Those are really interesting ring designs. I'm curious. How economical is it to make/sell fixed sized rings? I just started making simple rings. The first couple I've made are adjustable. The shank is open underneath bezel set stones and the bezel is soldered to only one side of the opening. They look good, but I'm not sure how sturdy they will be. Having my daughter test drive one of them to find out.
Happy New Year Chad!!! I know this is going to be a great year because I can find you right here! I would like to see a tension setting on a pear shaped stone. I've seen them once or twice and haven't been able to look up close and personal to one to try to figure it out. Can you pass along a hint or two?
Hey, nice geometry!!! I did a 5 piece (pendants) commission in 14k gold last year for the Nat Geo book writer; The Bucket List Family; Jessica Gee for her book tour. I did this exact technique with the mitre vise. They turned out beautifully. Did you find it fun to put all those angles together? I loved it. Great job! 🌺 🌺 🌺
My OCD can NOT handle that offset bezel 😂 I’ve also noticed that for some reason your audio never quite syncs up with the video for some reason. It’s really noticeable when you’re filing. That all sounds bad, but I do really like your videos, though. I downloaded both of your project guides and look forward to making some of the projects. Thanks for sharing!
@jdiamond9513 Hi! I've noticed the audio, too. I did some research, and it frequently is not the creator who is not producing synced content. Frequently, it can be a streaming issue. Perhaps too much is pulling simultaneously on your streaming capacity. I turn everything off and do a reset, eliminating any extra platforms that may be using my bandwidth. I'm not sure if that's the correct terminology, but this step has fixed the disparity occasionally. Also, I've been told that other users in your area can snag bandwidth- so to speak. Peak usage times can affect individual streaming capacity. Perhaps this is helpful? It IS a bit annoying to have audio and video, not sync. I just reset or concentrate on what's happening at Chad's bench, which is always compelling. 🌺
Sorry, butting in unasked with a hopefully helpful suggestion: The dribbler works, is less messy, but still can create an excess and messy flux situation on your board/surface. What I find even better is a natural bristle brush. 😊 Or you could dip your piece in a small jar of flux (liquid or paste) and your solder chip/balls as well. Keep that surface clean!!! Tweezers for placing are fantastic.
For the octagonal one, have you tried the tecnique where you saw almost through the metal, then file a v-groove, then bend it together until the v closes? Not sure what it's called in English, but the direct translation from Norwegian would be snap-sawing. 🤔😅 Then you'll have it all in one piece whitch makes soldering the ends and all seams much easier 🙂
@@chadssilversmithing if you take your drawing, let's say the outer lengt from corner to corner is 10mm minus the inside lengt corner to corner is 8mm whitch in this case is 2mm and devide by 2 =1mm, take your wire and set marks for each outer corner, from each of the marks you take away the length you got from above math in both directions (in this case 1mm to each side of the 10mm spaced marks) 🙂 This math will work no matter how many sides you're makeing, hope it'll come in handy in future projects 😊
I'm looking at making a custom meme ring and I'm looking to make the band something similar to ring pops where it's not a solid circle so that my friend can adjust it as needed to fit her finger because neither of us know our sizes. Does anybody know any style of rings that I could look at for ideas on how to make it?
Hello Alex! I occasionally make an adjustable this way, which might work for your situation: ua-cam.com/video/EopODU6ibjM/v-deo.htmlsi=T-0uK6SdYBWvwU1j
The store tab on UA-cam is malfunctioning, so if you'd like to purchase something, go here: chads-silversmithing-shop.fourthwall.com/?
The design of the rings in various patterns is fashionable🤩🤩🤩
Thanks Ohnochokin!
Can’t thank you enough for the value I get from these videos! I’ve learned so much. Been binging all winter.
Thanks mweitz! It's my pleasure!
Avery clearly and very good design Günther Clemenz
Thanks Günther!
I love the geometric style. Im a big Bauhaus fan
Thanks Yoshikaable! Me too:)

I make those type sometimes:). If you have a pretty good sized inventory, and lots of styles in all different sizes, they sell reasonably well.
Clever way to build an octagon! Pepe Tools likely has square mandrels.
Thanks!
Happy New Year and thanks for another great video 😊
Same to you Linsj! Thanks:)
Happy new year Chad. Excellent video as per normal 😉
Thanks Chris! Happy New Year to you as well!

Thanks Rebecca! Happy new year to you as well! I don't think I've seen that before. I will do some research:)

Thanks Jdiamond! I used to really struggle with asymmetric designs, but I'm working to break out of that box:). Sorry the audio gets off sometimes!

I like your stone grabber. What is one of those called? I made a dopping stick out of some wax that comes around cheese…
I think they're called 4 prong stone grabbers or pick up tool. search gemstone tweezers on Amazon and you'll find some varieties.
I need a dribbler , I got the spray bottle like you use to have and it releases too much juice .

@ thx
I use a brush, sometimes spray, but I think a dribble bottle would be better.
@ thx
Flying Chef who also commented here is the one who sent me that bottle. She knows her stuff:)

And btw. it will save you material as well as you'll only loose the v's 😉
I do that sometimes to make a sharp bend in wire, but I thought getting the angles right would be challenging:)
