  • Project 39 fantrip. It went from Jamaica to Long Island City onto West Hempstead, Montauk and return.Took most of my video out east. Not to many people had video cameras back then. Happy the tapes held up. Couldn't shoot too much footage since I was riding on the train but spliced together some of the finer moments of the trip. Crank up the volume... the sound is excellent.

I've seen 151 just last week. It is now owned by NY&A Freight service and was at the Lumber yard in Yaphank.

I never saw those two diesels like that, when I was little back when we first moved out to Long Island back in 1997

I just read that there was a similar project 39 fan trip using 2 C420s, 222, and 229 with 6 cars and 619 on it. June 7, 1986.

It's the west end of Amagansett station. Yes the camera was big and heavy but I always bought the best quaility tapes and they have held up very well over the years.

awesome video, always looking for more of these, before those soulless engines took over they use now

The cars were P70s, or as I used to call them, rolling piles of crap. They still used them until 1999, but they had rusted so badly you could actually see the rails through holes in the vestibule floor. A/C never worked, sometimes lights didn't work, no PA, people smoked in the vestibules, doors never closed... ah, good times.

619 is an F7. It has no traction motors because it supplies the cars with electrical. That's why there are no side vents on the unit....

What kind of horn was that at the 2:00 mark on the MP15AC? Sounded like a Nathan P5, correct me if I'm wrong.

If you notice, some cars are higher than others. Well the higher ones are called P72s and were made by Pullman in 1955. The shorter ones were called P75s and came in 1963. These were known as World's Fair cars for the 1964 fair. these even had pneumatic doors-they were loud!

At the 6:41 mark...what station was that?
Also, for something from 1986...it looks like it was shot RECENTLY! You must've had a helluva Super-VHS Stereo camcorder that weighed as much as a toddler!
