  • In this video I make a box ring out of sterling silver. And finish it off with a nice blue flash moonstone.
The pattern for the box ring was from Alec Kercso', a jewelry artist out of Santa Fe, New Mexico. His Web site is:
    www.easilydistractedbyshinyob...
The link to the tool to make templates for the box ring is:

Watched your box ring tutorial again this evening.
When are you having a tutorial about the box ring with square/rectangular stone.
The picture is shown in the above video.
It would be greatly appreciated... please let us know if you will or if you already have a tutorial for it.
    Thanks! So much.

Hi Pat, I am not sure if I mentioned that at one of your other tutorials BUT I think it would be VERY helpful if you could edit your video in a way that you show the finished product at the beginning- not just on the cover photo. The cover photo is so small that you only can imagine what you are making. ( many people are watching just on their phones) I always push your videos all to the end to see what the end result looks like and then go back to the beginning.
Besides that- another great video- thank u very much for your effort and kindness to share your knowledge.

Great video! Thank you for sharing all your wisdom. What are those things you set your stones with and where can they be found?

Thank you, I am not really sure what you are asking, perhaps you are referring to bezel wire which can be found many places. Try Rio Grande and search for bezel wire.

Interesting. I want to set a stone inside opening of the ring. No bezel. Then push the walls to hold the stone. I plan to solder a seat for the stone so it has a place to hold it level. The walls will be thinned some to facilitate pushing them on to the stone. Please suggestions and
    Recommendations. Thank you.

    • @patcahillmetalworks322
      @patcahillmetalworks322  3 роки тому +2

You will have to file the walls down, as you say thinned to facilitate pushing, it will be hard to get them thin enough without over doing it. But if you have a hammer head attachment for your flex shaft that should do it after you thin them a bit.
Good luck, please post a pic when you have it accomplished.

Well, I want to set a rectangular stone on my box ring.... without a bezel. I will solder a step to the ring, insert my stone and gush the walls around it to set the stone. Any recommendations and suggestions are welcome. I have never done this before. Thanks.

@@patcahillmetalworks322 ok, thank you :) But I think you're talking about the red one. I was wondering about the other one. It seems like you slide the blade inside holes, instead of like mine between two plates. But maybe I'm not seeing right.

@@patcahillmetalworks322 Its me again lol. I was wondering, if I were to do the ring with the stone set into the box, how would I keep the stone in? Would I need to add some type of jewelers clue? I have a Labradorite I want to set into the ring, instead of making a bezel on top and setting it. Hopefully that all made sense. Thank you again for your time.

@@jaredschrock5270 I don't use glue very much I do for pearls and some other rare times. In this case I think that glueing it in will be a bit tricky, I am not sure I would recommend it.
