I'm just a 53 year old guy and I have only been selling on eBay for 5 years but each of those years I have about a 30% - 40% drop in sales for about two to three months in the summer. I am okay with it. Its because of what I sell. I have a friend who makes a living catching blue crabs in North Carolina. At certain times of the year, it does not matter how hard he tries, he wont catch but a handful of blue crabs if any. He catches enough crabs in season to save money for the months he wont catch any. That is what I do on eBay. You can go out and find things that sell well in the summer if you like but there are other ways to get through it. Your not a failure if you experience a summer slow down. Your a failure if you didn't plan for it.

eBay is easy for certain products, but I'm also noticing with amazing high selling products they still lag at points unless you drop the price below other products that sold for more. Many times those products were in worse condition. eBay definitely screws with the algorithms too damn much. I'm still doing just fine and no how eBay works. My current account has been operating since 2000. I've watched the ups and downs of eBay and the selling issues. You can get as creative as you want, but if the economy lags, so will your sales. You need to be diverse in products. Items people need and items they want or desire. eBay is not for everyone. Flipping is not for everyone. If you think you're going to get rich quick, good luck. Sourcing is just one small part of this adventure. Good luck folks!

I enjoy your videos a lot n and agree 100% on being in control od your own destiny etc. Often you say "people dont want to hear this" and its followed with hard truths or just constructive criticism if you will. Respectfully i think you should sometimes flip it around take in your fans constructive criticism. Ive noticed youre very receptive to positive feedback but very defensive towards constructive criticism. Point being i think i speak for the vast majority when i say youre content lately had become very preachy and seems more like a life coaching video than ebay selling advice. For example some of the biggest pieces of s*** i know are successful. Bad husband, good husband, red fish blue fish its irrelevant. Stick to what got you here. Anything other than positive feedback you seem dismissive of, come off as "im smarter than you and I have nothing to learn from you." Maybe just maybe take your supporters word for it.

27 years old wow! You are so wise and I have learned so much from you. I am 75 and doing Ebay part time after retirement and I do not see people my age that have as much wisdom as you. You are a rare breed and must learn to have patience with those who don’t think like you, which is most of the world. I myself had to learn this the hard way. You go, sweetie. Find yourself a mentor. It will take time, but will be worth it. Keep up the good work you are doing great.
I started selling on eBay two months ago, and pretty quickly I started making sales. I build custom guitars, and have them listed here, along with general items. I was negotiating back and forth with a guy who was ready to buy. I attempted to send the last message, which was going to seal the deal, and when I hit send, my message was blocked because I had "exceeded" my daily allotment of messages I could send, and that I needed to wait 24 hours before I could resume messaging. I spoke with customer service and was told there was nothing they could do to over-ride it. So I complained to the CS agent, and complained in writing. Once I was able to message the buyer again, he responded that the 24 hour pause had given him time to cool off, and I lost the sale. Since then my listings are not getting any views, literally. So my question is this. Does eBay block listings over situations like this, and if so, how do I get back in good graces. I just have a gut feeling that this is what is happening.

I still blame shipping, I just dont let it stop me. When i ship a 300$ item and for some reason it doesnt get scanned at the post office. You are out of luck and 300$ loss.

I think when we improve things we CAN contol, it often has an unexpected effect on things we can't. The "extra" control "spills over" into other areas. In general, if ALL people loved themselves and put in the most care into everything in their lives, everything would improve, the world would be better as a whole, life would be better, for everyone. What's that saying, the way you do any one thing, is the way you do everything.... That's definitely true for me.

Out of debt. We worked 2 1/2 years to get rid of all our debt & pay our house before we were full-time in the business. Now we are at a point where my pension and social security I just started collecting Covers every day bills and the business works for us if we want to take a of vacation which is up the business. Trust me Jay is right It is a very stress-free life. We go to the mailbox once a week and all junk in the mailbox.
Keep getting better items and posting a minimum of 8 items a day, over the last two months I'm up over 81%!!!!
I agree, brother be the Beast you can be, plow through all those challenges. Learn to be a part of the solution and stop being a part of the problem.
Also, go into the forums, whether its AMZ or EB. The forums always have a thread "sales are slow". Always always, every week, every month. Unless you sell overseas - which has become impossible to do - the domestic economy goes up and down and consumers are finding ways to buy cheaper and buy elsewhere than online.
