- Is this video I remove the waste toner box from a Brother HL-L3210CW Colour Laser Printer, I then clean out the waste toner box and reset the alarms so it can be used again.

Thanks for this! I hate throwing away such a gently used and specific component. Clearly a money grab since it looks so easy to open it and dump it out yourself.
Glad the video was able to help, definitely a money grab, there is no reason why you should have to throw this away and replace it.
when I opened mine, the switch was not triggered. After a bunch of trial and error, I noticed the electrical contacts were dirty, so I cleaned the contacts on the waste toner box and on the printer with a little sandpaper and alcohol and everything worked. Hope this comment helps others with the same issue.

Oh my goodness! Thank you! This saved me. I've tried this before on my old Brother printer and it would never work! Even adding a new WT box, it would not reset! I was worried the same thing was happening on my brand new printer. Thank you! 😀

Thanks, it worked for me for a few days after cleaning the waste (dust powder stuff), then got bad again. So I did the same thing again but used some towels and rubbing alcohol on the rollers. The roller was quite dirty as well. That seemed to fix the problem for me in addition to initially dumping the waste. Excellent detailed video!
Glad you were able to get it sorted. There's really no reason why Brother couldn't have made this easier for the user to do.
I did it. It works.
To my surprise it was very little dust inside. So I believe Brother programe the machine to report the need of a Waste Box after some time. (Around 5 years). Because in my opinion it did not need replacement. Since it was probably 5% of the capacity used.

I think I read somewhere it counts the pages printed, so it treats a few lines on a page the same as a whole page of text.
@@EasyConsoleFixes That is suposed to be the logic conclucion, but I have used about only 2.000 A4 in five years. So the box was almost empty.
You're lucky, mine is on the second full waste toner box on a printer that is only 3ish years old. First one replaced under warranty. I am here to check how to fix this because I figured it was just a box. Now I can cycle between the two and always have one available.
@@snoopdogie187 Good idea. Just do it carefully. Wear gloves, dust mask and an apron, because it is messy. If you can do it over table covered with newspaper or something. Is not difficult, just messy. Do it in daylight or with plenty light. Have a small disposeable painting brush, some paper towels, some wet paper towel and a couple of medium plastic bags with no holes in them to get rid of the dust and the used stuff.

Thanks! Saved me $50, a strip to the stationery store and enabled re-use of the WT box which is much more environmentally friendly than it going to landfill or having to be recycled.

I haven't had to clean mine yet, just checking for when I do. I thought they'd use a chip which tells it when it's full and can't be reset, so you'd have to buy a new one, it's nice to see it's a physical connector which is easy to reset.
Give them some time and they probably will make it a chip. When you have Dymo adding DRM to paper, Brother will start to feel they are missing out.

Just for those that it doesnt work, i did everything in the video, took it apart, put it back together, took it apart put it back together over and over and the message wouldnt clear. Then on one of the tries it just suddenly worked with no real reason why. So persevere with it and make sure it's all put back correctly.

Yes I used isopropyl alcohol. I'm wiping the chrome roller. Try not to touch the black one, a little wont matter but don't wipe it.

Whoever posted this video, should watch how others do it even more simple way. No need to remove little black lid on upper right corner at all. When you open the back cover, there is a black plastic lever on upper right corner. You just need to turn it anti clock by 90 degrees. It's safer than turning the white circle, you might break the inner black pins in the centre of white circle.

I have cleaned 3 times and it's spotless.the contacts are clean but I still get the "WT toner box ends soon " message. Does this message require a reset somehow other than a power reset.?
Can I just confirm you have the contacts in the closed (touching position) If so here's a link to a video I saw before a printer with your issue which may be worth taking a look at.

It was a little confusing about the contacts. The first view showed them touching then you spread them and then touched again. So are they supposed to be touching? I tried both ways, not touching and touching, and I still get a replace WT Box message.
The contacts should be touching. Mine hadn't reset yet so I just moved them to show would they would look like when reset. I'm not sure why you are still getting the message if you tried them touching. The printer should see it as a new waste toner box.
What I did was put the waste box in with the "switch" open(not touching) this makes the printer throw the message waste box full. Try to print a single page with the switch open and error message displayed. I then took everything back apart and closed the switch (touching) reinstalled everything and the message was gone. Hope that is clear and works for you!
I did this and it didn't work. Any further ideas?
Are you sure you have the little white plastic piece set to the correct position. Other than that I cant think of a reason it wouldn't work.

Hola, reiniciaste el cartucho correctamente. Debería estar en la posición en la que estaba cuando volví a colocar la pequeña tapa negra. Las dos piezas de metal deben tocarse.
Cuando quité la cubierta negra, la mía estaba en la posición OK, solo la moví para mostrar dónde estará cuando sea necesario restablecerla. Por eso lo muevo hacia atrás.
