- I had a 2016 Nissan 370Z Nismo come in in October that was setup and tuned by another shop with some fundamental flaws in their combination. I had run this car, with their tune, on my dyno, I swapped out some key parts and retuned it and documented the gains.
Nissan 370Z Nismo 2016
BEFORE // Short ram intakes, Motordyne M370 Manifold, EPS throttle bodies, Headers, CBE, tuned on ECUTEK. 301whp/239wtq SAE.
AFTER // threw the intakes and manifold out, replaced with AdminTuning CAI and Z1 ported 370Z upper manifold, retuned on UpRev. 323whp/257wtq SAE.

Thanks man, easiest way to start tuning the QR is to swap it for a VQ instead.

I learned this the hard way. First shop I took it to was horrible! Horrible tune, it took forever, he kept sending me the Data Logs so I would forward them to Z1 making me the middleman (that’s not my job) No clue where he left my car? But it had some kind of crap all over the paint that I had to get a mobile detailer to buff out, the engine light kept coming on. Then I find out he’s more of a domestic tuner. Well if he doesn’t know imports that well, that’s some information I could have used. He was insistent that he could tune it no problem. Thankfully I found Mase Engineering after getting the car back and got an amazing tune. Now my car makes 388whp and no more check engine lights. Just sucked I had to pay for two tunes. Definitely do your homework on a performance shop; make sure they specialize in imports. Don’t do what I did.

I have a question would you recommend z1 tuning my car I love near them like an hour away. But are you way better and would the drive to Houston TX be worth the drive for it. For my 370z

I have 2016 370z nismo as well. I do have a question though…i have added the Stillen 3 inch CAI and the AAM Resonated short tail. Do you recommend to get her tuned perhaps with the Ecutek since i am not planning on getting Catback on long tube headers anytime soon. Thanks
The 16+ cars with those type of modifications do not pick up a lot from tuning. I'd suggest better exhaust (test pipes or longtube headers) before pursuing a tune.

Which Test Pipes and Headers do you recommend?
I have AAM Competition Intakes on my 2015 370z Nismo.
2015+ headers are already pretty good, Z1 headers would be my recommendation, with straight test pipes (get ones without J tubes).

@@queeze_e_3895 nah you’re straight, you almost have to submerge the filter in water for it to get hydro locked. hella G’s and Z’s run these type of long tube intakes with zero issues

Around 600whp consistently on E85.
Also my 370z its 2017 and the guys they installing the sistem said handle 700whp stock motor that is why im ask thank you
It'll take 700 but reliability starts to deteriorate long term. Many people have driven 370Zs at or around 700whp but not as long term as 600whp.

Question to anyone....... I just got my Z tuned yesterday by a guy near my area. .I didn't receive any maps (Uprev Tune) or anything. Is this normal? The car also seemed to run exactly the same after my "Tune".
sounds like he gave you a plug and play tune.. which you can order online for $100 , they do nothing.

All these cars should be geared / tuned for Torque. This is what is usable on the street. Yes high Horse Power is nice, but how often will you be at 120mph on the street?

Bruh... I got 329.8HP in my 7AT 370z and all I had was
Stock air box with K&N filters
1320 headers, Test pipes Y pipe and Tomei
None of the Z1 or Motordyne expensive stuff and the car completely stock made 289hp
Nice not bad. I actually hit 328whp in a 370Z with test pipes and muffler delete the other day, lol.
Yep people don’t need all those fancy parts to make power. I forgot to mention that I did have Mishimoto silicone intake pipes because I was told the oem restricts the air flow.

augie pina it’s good yes, but it won’t get you to “400hp” most likely 315 or so
z34_cole dude what lmao. I’ve seen that 400 hp package get 350whp with a tune. I’ve don’t think I’ve ever seen under 320. 315 is a very lowball guess that I don’t even believe is possible if done correctly.
have a quick question. with tuning are tuners able to fix issues with automatic transmissions as well? i have a g35 coupe with the 5at and when i step on it it down shifts and revs high but doesnt go anywhere. just curious if its something a tune can fix or just have to replace the trans.
We have some indirect control of the transmission - but that sounds like the clutches or valvebody on yours are failing.
Im guessing the lack of power was more from the tuner than his actuall parts

I was thinking with your intake, EPS TB's and headers he would have been closer to 335-340whp.
It would be around 335-340 on a Dynojet with STD CF, SAE reads a little lower. This car is also automatic.
Ah good point, forgot about the auto.
Z1, Tomei or PPE header would make more power on this car, the MD headers are not as peaky as the brands I mentioned.

Fucking dyno jet... I had a bad experience with a shop in Maryland( J.E. Import) using a dyno jet but Ray at formally known Pfsupercars retuned and had my rx8 running right.

Regardless of my opinions, you're winning at what it is that you do. b/c manual or auto...your tunes/cars are incredible to watch🤙

AdminTuning i got to thinking on this more today. With an errorless driver, say shifting on point, minimal recoil ect... does it just come down to gearing? If so, would changing the gearing to 3.9's, or 4.3's close that gap?
3.7 is ideal for highway racing with the 6MT.
