True, but I guess not DQ'ed from putting it in the title. @@efraimmedina461 Yes, and? If you are a meat eater, your argument is hollow, even more so if you eat fish. Hunters and spearos are amongst the most selective meat "harvesters" you will ever find. Commercial fishing destroys reefs and has tons of bycatch issues. The farmed fish industry may be what we have to do to save our oceans, but as of now, it's polluting like crazy and many "products" from there are chuck full of growth hormones and antibiotics. Raising live stock is a huge industry which generally pollutes, encroaches on natural lands and has animal welfare as a low priority. A wild animal that led a free life until it was killed by a human, selectively and then eaten may sound harsh, but is it better to have millions of live stock living in so-so conditions only for the sole reason of being fed to us? Both are instances of humans killing animals for food. But meat neatly wrapped in the supermarket means the consumers are so removed from that simple fact. My biggest cuby I've ever speared was a out 45lbs and I've caught 2 on rod and reel that both was in the low 60lb range. Super neat fish and one awesome fish to target. It's always fun throwing out a nice 1 to 1.5lb lobsters and to get a cubey but then half the time or more your gonna get sharked as you just can't get them up fast enough to get away from the sharks. It's a fun fish to target on rod and reel it's very interesting fishing for them and the smaller 10-15lb cubera are absolutely AMAZING EATING FISH, my 3rd fav only behind yellow eye snapper as my number one and yellow edge as my number 2!

An hour for one fish! (And that bonus Cobia stone 😂) what a way to tell a story man. Absolutely epic video. Did you know it was a potential WR before getting a weight? Or before using scuba to recover it? If so mad props for going the safe and sure route to ensure you landed it. If not, that fish doesn’t weigh any less or leave less of a memory because you brought it up with bubbles. Good job dude, congrats.
Fishing doesn't even interest me in the slightest but I still loved this video. The shots of you coming to the surface with that giant fish in hand were simply incredible and really showcased just how huge the fish was. Excellent work and congratulations on your world record.
I praise you for having the balls to do this type of dive, my dad whos a seriously experienced free diver/ scuba diver lost a friend a couple years ago because he shot too big of a fish and it wrapped him up on the rig really deep . He didn’t have a buddy with him so by the time they noticed he was missing topside, he had already passed.. Good man #pullinskirts was their motto

Great video and congratulations...... a big cubera is the fish of a lifetime in the gulf. Scuba or not its an amazing accomplishment..... some would watch the video and think it looks easy but i live to spearfish. Its not as easy as it looks Congrats again... you did everything right. From leaving him the first trip to upsizing the gear. Great job
damn I wonder how long that fish took to get that size cause I know they grow super slow and can live really long that would have been hard for me to kill that guy but what a massive fish that is. He was trying his best to get that spear out really crazy how much damage they will do themselves to get something off. Very cool footage man def something to remember.
@@jakru9909 lol yea thats a shit ton of meat and probably not gonna taste the best due to the age of the fish. I myself think it was bad decision on killing it.

In a career consisting of around 2000 spear fishing dives I had potential shots on three separate #100 pound class Cuberas…. Including one I stalked at the same spot on a half a dozen different days…. And I screwed them all up. Never shot one over 40# or so. Congrats. You harvested efficiently. Very commendable use of free diving and SCUBA as well…. And oh yeah my last dive boat was an Imemsa W25 panga as well.
I am not sure how well this process works with salt water fish fillets but when we freeze walleye we put washed fingers in a freezer zip lock bag then add fresh water until your fillets are completely covered with fresh water then throw it in the freezer. I have had walleye in the freezer for 6 years with no freezer burn at all and have been doing this for over 50 years of fishing ,,,, never any freezer burn and is like eating fresh walleye that you caught, cleaned and cooked the same day Y

Absolute legend!! Im subbed up! Congratulations 👊🏼👊🏼
Thank you!! Been loving the submarine vids man!
@@BradenDives coward :)
Hi friends, let's watch our excitement in finding a very fierce land monster, of course there are many sensations.
Legend of what??? With Air tanks not legend at all
@@tiokann I'm in complete agreement. BFD. Brats with a $1K+ in gear on a glass day...don't break a sweat... and pull a trigger on a brainless harmless old boy. BFD. The fish is legend...surviving blue water for 50 years...only to be cherry picked by a couple of f*cktards with GoPros. Maybe they could video a Giant Panda hunt at the zoo?
bro , that is a monster !! You are definitely a pro at spearfishing !
This channel just popped up on my UA-cam page I’m glad it did this was awesome never watch this stuff before it’s really interesting good job I’m a big archery hunter so this is pretty cool to watch. the underwater stalk was almost exactly the same as a blacktail spot and stalk except I can breath! What would you guys have done if it went to the bottom because it sounded like even at 85 feet it was a pretty big deal for you guys. I’m just curious
congratulations on the catch! glad yall were able to cut it up and cook it hell yeah haha
Amazing production, amazing story and what an amazing fish! Congrats! Truly a fish of a lifetime. Success is when preparation meets opportunity. You earned this moment my G.
Thank you Brett! Really appreciate the kind words! 👊👊
Hi friends, let's watch our excitement in finding a very fierce land monster, of course there are many sensations.
Amazing production? the audio is absolute trash
The marine life footage in this video is stunning.
Awesome catch. I was worried the first line would get cut on the rig. I believe your first shot pretty well did him in. Also great shot on the cobia. I haven't heard them called Ling in so long it took a second for me to know what it was. That's a huge fish.
That is huge. Congrats man🎉
Fantastic video guys and congrats on a fish of a lifetime! Well laid plans came to fruition. It would be cool to know the fishes age.
Very impressive fish. You’ve got grit. Really enjoying your Panga and spear fishing videos. I’ve watched a lot of YBS ocean adventures over the years. Nice to see some off of our Texas Gulf Coast. Thanks for the content.
Great fish, but also a great story. Love the work you put into editing this. Congrats man!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the story/production side of it!
Daaaamn.. As a young spear fisher I salute you mate.. Respect 💯 💪
Well worth the wait. I see you every now and then putting in and leaving PortA. Can’t wait for the next world record. Get after it sir!
Thank you!!!
@@BradenDives first time my wife and I saw that Ponga cruise past us we were about 20miles off on a 55gallon barrel and a ton of weed. My wife looked at me and said “nope, not for me!” Caught my only TripTail ever on that barrel!
Patiently waiting for your next content… super stoked for you bro… you doing something right…!
Start to finish, an excellent adventure! What an awesome beast you bagged (literally, after the cleaning😉), and I was interested at how productive the
decommissioned rig was. We're just starting that same process, for the same reasons, here in the Santa Barbara Channel.
Hi friends, let's watch our excitement in finding a very fierce land monster, of course there are many sensations.
What a big fish!😯
Hell of a fish, that a good honorable mention in the record books. Almost an official record.
This would have destroyed the record and held for soooooo long
@@matthewwarner5043 yessir. It would've killer fish.
I enjoyed your adventure, bro it's like I was there too, and thoes dishes looked extremely delicious love the way it was fried up all nice, love from Jamaica 🇯🇲.
Excellent work and congratulations on your world record.
der der der derrrr
I think the hardest part of this whole trip was getting that shaft out of that block target in the pool 😂 congrats brother you earned it 🤙
Haha the block is no joke. I had to unscrew the slip tip every time I shot it.
I appreciate it! 👊👊
Excellent Video. Your preparation paid off. Great job!
What a story, and what a beast of a fish. Thank you :)
IT'S HERE! ❤️❤️❤️
This is SO GOOD!
"How I spearfished a world record Cubera Snapper, free diving."
Unbelievable! Amazing!! Speechless!!!
47:37..."Braden... he's bigger than you!"
I'm beyond happy for you! Absolutely incredible! 💪Congratulations👋
And to do it all with Blake, who also shot one heck of a Cobia! 💪👋
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Video!
God is good... every day 🙌
Can’t thank you enough for the kind words and support! Truly appreciate it 💪
Wow! Awesome video. Sitting here playing poker and came across this video and was hooked!! Congrats!!
I watch a LOT of fishing videos on UA-cam, and told my wife that I don't think I've ever enjoyed one more than this one. From the Practice to the Plate it was Great!
Be wise and careful out there, I am SO glad you had that oxygen tank!!
God Bless
Woah what a amazing fish and amazing vid one of those story’s that had to be on film for it to be believed im subbed up big time congrats bro 😊
Worth the wait, well done to you and your brother.
Thank you!! 👊
Great video and congratulations...... a big cubera is the fish of a lifetime in the gulf. Scuba or not its an amazing accomplishment..... some would watch the video and think it looks easy but i live to spearfish. Its not as easy as it looks
Congrats again... you did everything right.
Was thinking same thing, I'm sure this fish is sitting in his freezer waiting to get freezer burnt and thrown out after a year. Waste of an animal.
@@jakru9909 lol yea thats a shit ton of meat and probably not gonna taste the best due to the age of the fish. I myself think it was bad decision on killing it.
@@jakru9909 actually if you watch till the end he said it tasted great and they finished all the meat
@@isaiahm42 I'm sure they did......
I enjoyed watching your video and envy what you've accomplished !! I would recommend having large catch bags and plenty of ice to preserve any future fish you may go after. Take care of all of the fish you may target in the future . GREAT FISH ; INCLUDING THE COBIA !!
Finally, Wow I thought you were going to need stiches or at least a helmet. What great planning. Blake was a big part also, great team work. I was worried when the one side was torn up but the other one looked great. Glad the other man came out to weigh it. Congrats. Has the papers been files and returned ?
every time I go there the actions really good, Tim's super nice and the pond in the area around is so beautiful and quiet. great place to learn fish and just catch without any pressure
Absolutely congrats to you both! What a fish, what a well explained video.
Would really appreciate if you make a video explaining speargun settings, specially regarding reel and nylon (brackets also). Planning to go offshore and I would not like to have my nylon or bracket broken if I shot a fish like yours!
Take care, really enjoyed the narrative in the video, from start to end.
Dude you did a great job with the video. I loved it
👍I loved all the story, narration and recording about catching this giant fish, at first underwater I could not speculate its size and hugeness, but outside the water, I knew how much effort it took to catch it.
That fish did exactly what you were hoping for!
Congrats Braden epic all the way 🤙👍🤿😃 Amazing execution on point on par and yes all that with your nerves and adrenaline pumping makes for an exciting adventure! I can't even begin to imagine every time he sat down for a meal of that fish the since of pride, accomplishment and appreciation you had remembering the experience of that hunt! This is one of those memories you will carry a life time 😃 🤙 Cheers, #SeattleRingHunter
Hi friends, let's watch our excitement in finding a very fierce land monster, of course there are many sensations.
Long ago I caught a 40lb Cubera in the Yucatan and I thought it was big. DAMMIT SON..! THAT is one big ass fish. And to spear it free diving on a Rig. Wow..! Very entertaining video.
A fish of a life time. That's insane how big it was.
Man...this is some of the coolest stuff...WOW....That meat looks great for such a huge fish, that you would assume is a "older"!!
Thank you!!! Meat was great, didn’t find a single worm either. I find worms in 40 lb amberjack so I thought that was interesting.
@@BradenDives That is exactly why I mentioned it. lol..because I have as well....
Very impressive dude 🤯 congratulations 🎉
May not have the official record but you got a new sub. Looking forward to more of this
Thank you for share with us your fishing activity always careful watching from Philippines.
Congratulations!!!! That's so amazing!!! Let's feast brudda! 🤙
Thank you!!
Great vid . The footage was amazing from start to end .
Flawless execution on the entire plan!!! Please tell me you got that record fish mounted? Once in a lifetime experience and we got to ride along, congrats!!!
Really appreciate this comment!!! Glad I got to share it, it truly was a once in a lifetime kind of day. Very fortunate it went as planned.
I plan on getting the fish replica mounted- I didn’t want to waste the meat. It was great eating. I did save the jaws though!
This video was crazyy i thought I was in there 🔥🔥🔥
I am not sure how well this process works with salt water fish fillets but when we freeze walleye we put washed fingers in a freezer zip lock bag then add fresh water until your fillets are completely covered with fresh water then throw it in the freezer. I have had walleye in the freezer for 6 years with no freezer burn at all and have been doing this for over 50 years of fishing ,,,, never any freezer burn and is like eating fresh walleye that you caught, cleaned and cooked the same day
