Certain people particularly parents said "you paid what !" And look what we have today. I remember the leather on them was similar to the Mocha Jordan ones.
$65 in 1985 is the equivalent of $170 in 2022. So people were paying around the same amount for shoes back then. The only difference to take into account is the resellers.

Hi Chris! Hi Jodi! Just gotta get this out the way but Im huge fans of yall and what yall do and Jodi's silly comedic vibe makes everything 100. Anyways I hit on the L&F 2x, one on JD EA and the other on SNKRS app, both sz 12. When i picked up my pair from my jd store, i noticed my right shoe had a wobble and remembered your pair had one too so i had to come back to this video and sure enough your right wobbled like mine. Well my snkrs pair just got delivered right now and first thing i did was to check the right shoe and sure enough that shoe wobbled and was uneven as hell. I'm not gonna be too mad since this whole drop was insane and tons of people took L's but the quality is still disappointing. Anyways just wanted to share that with yall so you know you aren't alone Chris =)
Ive taken a little break from the shoe game in the past 2-3 months, but im happy with my 14 pickups this year. Its always nice coming back to a classic nightwing video for a pair im interested in, especially that its holiday season. Keep up the reviews, im waiting for he cardinal 7s next

So which shoe was made at Left Twix and the other at Right Twix? 😂 But yeah the big issue is quality control. The brand doesn’t seem to be as stringent as it once once pulling pairs and marking them as B grades. Even at the outlets they’ll still sell them at full retail. Nike maximizing every leftover pair making crumbs into cookies.

Very true about mom and pop shops... I remember working for Kenny Corp (not mom and pop) but couldn't wait for the "EKIN" Rep to visit our shop and give us all the info on upcoming tech and shoes. I started working in shoe store in 1986 local sports shop in Santa Cruz CA and the "EKIN" Rep would come and pitch shoes it was awesome! Great job Chris with your videos and bringing back all the memories.
I got Exclusive Access & they just arrived today. I agree with Chris, the black leather on the back is too cracked. It’s already flakey & just far different than the white cracked leather.

eBay did that same thing to me 🤦🏾♂️. Claiming a shoe I was selling was “highly worn” when in reality I wore it once to sit in my 9-5 desk job. Never had an issue in my 10 years selling shoes I didn’t want anymore.
There are sellers that give pictures of the actual shoe on ebay. You should probably take more time and talk to sellers when in doubt. WearTesters still my go to 4 review.

These L&F 1s are definitely one of the sneakers i am most hyped about this year and without question have to be a candidate for sneaker of the year. Can't go wrong with a Chicago 1 imo , such an iconic colorway on an equally iconic Jordan model. Personally would have preferred closer to the 2015 Chicago 1 pair again or an 85 cut of that but i like these a lot as well. The vintage / worn look for me is becoming a bit overdone and looks like we are getting even more of that trend in 2023 ; but there are times i like it and with these L&F 1s it actually fits the concept very well. Hoping with rumored very high stock numbers and wide availability there will be a lot of retail Ws for myself and many others. As purely collector myself these are going straight to the toe , one of my favorite ever sneakers / colorways (Chicago 1s) and with already a worn / vintage look hopefully means many wear them straight away.
Yeah man, Stockx sold me the Carmine 6's with a pink tinted midsole and when I turned around and sold them back on Stockx with their tag still on them, they rejected them. When I complained to them, they banned my account. SMH.....My CC company sided with me though, so it is what it is.

As someone who worked in sports retail for 9 years, this reminds me of the pairs you’d get as refunds that you either didn’t have time to make display worthy again, or, we’re too lazy to fill out the claims forms to return to the manufacturer 😂 they were nice, but there was always something wrong with the left or right pair.

In most cases, whenever I get a pair of J’s one shoe is beautiful and the other shoe has visible defects. The messed up one is always the right shoe for me
Point to note. The OG 85 Chicago 1s were so expensive back then even during the sale @ $29.95 Gold was around $10 per gram in 1985, you could have bought just over 6 grams for the $65 retail price. Which is equivalent to more than $330 using 2022 dollars. This means the $29.99 sale price is very close to the $170 retail price today..

It’s good that you brought up some Jordan history in the beginning. I remember watching UNC college basketball with my older brother, watching a young Jordan. Following him through the draft to the Bulls. When the sneakers showed up, we were at the ready. I could go on about the AJ1 back then. I was 12 yrs old going on 13 in 1985. Nike built the brand on quality back then & those days are gone. Another thing nike ruined with their business.

That’s what I tried to tell people, the jordan 1’s were NOT that popular in the 80’s because Jordan wasn’t “JORDAN” as we know him, yet. Same with the 2’s which is why Nike hired Tinker Hatfield to hopefully bring some excitement to the shoes. I specifically remember the 3’s and 4’s being when people actually started getting hip to J’s. At the time there was LA Gear, Reebok, and British Knights were killing it (remember the Michael Jackson BK Knights? lol) so it had to take something different to get peoples attention. The 1’s eventually went on sale and was adopted by skaters and other “fringe” communities but mainstream the 1’s were not it. It took me until sometime in the 2000’s when I finally started appreciating the 1. I’m pretty stoked to try and get two pair. Need one to wear immediately and 1 on 🧊
@@BobbyHo2022 you do realize Nike didn’t sell directly to consumers back then, right? Meaning just because shops bought all that stock, doesn’t mean they were all purchased by consumers. I don’t expect anyone to understand if they weren’t around back then. Numbers don’t always tell the whole story. They sold out the first time they released the 1’s @ $65 a pop because they were released in limited numbers, but when they released the 2nd wave of 1’s, they made way too many and the shoes literally sat around unsold, and went on sale to almost nothing. Matter of fact, the “lost & found” Chicago 1’s that are getting ready to release are a nod to that. By the time they went on sale, only skaters were the only people really buying dunks and 1’s. The 1’s were overshadowed instantly by the 3’s. If the 1’s & 2’s had been a huge success , Nike would have never gotten rid of Peter Moore & hired Tinker Hatfield. Jordan himself much preferred Tinker’s designs as well.

I've had GOAT pull that bs with the 'creased toe' when unworn, and a tiny natural line. It was a double up I decided to let go of. I just said I wouldn't offer a discount because it wasn't a flaw, and the buyer accepted 🤷♂️
The pair you showed and mine are so the same. My right pair has the same defects, crooked and the white leather in the toe box is more distressed than the other. I mean like you said, the left pair is so good and the right one is so crooked.

In most cases, whenever I get a pair of J’s one shoe is beautiful and the other shoe has visible defects. The messed up one is always the right shoe for me

Gold was around $10 per gram in 1985, you could have bought just over 6 grams for the $65 retail price. Which is equivalent to more than $330 using 2022 dollars. This means the $29.99 sale price is very close to the $170 retail price today..
And that's the exact price on Goat in my size 9 it's hovering around the 330 mark

It’s good that you brought up some Jordan history in the beginning. I remember watching UNC college basketball with my older brother, watching a young Jordan. Following him through the draft to the Bulls. When the sneakers showed up, we were at the ready. I could go on about the AJ1 back then. I was 12 yrs old going on 13 in 1985. Nike built the brand on quality back then & those days are gone. Another thing nike ruined with their business.

That’s what I tried to tell people, the jordan 1’s were NOT that popular in the 80’s because Jordan wasn’t “JORDAN” as we know him, yet. Same with the 2’s which is why Nike hired Tinker Hatfield to hopefully bring some excitement to the shoes. I specifically remember the 3’s and 4’s being when people actually started getting hip to J’s. At the time there was LA Gear, Reebok, and British Knights were killing it (remember the Michael Jackson BK Knights? lol) so it had to take something different to get peoples attention. The 1’s eventually went on sale and was adopted by skaters and other “fringe” communities but mainstream the 1’s were not it. It took me until sometime in the 2000’s when I finally started appreciating the 1. I’m pretty stoked to try and get two pair. Need one to wear immediately and 1 on 🧊

@@BobbyHo2022 you do realize Nike didn’t sell directly to consumers back then, right? Meaning just because shops bought all that stock, doesn’t mean they were all purchased by consumers. I don’t expect anyone to understand if they weren’t around back then. Numbers don’t always tell the whole story.
They sold out the first time they released the 1’s @ $65 a pop because they were released in limited numbers, but when they released the 2nd wave of 1’s, they made way too many and the shoes literally sat around unsold, and went on sale to almost nothing. Matter of fact, the “lost & found” Chicago 1’s that are getting ready to release are a nod to that. By the time they went on sale, only skaters were the only people really buying dunks and 1’s. The 1’s were overshadowed instantly by the 3’s. If the 1’s & 2’s had been a huge success , Nike would have never gotten rid of Peter Moore & hired Tinker Hatfield. Jordan himself much preferred Tinker’s designs as well.

I've had GOAT pull that bs with the 'creased toe' when unworn, and a tiny natural line. It was a double up I decided to let go of. I just said I wouldn't offer a discount because it wasn't a flaw, and the buyer accepted 🤷♂️

The pair you showed and mine are so the same. My right pair has the same defects, crooked and the white leather in the toe box is more distressed than the other. I mean like you said, the left pair is so good and the right one is so crooked.

I agree that right shoe is terrible sometimes you don't notice it from a distance with imperfections but that right shoe sticks out and is extremely noticeable I'm sorry Jordan brand has to fix issues like that there is no excuse for imperfections like that Nike should be ashamed for letting things go like that
