      GoodeZilla u certainly made myblife a little easier... hahah....i have the same driftworks kit,that ball joint separator is most def the option i'll be using lool....

    • @josbanse
      @josbanse 8 років тому

      You kinda went the hard way. The rear steering unit just comes right off with the lines when you undo the banjo bolts. The small stiff lines can be left attached as you probably noticed after you did this. Kinda sad to see hicas deleted when working but what are you gonna do, saves some weight at least

      josbanse My HICAS system had been acting up on me, so I wouldn't say it was "working" as intended.

      teammusketeers I'm glad it can help you get the job done! I tried using the ball joint separator on the passenger side, but it didn't work :( Good luck with it!

      Were you able to keep power steering? Is it possible to leave the lines in and just loop them where you disconnected in the back?

    Good job removing the system, awesome explanation and edit. I'll definitely feel more comfortable doing mine after watching this. Appreciate the hours it took to setup cameras in the right position, replace memory cards, recharge batteries, edit and produce. Great job UA-cam GT-R King!

      Hey man, thank you for the compliment. It does take quite a while doing all the behind the scenes stuff as well as making the job a lot longer trying to record the process and explain what I'm doing haha. But I think it's worth it. Take care!

    U can remove all of the hicas bs with the plenum out. Just did it. Needed to replace all those 30 year old coolant lines under there. One started pissing the other day. Now I'm just doing every single thing you can do with the plenum out including a new starter, iacv, and regulator. Great vids man always a big help!

    Having owned a 1990 GTR for 17 years now & do Regular track days & love the Hicas! Also faster around the track than locked up Hicas.

      why do people get rid of the hicas, i own 2 r32 gtrs and they handle like a dream with the 4ws. Ive heard of old racing teams saying its no good with slick tyres or drifters get rid of it as it makes the car hard to drift, mine drifts fine at the racetrack with it still in place though

      Thank you. In the R32 its in the trunk. You just unplug the connector to the box and it's good to go. Not sure if the 300zx is the same or not.

    Hey mate,
    Awesome video so thanks for the help! I am about to start removing my hicas but the engine is in so will leave the pump in the engine bay. I want to remove the cooling lines that the pump is hooked up to so I can fit an oil cooler more easily in front of the radiator but is that cooler also to benefit the power steering pump and fluid? Does the power steering fluid need to be cooled at all? Any help or advice greatly appreciated. Cheers

    You are very lucky with removing the bushings did take me a lot more elbow grease. Get a R33 GTR pump and bracket then you can remove all of the lines. Thats what i did and works great

    Thinking about getting a 1990 r32. I heard this was a common operation. I have zero mechanic experience, so watching this video was somewhat intimidating. I watched it a second time and I understood it a lot more. I'll probably watch it a third and fourth time as well.

    Great video and perfect explanation of how it's all put together and how it works. I saw your Instagram Hicas delete photos, but since I wasn't familiar with the system, the video made everything crystal clear. 👀👍Looking at the parking brake setup, I installed Stoptech slotted rotors on my Q50S a few months ago and it's funny to me how similar the design is after all those years. I saw how big the hub of the rotor was and didn't know why until I removed the old rotor and saw the drum brake style park brake inside. Just an observation. 😉 As always, I enjoyed the video. The editing is very nice. You should be proud. 😎👍

    this video was very useful thank you! two question, cut green white striped wires for what? HICAS computer is necessary?

    • @Goodezilla
      @Goodezilla  7 років тому

      Hey, I'm glad it helped you. Yes the wire is so that the computer doesn't know the HICAS is gone and won't turn on the light on the dash or cause hard power steering. I've been told since making this that you can just unplug the connector too..but not sure, haven't tried it.

    what suspension are you using? nice video.. will be doing the hicas myself soon

    • @Goodezilla
      @Goodezilla  8 років тому

      The suspension is from the previous own in Japan. It has Kei Office adjustable shocks and an unknown brand of lowering springs. I plan to do coil overs at some point down the road. But it seems to right really well on it's current setup. It's just a bit old now.

  • @LooneyHead
    @LooneyHead 8 років тому

    hey man, nice video, removing hicas is a pain in the arse. but a couple of things, 1 why are your springs not captive? you should probably look into fixing that. and 2) careful looping those two lines on the hicas solenoid in the engine bay as one is a high pressure feed line and one is the low pressure return line.
    what i did when i removed my hicas was to remove all the lines from the pump to the rack, take the back cover off and remove all blades in the pump, then weld up the return on the reservoir.

    Hey mate, would be interesting if you could weigh all the parts you removed for the HICAS delete just for the knowledge of weight reduction.

    • @JJ_ExMachina
      @JJ_ExMachina 8 років тому

      Here is a link where common removed parts are weighted. hubpages.com/autos/R32-Skyline-Part-Weights
      I would say you save about 50lbs removing all of the unused lines and the rear steering rack (but have to add back in the weight for the new control arms). So realistically I would say you save about 40lbs.

    • @Goodezilla
      @Goodezilla  8 років тому +1

      I removed the HICAS because it was starting to act up on me. Like turning when I'm going straight and stuff. Dangerous.

    • @anthonyflood2283
      @anthonyflood2283 8 років тому

      GoodeZilla was it a noticeable movement in the rear when it was activating while driving in a straight line? I have an r33 gtr but I think the Hicas is different to the 32 gtr, they only turn the rear wheels 1 degree is that correct?

    • @Goodezilla
      @Goodezilla  8 років тому

      Anthony Flood yes it was very noticeable. I believe it's only 1 degree. But when your going over 100mph and it turns on you, it's not fun. I believe the R33 HICAS is called "Super HICAS" and has more electronic functions to it.

  • @Savage1351
    @Savage1351 8 років тому

    That is one hell of a good upgrade i've heard on gtrs for handling, was your Hicas faulty or weak? Cause when you're putting down big numbers, a loose rear end under acceleration is the last thing you want lol. As always good content, looking forward for the announcement ! =^)

    rusted Axels is a pain. soak it in penetrating spray. and use propane torch .heat expansion helps. and blunt force with hammer. makeing sure not to damage colapse threads. Allso put copper paste on it so it doesent rust and get stuck for next time. I've had this happen before aswel. 😠

    I hope you are learning from your self in these videos I think its funny how people want to show people how to do things they have never done before how much time did you waste before you decided to finally remove the KNUCKLE that the HUB is in ? Obviously next time you should Crack the lines loose first to make it easier and not damage them if you were cutting it you could have just done that in the first place but you should have 5aken the extra hour or so to remove the whole system so you could sell it all! Those have to be worth money ? @GOODEZILLA whatever the fuck that is supposed to mean
