The dust cover and bolt retention systems are the largest hurdle to brand interchangability. All Version 2 Gearboxs are not the same. Not being designed into the build could mean more gearboxes can work.
LT is the worst in the game. The best M4s on market come from Arcturus, Krytac, and Specna Arms. Don’t bother with anyone else except maybe CYMA if it’s a high ticket gun.

I traded an sse18 and 80$ of accessories with it for a lancer tactical gen 2, still doesn’t have a bolt catch, but if needed, you can take out the spring that pulls the bolt back in place and sure it’s not as satisfying, but it’s basically a bolt catch

Get lancer tactical it’s a great brand
There pistols are ok and guns are ok for beginners
The dust cover and bolt retention systems are the largest hurdle to brand interchangability. All Version 2 Gearboxs are not the same. Not being designed into the build could mean more gearboxes can work.
LT is the worst in the game. The best M4s on market come from Arcturus, Krytac, and Specna Arms. Don’t bother with anyone else except maybe CYMA if it’s a high ticket gun.
As LT did have QC issues neither of the issues you mentioned are actually issues, the dust cover is meant to stay open and it doesn’t have a functional bolt catch. If you wanted all that plus performance for under $300 you should have bought an Arcturus or Cyma Platinum 🤷♂️
My gen 2 I have had for 2 years with no problems and no maintenance is amazing
a lot of M4 airsoft guns don't lock the bolt back and the bolt release is useless on most, so you can't list that as a problem if it's not a feature on most already
Also, for gods sakes, do not get something skeletonized if you're going to be playing outside.
My LanTac is still fine. after all the beating i gave it. Love it and still using it.
I constantly see lancer mags just completely fall apart. Very random but has happened to me twice and see it with rental guns a lot at my field.
Blud just described 95% of all airsoft guns
I owned a lancer as one of my first guns probably one of the better brands to start out with
For starters Lancer is good
90% of the airsoft guns out on the market do not have functioning bolt-locks or bolt releases. much like how every airsoft gun has a forward-assist which is purely aesthetic
my gen 2 is amazing. i slapped a flashlight and a red dot and can play indoor and outdoor perfectly fine
i got an arcturus and am loving it, great quality and shoots great
I traded an sse18 and 80$ of accessories with it for a lancer tactical gen 2, still doesn’t have a bolt catch, but if needed, you can take out the spring that pulls the bolt back in place and sure it’s not as satisfying, but it’s basically a bolt catch
Mine came with a broken spring guide, but after fixing that, now it’s great!!
Me and 7 of my friends all picked up lancer tacticals for >$200 and not a single one of them has an issue, admittedly, mine is upgraded to the point where if something breaks it's not even lancers fault anymore...
I got to say that the lancer tactical probably still has the best bang for your buck
Bruh, it’s an cheap entry model for a full metal. If you want quality go Tokyo but pay the price. Otherwise take a cheap one and do your upgrades … I have a lancer tactical. Upgrade some vital parts and already a year twice a week full day. No problem at all for mk18. Do your maintenance to.
I have the same LT. Switched it over to Polarstar f2 v2 hpa. Thing is a beast on the field!
For beginners I would recommend a Arcturus mk1 mines has been doing wonders for me , and if you have a really tight budget like by tight I mean a rifle under 110 - I would say the hk416 from umerux ,you can get it on discount around 100 if your lucky
