Bob Dylan actually wrote and sang this song. This a cover by GNR. Though written from the perspective of a dying sheriff, the song may resonate with those who have lost loved ones to war or in the line of duty for law enforcement. The tone of “Knocking on Heaven’s Door” encapsulates a certain sense of desperation; it captures that deeply embedded fear we may feel in the moment before unanticipated, certain death.
Well dang. I just always assumed Bob was tripping one night and woke up like "hey, I wrote a song last night".
Great encapsulation of the story. Bob Dylan wrote novel quality emotions into his verses.
@@trentbobo4171 Probably...
cover that is way more famous than the original.
@@rimisark & much better imo
Very few Rock & Roll singers have a 5 octave range. Axl Rose is blessed with that ability. He flies up and down the octaves, adding variety and depth to every song.
Yes he dose and higher amd one lady singing also has A 5 bit Axl has the highest of everyone ever . Even post opera singers .
Very few Rock & Roll singers have Testicular Torsion..
I thought it was 7
Axl has a 7 octave range which is pretty unbelievable for a rock singer
Can’t remember where I read that he is one of the very few that could hit the high note higher than Mariah and as low as Barry White
Bob Dylan wrote this song for, and acted in, the movie "Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid", in 1973.
Bob Dylan wrote "Knocking on heaven's door" back in the 1960s, GNR remake of the song came out in the late 1980s.
1973 for the movie Pat Garrett and Billy The Kid. Great song❤️
Axl is a natural born singer, started singing in the church choir at age 5. If you havent, watch Welcome to The Jungle official video, and Sweet Child of Mine. Live, you should watch Paradise City!! 💙🎶💙🎶
The live version of this song is so engaging as to be unforgettable.
The best version ...
Guns N Roses
Mr.Brownstone, Civil War and Rocket Queen my top 3 favorites ♡♡
A great cover of a great Dylan song. They also do a great cover of Live & Let Die.
A friend's band played this about a week after I found out my 18 yr old cousin died of a heart attack. I lost it and finished this song in the ladies room bawling my eyes out. My friend was waiting when I came out, opened his arms and just held and hugged me. This song still gets to me almost 30 years later.
This song was written by Bob Dylan in 1973 for the movie "Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid".💯 It turned out to be a huge hit for Dylan.😁❤✌
Now y'all taking me back to my teenage years🔥🤘✌️
I leaned about this song in “Pat Garret & Billy the Kid”. Dylan was in the movie. The song started when Slim Pickins got shot in the guts, it was obviously fatal, & he had a few seconds left to say goodbye to his wife.
Aaaand now I'm off to look for Young Guns 2 soundtrack reactions...
Who else tore up.the streets in your one traffic light town after a home football game with older kids who could drive praying you didn't get caught lol this song was in the speakers 😳 love those days
I’ve never taken it as the singer being depressed, but that he was dying - the darkness coming down on him is death. I know that in the movie that Dylan wrote the song for, the character was shot and dying.
Damn... Slash with his elegant sophisticated plucking on the guitar is more impressive than any of the most extreme metal shredding. IMO.
5:23 A good example of why Slash is a guitar god. You want rapid-fire notes? Slash can do that. You want only a few notes, but masterfully selected? Slash can do that. And he can do anything in between. Listen to this solo. If you always give the ear what it wants to hear the music is boring. If you never give the ear what it wants to hear the music is agitating. Slash puts the right mix of expected vs unexpected notes into his solos. The more times you listen to his guitar solo, the more you appreciate the unexpected notes.
No, ur mom
@@juanespino6239 Ur is an ancient city in Mesopotamia. Did you mean "your"?
Bob Dylan wrote the song, guys!
Axle and the gang done a fantastic remake with it!
The live version of the freddie mercury tribute concert is crazy
GNR basically made Knockin on heavens door and live and let die their own despite the songs being covers. A large number of people would associate these songs with Guns N’ Roses. The live version of this song is impressive as well!
BJ loves his classic rock guitar styles and beats !!! Really gets into it - good man !!
I could listen to Slash on guitar all day & night.
I don’t know how to express but this is definitely touchy song to me. Various taste and spice into a song. Thank you great reaction. I enjoy much. This is hello from Japan
That's one hell of a reaction thank you for the entertainment. Keep up with the fire reactions yall are great!!
Wish you an your family the best
If you haven't reacted to their song Civil War it is another really good one. Great reaction!! 🙂
Cudos for the audio kvalite... One of the best on youtube.. keep it up!
My favorite Guns n' Roses song is the power ballad "Patience", and it's an original. I would love to see you react to that one!
Fam been watching you folks with just a few thousands and love watching your reactions and growth with music and life.Keep keeping R.D.W.! !!
The live versions of this song are awesome, both the 88 concert and 92 one are 🔥🔥🔥 I'd also recommend checking out You Could be mine, Novemeber rain trilogy w/ Don't Cry and Estranged and patience :)
Happy New Year 🎈🎆🎊 love your reactions 💕
It's a Bob Dylan cover, but they brought it to the masses after their friend Todd Crew died of a herion overdose.
Hello sending love from Louisiana Happy Thanksgiving to y’all. I hope you have a blessed and safe one.
This is a cover of legendary Bob Dylan. Bob wrote it in the 60s
React for you could be mine by Guns n roses
You both just lift my spirit up plus GNR 🌹🌹...
Great reaction to an old song that everyone thought couldn't be covered, but they did it and some!
Guns N' Roses also had covers of 'Live and Let Die' by the Beatles, and 'Sympathy for the Devil' by the Rolling Stones.
I remember one morning in 2007 driving, stinking drunk from the night before. This song came on the radio, I took it as a sign. Fifteen years now without alcohol. This song has been covered a lot. GNR's rendition is my favorite!!!
I saw guns and roses last year and they were awesome
Amazing reaction you 2🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Great song and great reaction, Bob Dylan has some amazing lyrics, also if into movies they play this in ending of Lethal Weapon 2. Besides the western Pat Garrett and Billy the kid.
Thank you for sharing this with me
Guns N’ Roses are GOAT status.
My Favorite sing and BEST VERSION.
IIVE EVERYWORD NOW!!!!
Happy Thanksgiving you all
Happy Thanksgiving
@@geneset5879 hope you an your family will enjoy your Thanksgiving
Love the mix of reactions you do..! 💯
This is one that there’s a live version I’ve seen that has more energy. Was originally a bob dylan tune
*GNR is right up there as the best there is in Rock.*
I have to say this was my favourite version of that song they did a belting job of it
I love this cover of the song
bob dylan wrote it. you should check out the song hurricane by bob dylan, its amazing.
Great song. The original Dylan version was a big hit. Dylan acted in Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid ( this song was written for the movie). Prior to,the GNR version, Eric Clapton’s reggae tinged version was a staple at his concerts.
Many bands have covered this song and done excellent versions but the original by Bob Dylan will always be my favorite
Mine too.
@@annemarinelli7303 HaterworldUncensored Live!!!
Written by Bob Dylan during the 60's and VietNam. Thanx for this you guys. Sweet Child of Mine by G&R is amazing.
Great cover by GNR…. Thank you 🙏
You have to SEE this performance
Bob actually put a third verse in this song, but only he sings it. Bob does this with a lot of his songs, changes words during live performances. Bob only had one thing to say to Gun's and Roses when they asked if they could do it, when you going to do it? I could use the money.
What's up party people? Happy Turkey day! This is one of my all time favorite G and R songs. Is production level vocals guitar solo All top notch! It's not a church going person But I'll be sitting right next to you Listening to this one for sure lol!
If you liked the song, then check out the original knocking on heavens door by Bob Dylan
Dylan wrote the song for a Sam Peckipah movie. If you have never seen his movie the Wild Bunch, you are missing out on a great western.
My favorite couple reactors, fun and awesome to watch your videos. Please, react to Teskey brothers (from Australia), they got soulful voice. 1) pain & misery 2) crying shame 3) pain.
One In A Million great song
You guys should react to the live version of this in the Ritz - super good! That whole concert was crazy good live
Knew ya'll wuz on too much country! Welcome back! TY GUYS!
This song was dropped by Bob Dylan in 1973 for the film 'Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid'. (Badge/Gun).
Fun facts:
James Coburn played Pat Garrett in 1973.
Coburn later played John Chisum in Young Guns 2.
In Young Guns 1, Billy the Kid whistles a sad ballad before point-blank killing a man.
Kris Kristofferson played Billy the kid in 1973.
Kristofferson later played 'Whistler' in 'Blade' 1 and 2.
I was born in 1973.
My favorite film is 'Taxi Driver'.
In it, Cybil Shepard quotes to Robert DeNiro some lyrics from a Kris Kristofferson-written song:
"He's a Prophet and a Pusher
Part Truth and Part Fiction
A walking Contradiction."
Such is Life...
the lyrics comment directly on the scene in the film for which it was written: the death of a frontier lawman (Slim Pickens).
Song puts me in the mind of an old Sheriff that knows he can’t do it anymore and dies shortly thereafter.
Asia is so pretty!! great reaction guys
You are reacting to music when I was a twen back than. *_* Thx for liking this music. You are a nice pair! ♥
happy thanksgiving to you both
Bod Dylan did the original. Do Bob Dylan "Kocking on heavens door" and see what you like better. I love both.
GNR....CIVIL WAR....AWESOME SONG
The great thing about reacting to music, without a video, is you get, and we see, your interpretation of the song. That’s how music is supposed to work. Your vision, in your minds eye…Not some video director who was doing a soap commercial the week before he got the music video gig.
Pat Garret and Billy the Kid, I watched the movie in Haiti late 70s James Coburn, Chris Christofferson.Billy the Kid got shot in a showdown with Pat Garret he’s about to die, he was on the run but Pat G finally caught up to him. Now Pat G was a bounty hunter or a sheriff.❤❤❤❤
The band Heaven does a great cover of this song too.
I really recommend you try Randi Crawford version. She will bring a tear to your eyes.
Happy Thanksgiving 🍁
Asia” The big weight just dumped on your shoulders” accurate 💯
This song written and soundtrack also for a movie PAT GARRETT AND BILLY THE KID BY BOB DYLAN ☮️
That song is from the movie 1968 I think with the year Pat Garrett and Billy the kid and filmed by the director Sam peckinpah in the movie Bob Dylan sang that song that's the original you need to listen to it
This is when shit was real for this band. Slash sure can make it sound sweesweet.
Bob Dylan masterpiece.
Real smooth song.
This song may have been written by Bob Dylan, but it will forever belong to Guns and Roses as of the recording of their version.
BJ Guns N' Roses is the truth. More and more and more.
Gotta find a playable live version of this song where they do a reggae break in the middle and a singalong....way better than the studio version
The whole band made history for sure but Axl will go down in history as one of the best rock voices ever, Slash as one of the guitar gods for sure. 50 yrs from now people will still listen to them and be amazed by it
A very great song
damn good guitar work
The song was originally done by Bob Dylan. Its about Pat Garrett. The sheriff that shot Billy The Kid at his time of passing. Thanks for this one!
3:43 beavis and butt-head dig how axl sings it like that too!
Watch the Live one of this song at feedy tribute show . . . You will enjoy It very much .

Bob Dylan wrote this for the movie "Pat Garret and Billy the kid.
Guys it's great version from GNR. But the original song was written by Bob Dylan.
