I actually kinda like that the game doesn't have snap. It allows the weaker player to stay in back and still helping without being punished for the mistakes of the other one. The TOD's also seem mostly fine, except for that one with Illaoi that can kill with 2 bars from most non-light starters. As for fuse balance, the DHC fuse also seems like a training wheel, considering most characters can dump meter, tag out, and then have the other one dump meter as well.
"no motion inputs but long combos" is exactly the kind of thing you hear right before "but I just don't know why this isn't gripping the casual audience as much as we thought" It's the ur-example of why the folk wisdom exists that devs need to listen when players say they don't like something, but never listen to their solutions because they're nearly always wrong. I think fighting games in particular are a major victim of this because they're so fundamentally focused on the competitive scene that everyone just assumes that the people who complain about them must totally know what they're talking about
I think casual players like long combos to certain extent they just don't like feeling helpless or left behind; afterall, fighting zoners in a game favoring them can have the same effect. Everyone wants to do impressive combos against their friends and I don't casuals would gentleman if both players had easy access to long combos.
While I understand what you're saying, I wouldn't say that would lead to casuals not liking the game. Really, having a low skill floor and a high skill ceiling is the ideal in a competitive game. As long as the game has good matchmaking, the casual audience that doesn't spend days in training mode labbing out long combos shouldn't be get whooped by the people who do. This way, the beginners who are learning the game don't get thrashed, and the vets still get their depth. Also, I didn't even consider this until the devs brought it up, but they're making an effort to ease new players in. It's why the tutorial was so barebones; they didn't want to throw all the mechanics at them from the start and intimidate those who haven't really played fighting games. I would say the tutorial definitely could be better though, it omits a bit too much in my opinion. Finally, I got my friend, who has never played fighting games, to join me, and he was hooked immediately. The easy execution floor combined with the fact that he has me to rely on when in duos let him ease into it rather than being thrown to the dogs. He's been having a lot of fun labbing with me and finding new stuff at his own pace. So I wouldn't really worry about it not appealing to beginners since long combos aren't really a necessity to play this game, rather something to work towards as you gradually learn how to play the game at a basic level. Just my two cents

I am pretty Sure there will be zoners or long range characters. At the moment there are mosty meele champs in this game from lol. Once characters like jinx, vayne or ezrael come to the game they will be focused more on range combat.
I really hope that game gets a sequel it was my intro to one of my favorite fighting game franchise of all time and it was fun to play and I really liked the story I think they should change the dlc if it ever gets a sequel

Not to be rude or anything, but can I ask why you hate battle passes? I've always been under the assumption that they're generally better than just locking characters behind a paywall to make money that way, since cosmetics and limited stuff is purely optional, and you don't have to buy them. Heck I've never spent money on a battle pass, and I'm elated if I even get a small little free one.

as someone whos never played, or really interacted with anything LoL-related, besides I think watching a few episodes of Arcane a few years back, Im suprised how interested I am in this game, Im actually planning to get it, bc BBTAG was my first real fighting game, and is real special to me, and this game seems to be a lot like it, while also being a bit slower, and I also like that, bc Im now so used to Strive that I cant really go back to DBFighterZ without feeling like Im just mashing, so this might end up ticking all the boxes. While I understand the sentiment that people think fuses are unbalanced, personally I don’t mind if some are a little stronger than others because the inclusion of them in the first place encourages people to experiment and express themselves. Like even though Double Down is theoretically worse than 2X assist and Freestyle, from what I’ve played it’s still REALLY popular because big damage = dopamine. All of the fuses all you to do some crazy stuff and I think that’s awesome
My guess is that snaps will be added as a fuse down the line since DHC is one. They're probably still working on it so that it works with the game, because I think making the auto-combo system work in time for the open beta might've been their focus.

The matchmaking will pair you up with other people also using the matchmaking. I've played a lot of duos, and i got a say. It's bonkers fun. Ive said "why arnt you bursting?" More times then I can count. Being able to assist very often is nice too, because then as the assist character, i dont feel like im just waiting around doing nothing. Sometimes, it feels like we are gang beating the other guy. One problem with the alpha labs in my opinion, is I havent lost that often. My brother and I only ever got good at Soulcalibur, and 2D fighters are strange to me, but everyone we fight is using pulse fuse and obviously new to fighting games. Im still not using tag or meter effectively, but its a lot of fun anyways.
Generally a good idea for games in early access is to give share your positive feedback with your viewers (since the negative stuff will hopefully be fixed) and share your negative feedback with the devs (since that's what they need)
I think that riot making the game ftp and having skins + battle pass being the paid stuff is pretty cool. I hate having characters locked on my character select screen because I don’t want to pay 30 dollars for a game I already paid 70 dollars for. Even if you have to unlock the 2xKO characters it’ll be better than having to buy them
My only concern is riot vanguard. It's been a plague to my league of legends experience, others have experienced this as well. I do hope they fix it man
Part of I wonder why the decision to have no snap is due to the ability to play it coop. It would suck to play with a friend of a weaker skill level and the enemy try to cripple you by bullying them. Obviously if you are better and see them going for snap a lot you could react accordingly but that is a reason I can see.
As someone who, I'm gonna be honest, didn't care for MvC, I'm SO FUCKING HAPPY there isn't snap, or free pushblock, or any of the other outrageous and bullshit mechanics that game had.
As someone who played league and valorant a lot, I'm very concerned about monitization. I also dont like the absence of motion inputs, i get that they are trying to make it more appealing to non fighting game players but having the Option to use them would be nice.
i think this game does the thing about supers not being able to use one after another as well as the no snap and all the fuses because this game is created first as a 2 player experience and it leaves a lot of agency in both players because the "assist" isnt just an assist is supposed to be another player wich is why you cant tag them out because it would feel bad for one player to just be taken out of combat and relying in the other player to tag them in when they assist because the assist is supposed to only come out when the other player think it should be a good timing the same happens when that burst thing is used its supposed to be the other player helping you out and getting you out of trouble i think that is why also the 2 players have their own super bar and its not shared i feel like its supposed to give as nuch control as they can for both players without any of the players being just incapable of doing anything while the other one plays and if your assist gets punished it would overall feel less bad to you being hit just because you were wrong rather than being poked out because the other person is just using assists at bad times and suddenly you have way less life than you would have if they did not use it it limits things i guess but at the same time i think its supposed to be a way both players feel less bad about most things because mostly if you happen to be hurt it would be your fault and not the other player throwing you into the fire and you being punished for it also add me on discord i mean i mean sorry i mean ฅ^•ﻌ•^ฅ
I signed up to the beta as soon as it was announced and i managed to get access to the Beta but sadly for me because 2XKO does/will use Vanguard which I refuse to install, I cannot enjoy the game. I hope everyone else can get access to it and enjoy the game whilst I hope and pray for Vanguard to change or be replaced.
Im just waiting for the Vi reveal. I dont play League so most of these characters mean nothing to me. We all know Vi is going to be in the game, I dont know why they are being coy about it.
