. Eugene skills are insane and it shows in this live videos. The four of them just have so much talent and fit so well with each other.
If you want more great live performances "Perennial" live at Wacken, "Captain Clock" live at Ressurection Fest or "On The Top" live in Kiev are a must see/listen. If you want to see more from their box of tricks and surprises like that ska vibe at the end try "Judgement & Punishment" official or live in Melbourne. Peace.

I'm a bass player and find it amusing that while other people are reacting to Tatiana's voice, I'm focused on how bad ass Eugene's bass skills are.
I suggest "Judgment and Punishment" next (if you haven't done so yet).

I highly recommend you to react to Frozen Crown. Specifically the two songs Chasing Light and Queen of Blades. The two songs can be considered one, with Chasing Light being a mild soothing song that seamlessly follows into the much more heavy and intense Queen of Blades. They are much akin to Unleash the Archers in their intensity!

The cool thing is it doesn't take too many revists to their material to kind of "get" them. Every channel gets their go with Bleed lol.. I suggest an older classic after personally then you're pretty much good. Not to say there's not treasure trove of great tunes awaiting, but they can be kind of monotone. All their dynamics revolve around the web of patterns they spin.
