Bruce Anstey retained his SES TT Zero title with victory in this afternoon’s race at the 2017 Isle of Man TT Races fuelled by Monster Energy.
The popular New Zealand rider was never headed and won the race in a time of 117.710 (19:13.924) from his Mugen Shinden teammate Guy Martin (113.632/ 19:55.331) with Nottingham University’s Daley Mathison (109.209/ 20:43.748) taking the final podium place. Dean Harrison, competing for Belgian team Sarolea who achieved their fastest lap with a time of 108.064mph and won a bronze replica, finished fourth in 108.064/ 20:56.924.
Anstey had already established a commanding lead of over 10 seconds from Martin by the first checkpoint at Glen Helen with Mathison 14 seconds back in third but already establishing a 2 second gap over his nearest challenger Harrison in fourth.
By Ballaugh Anstey’s lead had stretched to 18 seconds from his Mugen teammate although Martin clocked the fastest time through Sulby speed trap with 162.9 to the Kiwi’s 162.1. The time was noticeable as it was faster than any of the Lightweight times through Sulby during the previous day’s race.
By Ramsey Anstey’s was a decisive lead of almost thirty seconds from Martin with Mathison maintaining third from Harrison.
Anstey maintained a healthy lead over the nine mile Mountain section and duly brought his machine home to win the race from Martin with Mathison claiming University honours in third and Harrison getting the Sarolea machine over the line in fourth after last year’s disappointment.
The returning Spanish rider Antonio Maeso brought the second Nottingham University machine home in fifth in a time of 91.197/ 24:49.385 with James Cowton for the Brunel University team in sixth in 90.963/ 24:53.229 , Adam Child on the MCN Moto Corsa seventh (78.848/ 26:42.662) and Matthew Rees (77.415/ 29:14.549) racing for Bath University in eighth.

I am sure Guy is doing just fine financially. He sells a lot of t.v. time because of his genuine personality. He can play mechanic all he wants to keep the gig going but in the mean time his endorsements are filling his bank account.

It' actually impressive for guy to be gone for so long and still come in 2nd in one of the events. That tells you a lot about his riding capabilities.

I don't know the first thing about motor bikes..... this appeared in my suggested videos for some strange reason..... safe to say I am now a Guy Martin fan. What a top lad.

One just gotta love Guy Martin for being able to keep the child in the man alive and well maintained! As an Austrian I´m mostly like "I got no bloody idea what he´s talkin about but BOY, it gotta be fascinating!" And you can see the love and excitement for everything he does in his eyes, I like that.

Good old Guy Martin. A proper Lincolnshire lad with a local accent. I spent the first 35 years of my life living there, so I can understand every word.
I absolutely love Guy Martin. If course i can't understand a word he says. I think maybe his mom can understand him. But he's a great human being. Very humble.

Fantastic, a podium for Guy after the week his had with the Honda. You know there seems to be too many anomalies with the Honda bike. I'm sure when he's had a chat to Nigel his Dog it will tell him to give Honda a miss.
He's not coming to the S100 this year and never was. We've known for a good while. Would be nice to see him back next year though. 😊

Very difficult try to win the tt when you're a mechanic who does it for hobby and not a 100% road racer. C'mon guy return again at least for that TTZERO win, at least TTZERO.

I am waiting for him to grow the fuck up, get a little discipline, he is way too selfish to be a success in a team sport. If he said to himself "the next TT I am going to do exactly as I am asked from my team and work with them" he would probably start winning. He was interesting when he first appeared but he never developed his skills he has just been happy to play the fool which is OK in tennis but in a team sport, selfish.
Amazing to hear Bruce say it was "really slow" - with 117mph average around here, I don't think so! At least not for the rest of us.
Bruce is a legend. I remember his 132mph lap like it just happened. If he wouldn't have overshot a single corner her would have had a 134. Amazing lap.
Guy is just a unique character and gets in to so many different things. Everyone wants guy to win, except the guy in front of him. That stupid 60 second penalty for speeding is just ridiculous... Still sour about that one.
But yeah, not everyone will gladly bail from a bike going 170mph. Guy has no issue with bailing and it saved his life.

I'm a massive Guy fan. A damn good racer, and he's been brilliant for road racing. Only thing is he's got so much stuff going on I fear we've seen the last of him at the TT. I hope I'm wrong.
