I remember in the 90’s when suede was common on sneakers. I miss that. I was a kid. They should do all black in suede with a white leather swoosh.
DTLR has them for $149 right now. Once I saw them in person I had to cop. I think a lot of people will regret passing on these.

These are underrated
For ppl that don’t know suede is leather that has most of the gain/structure sliced off. The hairier the suede, the worst it is but for some reason ppl like myself love it and hold it in high regard. Nubuck isn’t gna have the plastic spray on it like all the leather pairs and will have gain left in it. Nikes “leather” is gna be hairy suede with plastic sprayed all over it to resemble gain leather. Which is why the shoes are “softer”. So the nubuck is the way to go closest thing to the Georgetown
How do you think these will hold up if they are used once a week?
Not necessarily. Suede is just the underside of the leather. Lots of suedes still have the grain, it's just the other side out. Most nike shoes are going to have kind of crap suede though lol
Got my pair on Exclusive Access. Never had the original pair, I’ll take what I can get. Plus I love suede and nubuck so I’m not concerned 🙏🏼 good luck to everyone who wants a pair.
suede and nubuck are all leather but one isn't necessarily more "processed" or "engineered" more/differently than the other. Suede (the "hairy" leather) is from the underside of the hide and nubuck is from the exterior.
It’s all processed differently to get different results. Treatment for PU coating or treatment for dying a color. One gets buffed and one gets brushed. Different chemical baths etc.

I’m with you. I’m a newish sneakerhead and educated myself quickly when my friends were talking about all these different materials.
Nike uses durabuck though, which is fake. So saying anything is vegan for them is ironic. Id hardly call what they use "Leather".

To be fair, it’s not really their fault. Things are marketed incorrectly and so many reviewers often this misspeak and don’t correct themselves.

I like this suede version better. Im not a Jordan 1 guy, but i like these. Theres those who are mad that they're not like the original but i think these look better. These might be the 1st Jordan 1 i get, like i said im not a Jordan 1 fan.

Got exclusive access to these last Thursday, they aarrived yesterday. Was shocked how quickly they came so had to break em out today. Love em. I put the blue laces in and they pop!

Chris and Jody, Thank you for another great video and review. I check out all of your videos as I respect your opinion more than any other out there. I grew up in the 80s and 90s so I remember all the original releases that I wasn't able to buy as a poor kid. I appreciate a lot of the same things you talk about being a little bit of an older sneaker guy. I also really love your Since Apparel line and have bought multiple items. I am ready for something with V's and VI's. I am patiently waiting and ready to buy more. Thanks again!
Not a bad reimagined Air Jordan but i'm passing. My '17 Royals are pretty beat but they still clean up well and i just prefer regular leather / closer to OG over most of these reimagined versions. I do like the bigger swoosh , the wings logo and the toe box and i do think the end result is clean. But suede can be a bit of a headache that i tend to avoid when i can ; durability / fragility concerns , easy to get dirty , trickier to clean and as the vid mentioned can warp over time.
Not bad at all but a bit too high maintenance for me when i already have the 2017 Royals still in the rotation. And personally i like to keep it simple with AJ1s with the regular leather often used rather than patent or suede etc.
The best sneaker channel on YT... if I would've been following you guys for years, I wouldn't had missed a couple of pairs I wanted.

The reimagined are better
I noticed right away when lacing them up the laces are thicker and higher quality than the other AJ1s!
I got my EA. Should be in soon. These grew on me. Plus it’s an OG color way with the new shape. These and the Satin Breds and Xmas has come early! 😂
Looking back i got a pair of these on sale near holiday 2023 as a gift from a friend who got me into the sneaker game…….but man……Nike fumbled these hard. The concepts were endless! They couldve made a gold mine off the amount of concepts they couldve done………. They couldve made these tumbled leather nubuck patent leather a mix of each of the three or better yet a lost and found!!! Yet gave us “suede” bruh no one wants that fake fancy foofoo suede. I only got em because last time the royals came out i was 16 in high school and couldnt afford them back then. So i got these because the royals are my favorite og colorway (blue breds) and royal blue is my favorite shade of my favorite color. The reimagineds are okay id give em a 6-7 out of 10 because i was disappointed in the choice of materials. But color way timeless! Hopefully the real royals return one day or at least a high 85 cut royal releases!

Personally not a fan of an all-suede shoe, mainly due to maintenance issues. It's also why I vastly prefer the upcoming reimagined black cements over the originals.
I wouldn’t wear these unless I’m inside or just chilling if you going to the bar or getting fucked up bad idea to wear these shoes

I ended up returning my pair yesterday. I can’t justify paying $198 after taxes for something that will probably go on sale soon. I heard through the grapevine that certain outlet stores in the greater Southern California area like Camarillo have been offering them for 30% off retail price on the hash wall, but I have yet to see those deals in person.
Got mine for $135 so I felt it was justified

When I first saw these, I didn't really like them. They looked cheap from the pictures I saw, but then I saw this video when it came out and they looked much better than they did in the pictures. I still wasn't sure if I would get them but I did end up getting a pair and received them yesterday. They look really nice in hand so I'm glad I bought them.
Idk why, I own 3 pairs now and out of all of them, these are hands down the most comfortable pair on me…

I still have my 2017 pair and I agree they look great for being 6 going on 7 years old. Honestly the royal blue lace swap looks nice. I may put the blue laces in when and if i get a pair. I still think to me the 2013 shade of royal is my favorite.

Half of my sneaker collection is suede (thanks to adidas, New Balance, etc.) so these are a welcomed touch for me. The suede and nubuck materials look decent and if you properly maintenance them, they can last a long time. I’m on these when they drop!
