Goku was never responsible for the tournament of power. The 2 zennos wanted to erased all universes and start over. Goku's idea of the tournament actually gave people a chance
Correct, but no one learns that until it’s all over. As far as everyone is concerned, including Goku himself, this entire thing is completely his fault. I think that makes things interesting, as pretty much no one that actually knows him personally holds him accountable except for Beerus. The other universes, however, don’t know Goku. And Goku himself basically feels no remorse for, to his own knowledge, being indirectly responsible for trillions of deaths. Learning after the fact that it was going to happen anyway also doesn’t seem to affect him at all. I do wonder what he was thinking about all of this. He’s not as stupid as Super tended to try to portray him. He actually used to feel things like guilt more outwardly, like the ending to the Cell Saga, where he dies and stays dead entirely out of guilt and obligation. I’m not criticizing anything. Just wishing we could’ve got more mileage out of the other universes and characters blaming Goku for the situation.
@@levistewart8856I think Goku feels no remorse as he was so confident he would win and his only goal was to fight the strongest and afterwards would wish everyone back.

I'm gonna be honest, I was not feeling the Roshi cut to bring in Buu and keeping Frieza. Don't get me wrong, the Roshi/Gohan training segment was extremely cool, but Frieza's recruitment was an absolute last resort made from desperation, I don't think Goku would willingly bring him in if there were other options, and I think Buu is criminally underutilized in this rewrite to the point that Tien could've stayed and the story wouldn't change at all, but A SUPER SAIYAN GOD RITUAL WITH THE U6 SAIYANS? YOU ARE COOKING 🔥🔥 Can't wait for next week.
Im guessing Buu is going to play a part at the very end. But leaving Roshi out and taking away that almost death scene with Roshi meant to make Goku finally take things a little seriously is criminal
I think buu has been underutilised so far, he could be used as an instant zenkai boost since hes shown the ability to heal or just used as a healer throughout the tournament in general
I love how goku fights almost by himself all of the top figthers, I really felt that it was a missed opportunity to make them fight as a team. It also makes a lot of sense that gohan would make the plan beforehand, specially as vegeta tries to defeat jiren, I mean, you did wonders with this
It makes sense for roshi not taking part since his whole thing is "the next generation" But the weird thing is that roshi is stronger than tenshinhan. In Tenshinhans own episode he got beat up by roshi
That episode was awful. Tien has been miles ahead of Roshi since Dragon Ball, even beating Goku in a tournament. Since then, he's only gotten stronger, and Roshi's growth surpassing his makes no sense.
Fantastic video as always, Mark! I hope you properly conclude the Tournament of Power Arc in the next video. And the Broly movie becomes an anime saga like BoG/RF.
Really cool rewrite, my favorite so far. And an awesome cliffhanger, really tying the whole Super story together! The one thing I'd add is that I found the setting of the tournament a bit boring. Just a big brawl in what eventually becomes just a pile of rubble. I always thought that if you're going to do a "everyone goes in all at once" tournament, make it a Hunger Games-y set up where everyone is in a huge area with varied locations and has to track each other down in addition to just fighting.
9:05 That's just outright false, Piccolo and Goku aren't dumb enough to just raise Gohan's power level and not teach him martial arts fundamentals at all at this point. Not to mention the fact Gohan since he was a child can consistently fight Goku and the others when he's either weaker or as strong as them means he has high level martial arts skill so Roshi teaching him wouldn't really do anything. 21:48 But the Gods of Destruction, Angels, Grand Priest, and Zeno who are infinitely stronger than these 2 made up fighters would know they're cheating so this strategy wouldn't work.
Personally I would've actually preferred if instead of Roshi not participating, it would be Krillin. I really liked the approach that GT took with Krillin, and how even though he started out the same way as Goku, diverged into a family man as he got older. Subsequently, 18 COULD also not participate along with Krillin. This way, Roshi can participate and so can Buu according to Mark's rewrite (although Yamcha action would be nice too). This way everyone wins.
The character development and the change in perspective of Toppo towards Goku is exactly why I was upset that they never fought each other in the ToP in the anime.
Ok, seeing Shaggy and Homer on a DBS video was something i wasn't expecting 😂 Great re-writing of the DBS saga. Lets hope to see the continuation of the DBS series... i hope on the next 10 years 😂
Buu falling asleep issue is I think one of the most annoying retcons in the series no one ever talks about. If anyone remembers it from DBZ. There is actually a scene where Buu goes to sleep in the house he built outta people. You know how long it took him to get a full rest? 5 SECONDS! Why is it he was able to fully rest from only 5 seconds of sleep while in Super it takes him days /weeks/months for him to wake up????
Here's another thing: If you're really not gonna have Goten and Trunks in there, at least establish an age limit in the TOP to justify their absence. Kids and teenagers aren't allowed. There, now it makes sense to not have Gotenks in there.
The Roshi training Gohan change was beautifully done. Gohan’s changes in this are so satisfying. Goku being the villain to the other universes and that mattering, excellent. Finally your approach with 17 & Buu is brilliant. I’d take a full episode of them being the most unlikely but amazing duo carrying out Gohan’s orders. Such a smart move to have those two go after the mid tier fighters. AI needs to get better so this rewrite of super can be a reality. Thank you for your sensible and daring changes!
it obviously wouldn't work for a rewrite, but I do have to hand it to the sparking zero what-if where trunks joins this arc. Having him face his hangups with 17 and 18 was a really compelling angle to present this story from
I met frosts voice actor a few months ago and ever since I had this deeply emotional conversation with him about his brother and DBS production I can't ever look at the Frieza frost fight the same ever again in the best way possible
Discovered your channel through the One Piece analyses. I'd love to see more of them as your grasp of character and story is unique and I haven't watched any other shonen
Talking about fan ideas, I always wanted that Fututr Trunks were part of the Tournament, and as a wish he could want to revive his timeline without Zamas
We actually got that thanks to sparking zero. Although he ultimately decided that his wish didn't matter when weighed against the loss of all the other universes.
Honestly, that idea, is worthy of the Super Dragon Balls. Reviving an entire timeline would be such a good motivator, but it falling short from reviving the other Universes being erased. Honestly, that sounds selfless enough to warrant his wish being granted by Future Zeno himself. Future Zeno may have felt satisfied after the ToP, and decides to have his Grand Priest use his Temporal Do-Over to undo the Future timeline's erasure as repayment for such a good time.
Removing Roshi truly is the biggest crime Though its funny that he says he taught them everything he knows Because like.... No one uses his special techniques Just the big blue beam
I had to stop for the first time, since exceptionally enjoying this series Mark and his amazing team had put together, when Mark decided not to include Roshi. That to me was the biggest glaring change I even remotely had disagreed up until this point. Until I heard what Mark had planned for him with Gohan and I was absolutely gobsmacked in the best way possible. This re writing feels so impactful and damn near cathartic to many of the story beats that felt abandoned on the once mainline characters tossed to the sidelines by Super and even Z to some extent. Exceptional job. I havent enjoyed a video series let alone a dragon ball franchise video series this much I think ever.
Roshi not being in the tournament makes sense, they definitely beefed him up after Z with Resurrection F and it felt like he was there more as a person who has witnessed Goku's journey and to play a role as the "wise guy who is to be respected not by his strength, but by his knowledge" you see all the time. I still love the manga bits with Roshi dodging Jiren's attacks like Ultra Instinct, but I think there's a way to sneak it into training, either before this arc with some training with Master Roshi or after when Goku wants to learn how to master it. I like the change to Roshi's role here as we don't really see him interact with Gohan or train him, which I think is ripe for some great fighter-knowledge training Gohan could definitely use.
I hope Mark comes back around to talk about anyone having a good fight with Aniraza, tho. As I think, it was an extremely important team-up fight for Universe 7, so cutting it out completely would be rather rough, buddy. I'm pretty sure, a team-up between Boo, the Androids and Super Saiyan God Gohan (if the teaser at the end wasn't a fluke) would work pretty well here. After that we could have Gohan VS Kefla to complete his journey in this tournament, as this was also the biggest and most noteworthy change in the Manga compared to the Anime - other than Roshi fighting Jiren, of course. But I guess, we can't have to much fun here. Regardless, I am very hyped to see how you will conclude this storyline, Mark!
Why would Jiren believe in friendship? His family, friends and allies were all killed by the heretofore unknown Villain. Every time, he was WITH his friends and allies, and they always died. The train of logic that leads him to think A. I'll fight alone and not risk losing anyone else. B. I always survive- anybody else would just be in the way. makes perfect sense and is the perfect antithesis to Dragon Ball's ongoing belief that teamwork and friendship and trust in one another is the way to win. Not Jiren's fault Super's writers aren't talented enough to make that ultimate conflict of ideals actually work.
And for that matter, what's the deal with this 'the more his back is to the wall, the stronger he gets'? How does combat even WORK in this show? Like, you have a well of Ki. But if you blow through that Ki then you're helpless which was the problem with Freeza's golden form during its debut. But in Super you can just... randomly... have more Ki? And just second-wind yourself an endless amount of times? Why did Vegeta give his remaining energy to Goku when he can just 'have more'? And how did Goku have enough energy to fight Jiren along with Freeza if the amount of strength you're putting out doesn't lessen over time and Jiren is at-base stronger than anybody else in the tournament? And doesn't 17 have limitless stamina? Why was he injured and tired at the end of the tournament? WHAT ARE THE STAKES?! WHO'S WRITING THIS TRASH!?
I did like the ending but I felt the tournament basically turned into the "no, I will be the one to eliminate him, you stand back" show, especially with goku, freeza and vegeta, which I really hated and I appreciate you leaning more into the teamwork element.
Man, I'd love to see this guy rewrite the Miraculous Ladybug series. It's supposably for kids, but still delves into dark themes. But it really fell off after season two. I like how this guy thinks and he could probably make that show more enjoyable.
I was willing to fight you for excluding Roshi, but that bit about him training Gohan brought a tear to my eye 🥲 Work hard, study well, and eat and sleep plenty! That is the Turtle Hermit way! 🙏

Great Saiyaman vs Toppo. Needs to happen in this version.
roshi: "is there someone else u need to consider"
yamcha: "finally my time to shi-"
mark: "SIKEEEE, FRIEZA FOREVER!!!"
That Cliff hanger made me stop and go "That's so fucking cool!!" Good catch Mark, really love it!
Make sure to pull up Mark's pants when you're finished buddy
What makes you say ill finish?@@Kyle_Broflovski740
@Kyle_Broflovski740 remember, it's dick sucking to like anything and express it with direction at the creative responsible. That's why cool people never like anything ever.
@@jaythekid4728 To him, it’s less about avoiding mistakes and more about cleaning them up afterwards. That does kinda track with his character. Don’t simply apologize-fix the problem yourself.
I mean, yeah, that's what super said. I can't help but feel like that was only tacked on at the very end. Done so Goku doesn't come off as a selfish, multiverse destroying prick.
YOU ARE COOKING 🔥🔥
Can't wait for next week.
If Kefla have SSG it will be The End to all of us NOOOOOOOOOOOO!
It also makes a lot of sense that gohan would make the plan beforehand, specially as vegeta tries to defeat jiren, I mean, you did wonders with this
Wow, the idea of Gohan training with Roshi is something i never knew i wanted.
This video was amazing like all the rest! Can’t wait for next week to come!
4:45 To this day, the only episode of super that I haven’t seen is the episode where Tien gets eliminated.
PEAK DROPPED (Seriously, i love this series already)
34 seconds ago is crazy. Loving this rewrite Mark!
Dickriding Mark huh
"you might be thinking how can this be-" No mark I was thinking "was the MF ultra instinct Shaggy?"
Man wat SSJ GOD 😯 that was truly surprising. Well done
Mark you can't just DROP THAT BOMBSHELL AT THE END oh my god. I'll be waiting for part 2!
20:20 I think you meant Gohan's plan .😉
I hope Mark realizes that the real reason Buu was omitted from the real Grand Tournament is because he can heal.
Ok?? It’s fiction. You could easily just write it so that jiren eliminated him
Really cool rewrite, my favorite so far.
Ok, seeing Shaggy and Homer on a DBS video was something i wasn't expecting 😂
Great re-writing of the DBS saga.
After episode 11, a new mark video, eff yeah, gift that keeps on giving.
I get so excited when mark uploads a video, already predicting 10/10 video let’s see
Here's another thing: If you're really not gonna have Goten and Trunks in there, at least establish an age limit in the TOP to justify their absence.
This was INCREDIBLE! I would watch rewrites of the Super arcs that are manga (and movie) exclusive honestly
it obviously wouldn't work for a rewrite, but I do have to hand it to the sparking zero what-if where trunks joins this arc. Having him face his hangups with 17 and 18 was a really compelling angle to present this story from
what a cliffhanger! I'm loving this! Keep up the good work Mr. Not Mark!
Mark your retelling are so good im acc sad we cant see these become canon i love the idea of super focusing on more of the cast
During lunchtime? Man this is simply peak timing
Love your Videos Mark, theyve stuck with me through every good and bad in my life, much much love.
Love the content! Thank you to Mark and all of his team!
“….IS A SUPER SAIYAN GOD RITUAL.”
*Leaves us hanging*
I am starting to hate this guy who’s Totally Not Mark😃
Bro whipped out the fucking ssg ritual and said be a good boy and wait
gohan vs hit is probably the best fight i never knew i needed
Loved this series keep it up man
Ok wasnt expecting that at the end. This is a pretty interesting rewrite so far
The ritual cliff hanger is amazing. I’m loving the rewrites focus on Gohan. I always thought he should’ve taken over as main character.
MARK YOU ABSOLUTE MAD MAN I CANNOT BELIEVE YOU CUT THIS INTO PARTS
The rewriting keeps getting interesting. I am looking forward to the ending.
Dude this is great , feels like I’m watching an actual anime
Omg.that cliffhanger though. That would be mind bendingly cool
THE CLIFFHANGER 😩😩 merry Xmas tnm team !!!
Woohoo! This is Insane. Can’t wait for the finale!
Omg mark whyyyy such a cliffff hanger! 😂😂😂😂 I love this series your doing. Can’t wait til the finale
27:29 That line rings pretty hollow when LITERALLY EVERYBODY THERE is fighting because LITERALLY EVERY UNIVERSE is in danger.
Removing Roshi truly is the biggest crime
Though its funny that he says he taught them everything he knows
Because like....
No one uses his special techniques
Just the big blue beam
YOU CANT DO THAT MARK WTF DUDE
"ssj god ritual" THEN WHAT? PLEASE MARK. I NEED IT NOW!!!!!!
I agree that Super had the best DB ending out of all the series. All the other endings jarred me for decades. This was a good video
This has to be the most blue balling cliffhanger. Damn you Mark!
Yeah thanks for that, i really wanted to spend my entire xmas wondering who tf gets to be ssg from U6, thats so great... thanks....
With all the training you're making Gohan do, I really want to know how it changes the events of Super Hero. Good Job Mark!
great work
6:02 that just...killed meXD i love your editor mark he is hilariousXD
Professional glazer
That ultra instinct theme really hits so damn hard
the idea to use of DBFZ footage when in talks about Gohan and Hit were so nice.
Why would Jiren believe in friendship? His family, friends and allies were all killed by the heretofore unknown Villain. Every time, he was WITH his friends and allies, and they always died.
The train of logic that leads him to think
This series is pretty good!
Mark, as always, fantastic stuff
oh my god I actually gasped out loud at the ending to this one. Fucking GENIUS idea and I cannot wait to see where it goes
I did like the ending but I felt the tournament basically turned into the "no, I will be the one to eliminate him, you stand back" show, especially with goku, freeza and vegeta, which I really hated and I appreciate you leaning more into the teamwork element.
Dude, you definitely know how to do cliffhangers, damn, lmao.
Can't wait for next week
Glazer
I wish some people drew some parts of your story. especially the upcoming ending. Do we have any talented artists here?
Man, I'd love to see this guy rewrite the Miraculous Ladybug series. It's supposably for kids, but still delves into dark themes. But it really fell off after season two. I like how this guy thinks and he could probably make that show more enjoyable.
I love what you did for Gohan. This is my headcanon now.
Really didn't expect this one to come out so soon after the previous.
Maybe my memories bad but didnt Goku already have a target on his back in Canon? Great video as always Mark
Oh. You. Devil! That is one heck a cliffhanger
That ending dude was a nice cliffhanger that DB haven't give me in a long time.
Oh snap! I did not expect that ending!
I was willing to fight you for excluding Roshi, but that bit about him training Gohan brought a tear to my eye 🥲
Work hard, study well, and eat and sleep plenty! That is the Turtle Hermit way! 🙏
How dare you end this video like that! I have to go back to work thinking about that now! Rude! Lmao
Fr though I'm SOOO on board with anything showing the u6 Saiyans more love! Let's freakin go!
