Hey Maria, I'm from Romania and I can tell you that the corn that tastes the closest to Romanian street corn is what in the U.S. is called feed corn. In U.S. feed corn is only for animals.

We buy it from farmers, right before it's considered done and it does taste a lot like what we had in Romania.

You are doing a wonderful job on your backyard garden. You will be pleased with its growth by midsummer. A nice feature to add is a birdbath or water feature and some plants for hummingbirds. You’re on your way to your own peaceful and enchanted garden. 🌸

I love this new "series". I think even more than the ASMR videos, and that's saying a lot, because I have watched them for many years :) I lived in California for many years, and a flower that I miss is the Night Blooming Jasmine. The smell is absolutely heavenly!! It blooms in the evening, and the fragrance will fill your backyard, and if you open your windows at night, it will fill your home too! It's easy to grow. Give it a try, I think you will just love it!

Thank you for showing me how you do it! And so calmly (even though you got frustrated with the rocky ground with the pomegranate - believe me, my attempts at gardening tend to be much more like temper tantrums - you're a good example to me!!). I'm loving following along with your progress and look forward to your next update.

I think if your cucumbers get a lot of sun and a lot of water, it will be the perfect place! My cucumbers stand in a wind-proof place, get a lot of sun and I water them a lot and they love it. Each year I get cucumbers which weigh around a kilogram each. And they are very very yummy!
My experience with cucumberseedlings however is not that good, the cucumbers always turned out small with a very thick and tough skin, but I'm very curious how yours will turn out! I now always buy grafted cucumberplants and that just works amazing.
Love how you show your gardening process! I really enjoy it.

Trying things out really is the best way. What works can vary garden-to-garden and there's no beating experience and getting into a rhythm with the plants and soil. Growing from seed is so fulfilling! 💚 Iceberg roses are great - super healthy and resilient and don't need spraying as much as other varieties.

Don't give up :) seedlings take up to two weeks to germinate, that's great for 5 days! Sucks about the yard! I thought our root infested backyard was hard to plant in! At least we have "dirt" ❤️ also- I think I saw a raspberry plant? Be careful, they send out roots under ground and pop up and they can take over... It can be a pain to deal with!

  • @patcox8745

Beautiful garden. Since you have such crummy soil, and rock, you need to get some planters. Birdie’s planters are really nice and you can assemble them in many configurations. I’m in zone 10a in So CA and have 4 Birdies Beds. Your lovely little pomegranate tree might benefit from a round planter. That way you can add really good soil for it to prosper (and it won’t have to fight all those rocks while it is getting established.) Good luck!
