I don't really have a "budget". I stay stocked up so that I am only buying sales. I save immensely. My husband is amazed at how little we spend. I use my digital coupons at my store. I watch the sales and what coupons I have. I rarely pay full price for anything and my pantries and freezer are well stocked! I recycle leftovers and we have very little waste. There is truth in that shopping on a full stomach and not going in hungry!
Great work. I just got my house to this point. Haven't paid full price for meat in 7 months and just got fully stocked for the essentials for food, hygiene items, non-food items, supplements, and OTC meds.
We are three people, my mom, nephew, and I. We spend between $600 to $700 a month! I told my mom we need to use up all the food we bought before buying any more. We need to cut back in this area.
I'm making all kinds of goals. Small to weekly. I have no idea what I spent on groceries or takeout. I'm glad this showed up on my feed. I just subscribed
I love your idea of having a separate debit card for groceries. What a great way to make sure you are not overspending. And the idea of separating your cart and making two separate purchases is great. We waste too much produce in my house also and have started keeping the trimmings in a bag in the freezer to just add to is helping me to use the produce because I like adding to that bag for broth.
This year my goal is $350.00 Costco run ONCE A MONTH ONLY😮(vs weekly) and 60.00 weekly for milk, eggs veggies and fruits at a local grocery store. I have a family of 6, so hopefully it goes well.
I grew up really poor..we didn't have paper towels or paper plates..we had dish towels. Now I keep 1 roll. For bad spills ect..but we still buy very little of this..also frozen, premade food..is very rare in our house. Self control is key
I love shopping online with a pickup order - easy to get a total with all calculations done for me. I do buy some produce and more specialized items separately at another store.
Thank you. This is always helpful to hear others ideas and break down each spending amounts . Living with my children for a period of a time, I have learned how to not use paper towels and compost my vegetable waste, make broth and many other great ideas.
I don’t know what we have been spending - it would be nice to have a starting point - but I would like to try $150 per person for our family of 4. We’re in northern Ontario - grocery prices are a lot higher here. But we have a lot stored away so kind of combining it with the pantry challenge at the same time. We def shop more than we eat and it breaks my heart when we have to throw stuff away.
If you’re not already, you can try setting aside one night a week to use up leftovers and those random ingredients you might have forgotten in the fridge. Supercook is a great way to find recipes that use specific ingredients, or you can just toss everything into a soup. We end up with some interesting combinations sometimes, but we rarely have to throw things out that way. 😁
Thank you for the information. I am on a limited budget this year and was wondering how to manage the grocery budget. I did have questions about the non-edible items that I have been buying, and you answered my question. Since I am an auditory learner, hearing you speak on this is awesome.
A friend told me that her mother would save bits of vegetables and meat and they had a soup pot that served for one meal of the day. She would freeze anything left over to make the soup.
Thank you Amy, I find your videos inspiring. I am going to seek out my recent Costco receipt to see what I actually spent on groceries. Separating out the household items will be so easy to do moving into 2025. Thank you.
For some reason i was under the impression that meat was really only supposed to be frozen for about six months . So your saying you buy and then your meat is still good after 18 months to 2 years ? I enjoyed your video , thank you for taking the time to share with us .
We have always stored meat in the freezer for one to two years as we buy in bulk from a local farmer. My family has done this our whole marriage and my parents the same when I was growing up. Just make sure the meat is wrapped in freezer paper or vacuum sealed. No freezer burn. Enjoy.
Meat kept frozen is SAFE indefinitely (bacteria does not grow at temps below freezing), it is the TASTE that does not survive indefinitely! Freezer burn is the most common reason that it starts tasting bad. Vacuum packing is the best way to prevent freezer burn.
Just came across your channel and was startled to here that you suffered from RSD. I am amazed at how well you are doing! Would you be interested in helping me to know how you recovered? I have a family member who has been affected for decades.

We keep track of their food, upkeep and other bills in their own budget. Pretty much as money comes in we assign where it will be spent and try to plan ahead for it.
I have absolutely no idea what we spend on groceries. My hubby eats all over the place & I only eat plant based so my bill can be as low as $10-$30 a week.

I was wondering when she was going to talk about how to save money on groceries- I don't have a pantry I don't have a bunch of cupboards or storage areas so no I cannot go buy bulk items much less buy enough meat to last me 2 yearsin one shopping trip. putting my groceries only on one certain card is not going to change the prices of the groceries. I'm totally not liking this site as the onfo does not work well for current grocery prices. not gonna buy abunch of cheap frozen veggies and beans.

I am only one person and I spend 35.00 a month. I have a well stocked pantry and freezer with homemade portioned healthy meals.
I find that hard to believe. $35 a week sure, but not $35'a month!
I can spend $35 a week just on Salad, fresh fruit juice, milk, and protein.
I think you meant 350.00 per month
@@denisescott3943maybe not.
$35 a month? Can you give an example of what you eat?
If you have a well stocked pantry and freezer you had to purchase those items at some point so $35 is misleading.

I repackage freezer foods in a good freezer paper and it keeps for years instead of months. You’ll lose less to freezer burn etc
Also vacuum sealing. Meats keep way longer!

You are right on your assumption regarding meat, best used within 6 months, after that at your own risk.
No, meat is good if frozen for up to 2 years. As long as it’s wrapped correctly there’s no problem.

Are these store bought rotisserie chicken or homemade?
Because those chickens are filled with hormones and preservatives.they pump the chickens with hormones to plump them up.stop eating them.
