I don't know why it took so long for me to find your podcast. I'm an old Boston guy and have listened to hours of your videos. You should write a book! My father grew up in Charlestown, and though he wasn't in the thug life, he knew some of these townies. Great content, please continue with your excellent podcasts.
Well we are glad you found us!! 🤗 And happy to hear that you like the content. Bet your dad had a few stories to share about the old Townies. We're working on a book. That's how the podcast came to be. Probably a year or so out until it goes to print. Many more episodes to come. We are taking a little rest in August, but Lara will be doing some shorts about what's to come in season 2. Thank you for listening 🤗
! was there from 1945 to 1958 , saw JFK in the Bunker Hill Parade about 1955 . I lived in the project on Polk St. , #33 at Walford Way . Was your Father a Boy's Club kid ?
If you put some hashtags like #mafia #organizedcrime or #boston in the description area it might help bring more viewers? I think it shows 3 hashtags? Great show👍 We're there any informants that came out of charlestown?
Thank you and thank you for the advice 😊 To the best of our knowledge there were no FBI informants in Charlestown in those days. But Dorothy Barchard was informing on the McLaughlin crew particularly after she and Spike O'Toole split up. We both believe that Dorothy told SA Rico where the feds could find George McLaughlin and Spike O'Toole when George was on the lam for the Sheridan shooting.
Thanks for your cool episode about the Bennett brothers ladies. So were Earl smith, Hugh shields and Steve Busias members of the Bennett gang? Did Steve Flemmi know Bill Stuart through his brother Jimmy or Wimpy?
Thank you 😀 Earl definitely was wrapped up with the Bennetts if for no other reason than geography, and later of course with the Flemmis. Hugh was more than likely running directly for Stevie rather than Wimpy, but that relationship eventually goes sour and Whitey eventually tries to kill him in 1973 I think. Steve Busias was more of a freelancer, but definitely on the Flemmi/Bennett side. Stevie Flemmi most likely met Stuart through Wimpy rather than Jimmy.
Question for the girls..@ the revere Beach meeting in 1969 do you believe that Frankie knew Steve F was a rat or that he just thought that Rico was a crooked fed on the payroll?
Good question! Considering that Rico and Condon had been visiting Stevie and Frankie since 1965 swapping intel, having his car repaired, critiquing their assassination attempts and Rico supposedly procuring a drop piece from Frankie, it is hard to believe that Frankie was not complicit in the whole thing. There are two CI numbers that were issued around the time that Stevie's number was issued. The holders of those two numbers have never been revealed. The limited 302s we have that include those two numbers point to Frankie and Johnny. We've submitted FOIA requests for both of those CI #s. If and when we get them, we'll be sharing the info in them. Long story short, we're of the opinion that Frank was a CI along with Stevie, but managed to make a deal with the Feds to keep that a secret.
You girls are a scream ! I new there was something wrong with that Bulger kid. It's just unbelievable that all the Winter Hill Gangsters were informants and no Townie ever were !

What happened to Sonny?
To the best of my knowledge he went AWOL and was never seen again.
