    Thank you. Up and going! My waste toner box was nearly empty, but black foam roller needed to be cleaned. When you said it measures the resistance through roller, i knew that was it. Thanks again.

      Your comment helped me out
      I increased the resistance without removing the black holder.
      I just made the sensor pin more wider and it assumed more resistant...
      So now it is working
      Thanks for speaking the obvious but well needed.

    Well, I am afraid that as good as this video is, a firmware update has apparently shut this path down. I did it all. Opened it, blew it out with my air compressor, cleaned the foam roller with rubbing alcohol, pulled the bushing, cleaned the clear lens that spans the compartment; all of that and it still throws off the message. I just needed this fix to work for four days, until the replacement shows up on Friday, but no luck.

After it i watched video again and noticed, that this round thing on 1:44 - i moved it to release connection between metal pieces. I thought that it needs to be released, but he didn't do it. And i put it back in same position when it connects 2 metal pieces and it worked. after it message disappeared.

    Hello Gianni,
    I have an HP CP4525 that prints only solid black pages, I followed your videos about laserjet printers printing only the solid black pages. I replaced all the toner with new, I replace the low voltage power board, I replace the ITB. No change after all of this, still solid black pages. I made sure all sensers are touching the cartridge. I've been working on this for 2 years now, I'm out of ideas on how to fix this printer. If you have any idea's they would be very much apricated.

    For those for whom the procedure doesn't work, and worse, for those for whom a new box doesn't even work I have a guess. I suspect that the resistance measurement (between the rollers) is set up in the manufacturing process to be a certain value. I can suspect the value will change rapidly once it is put in service. The purpose of this would be for the machine to read the resistance and if it is in range it will accept the box and reset the error (insuring it is an OEM part). What this means is, if someone can take a new OEM Brother box and measure the resistance between the center and right hand contact, we could temporarily install a resistor of that value which will cause the machine to reset the error. Maybe someone who is getting a new box could measure it and give us the value. It is even possible the Brother has turned this into a machine kill switch meaning there is no way to reset the error code.

    • @petersherrouse33
      @petersherrouse33 17 днів тому +1

      I DID IT ! I measured the resistance of my old WT box and it showed infinite resistance (> 200M ohm) I found that the little plastic collars that the brushes rub on are from 2.5 to 5M ohm each. That would mean if the resistance from one roller to the other (conductivity of the rubber roller) of new box was in the unit ohms, the machine would measure in the 5 to 10M ohm range.
      What I did was take one strand of a multi conductor wire ( a fine stand of bright copper wire) and at the far end of the rollers I wrapped it around the pair of shafts right at the end. I tucked the end down so it wouldn't hang on any thing, checked the resistance from contact to contact (~8M ohms) and installed it. After loading the cartridges back in and closing the lid, it still said "WT end soon" but I hadn't powered it down in the process. I then recycled the power and unplugged it for 30 sec for good measure and when it powered up it and it no longer showed the error!
      I then when back in and pulled the wire out and when reinstalled the WT box error was back :-/. Since I don't want to leave the wire in it I will fetch an 8M ohm or so resistor when I'm in town and install it behind the cover where the contacts are (from the center contact to the one of the right). I'm guessing that these machines have been programmed such that if ever the WT box gets full (switch opens) from then on the machine watches the roller resistance. That would explain why people have to keep replacing the WT box as the conductivity of the rubber roller decreases much faster than the box fills. Installing the resistor will make it only error on full box switch opening.
      Now, it might be that there is a voltage held on the roller and conductivity is actually needed. Maybe someone can think of a treatment, a spray, like "anti static fabric spray" that would solve that.

    • @petersherrouse33
      @petersherrouse33 15 днів тому

      Well, not so fast :-/ I said I had it fixed but it seems things haven't worked out so great. It did seem that I had the machine accepting the box when I shorted the roller shafts together. I decided to put in the resistor I thought would fix it more permanently. I installed a 3.9M ohm but it rejected it, still gave "WT end soon". I decided to see if it would run past the 200 copy limit some folks have talked about - well it stopped (printing blank pages) at about 200. I tried a 7.9 M ohm but still no luck. I did figure out that the metal used for the contacts and switch get a coating (oxidation?) that would not clean up until I hit it with 1000 grit emery wet sand paper. I found one needs to check the resistance from the left contact to the far right one and get it below an ohm. I'll post more if I figure out something but for now I have a dead printer and I'm not at all confident that even an OEM WT box will get it going again.

    • @petersherrouse33
      @petersherrouse33 12 днів тому

      Update 4: I *think* I've got something figured out - guardedly. I've got NO ERROR at this time. What I found: The three contacts on the waste tray press against little spring loaded loop contacts in the side wall of the machine. Behind those loops are springs that push them out. In the side of the machine is a circuit board (High Voltage supply board). Those springs simply press against a jumper wire on the face of the circuit board to make the electrical connection. Over time these parts get micro coatings of oxidation that interrupts the connections. Thus, even if the Waste Toner full switch is closed circuit ('zero" ohms measured between the left and right most contacts) the circuit board sees open circuit indicating a full box. Someone could take that board out and clean the contact and spring surfaces. I might suggest 500 to 1000 grit emery "wet/dry" sand paper (used in car painting prep). I would try to do this carefully in an attempt not to cut through the electro plated surfaces as the base materials will likely corrode faster. I think it would be wise to clean all the contact springs behind the PC board as they connect the Corona wires, grids etc, ( I suspect this is causing many of my "clean the corona wire errors I've been getting). There are at least a dozen of them.
      What I did : After getting access to the circuit board (getting the right side cover off is tricky) I measured from the board traces labeled "WTFD" - Waste Toner Full Sensor to "BCLN2" (meaning?) while the WT box was installed and got open circuit (should be closed circuit) . I just decided to solder a jumper between them (absolute closed circuit) and powered it up - NO MORE ERROR. I may just leave it like that as I will NEVER get to 40 k prints and I can pull the box and clean it every decade or two just for good measure. I'll also put a label on the box to remind my self ( yes. I getting to that stage in life). It seems to me that there is no diagnostic on the center tab so I have left the little plastic rings installed on the roller shafts. I think this contact is used to apply a voltage or ground to aid in toner collection.
      Now, for how to get the cover off. I pulled the tonner cartridges , the belt thing and the toner box and then rolled the machine on it's left side. Two screws, one in front on top (top when sitting in it's norm, position) and one behind the paper eject door in the rear. Start in the front to unhook the side cover. The plastic front edge needs to be pulled out to unhook from the black plastic "frame". At the same time lift the tap on top that had the screw holding it. Now, along the top edge you will see two thin slots in the metal rail. Use a small screw driver or such and push down in each slot to unhook the two side cover hooks. Now you should have the side beginning to come off in the front. Back where the rear screw was, pull out the edge to unhook that edge. Now the top should be getting free. Pull it out a bit (an inch or so). Now work along the bottom, from the rear unhooking as you go - kind-of pull down on the cover and it should unhook. I can't tell you exactly how the front lower corner gets loose, I just messed with it and it finally let go. To reinstall, hook the bottom edge and then swing the top edge in until it snaps on. ( I have no idea why the screws are needed ;-) .
      To take the PC board out is almost simple. Three screws and hooks around the edge and one wire connector on each end (just pull off) . BUT there is a ribbon cable in the middle that must be undone. Inside the machine, right behind the WT box is a plastic cover. Push it to the left while wiggle it (pro tip: press down on the right rear corner to unhook) and it should slide left and come off. Under it is the ribbon cable ( actually a flex circuit "cable"). It's folded up. Unfold it and now you can get the PC board out enough to undo the cable. Watch that no contact/springs fall out. You know what do do from here. Good luck with it.

They could've easily made this box reusable, instead of disposable! This is a needless expense on top of their already pricey as hell toner! ugh I've purchased several Brother printers over the years and never even knew this was a thing until just a few days ago! Guess when it comes to replacement time, I wont be headed straight to the brother section at best buy or AmAZoN!
