Nick, I’m so grateful for your videos. I’ve been following you for quite a while now, and I’ve learned so many tips and tricks from watching them. Things that, otherwise you’d never know because for some reason, Mercedes don’t give any information as to what’s actually built into their cars I’m on my 3rd Mercedes and wouldn’t buy any other , ( although in my experience, Mercedes dealership service really doesn’t live up to the hype ! ). The fact that you make these videos yourself is amazing , but it’s your presentation, your style , your personality, that really keeps me coming back for more. And for that , I thank you. ( btw , glad you got your car back in tip top condition ). I think you made an excellent choice on your spec btw. I’ve got a 2019 c220d coupe premium plus ,and am wary about using the panoramic sunroof because of issues on my last car , and if I’m being totally honest , I can’t really feel the benefit of the Burmester sound system !

Well done for getting your car back . I have fitted BlackVue 970X LTE, 2 channels . But I have previous version of BlackVue which been trying to sell apart of one to keep as replacement in case my current one packs . Get notifications and videos to the app any time an event happens .

Awesome Nick! I spent £300 on a black gloss vinyl wrap for the roof and wing mirrors on my A200 and it totally changes the look. It looks much sportier now, similar to my GLC200 with the Night pack.

I got the Nextbase 322GW front & rear, got it fitted by a Nextbase engineer as it seemed quite fiddly to hide away the wires to the rear cam, they did a pretty good job. Iv been looking at the new nextbase cameras out,where you can remotely activate them and look to see what they can see as mines the same as yours it doesn’t hold the charge any more iv had it for years now.

I just bought my Mercedes 180 premier plus about 4 weeks ago and installed my next base 522 with external rear camera. Unlike you Nick. I wired it down the driver pillar then across the underside of the dash and along the underside of the tunnel. Bored a small hole into the storage compartment and fed the cable into the usb c outlet. Also ran the exterior rear camera cable along the top of the door pillars and fitted the rear camera sited straight out of the rear window. Works a treat. I also installed the speed cameras as described in your video. Could not have completed that without your advice. Thank you.
My trade in car was the A200D and I watched my Top Gear videos in that car, but my new car would not recognise them. Found out that my old car did not have Apple car play and accepted AVI and mp4 but new car because it has car play is configured to mp4 only. I just converted my AVI Top Gear videos to mp4 and they play perfectly. My set up is as follows. The compartment over the tunnel houses my next base dash cam in one usb and the speed cameras usb in the other. The Top Gear pen drive is in the usb slot under the dash. Thanks for the very informative videos.

Hi Nick! So glad you’ve got your car sorted now. I’ve got the same model, the same colour but my interior’s Sage Grey - love it! What do you think of the Sage Grey? You mentioned in your video that you plug your phone in to charge when using Apple car play - couldn’t you just use the wireless charging dock? Hope you’re enjoying the sound system - I think it’s fantastic! Thanks for the tip about disabling the pin - I won’t need to bother with that anymore!👌Have a great Christmas!

I could use wireless charging but a cable will always charge faster so happy to do it that way.

So made up for ya Nick ya got ya car back. Someone crashed into me years back i had the scirocco storm GTI. I was gutted, it was a right off but i bought it back and got it back on the road. But it took ages to get sorted. So looking forward to you doing the dash cam revue I've been meaning to get one since i bought my car about three years ago, still haven't got round to getting one. So will be interesting to see your up coming vid to see which is best and i might eventualy get one ;)

Looking forward to the dashcam video next year. I have a BlackVue camera which has front & rearward facing cameras in my 458 Italia. It also has a backup battery pack with motion sensors that allows for about 10hrs of recording while it’s parked.
I’m looking at purchasing the Merc CLE when it launches here in Australia in Q3 2024. I hope you do a comparison between aftermarket dashcams & the built in system in a Mercedes that utilises the surround cameras. From what I’ve seen on content such as yours & others is you have to manually start it every trip, which would be a pain.
Hopefully Merc has an update to allow for auto recording.
Anyhow once again have a great Xmas & glad you’ve got you Merc back in new condition👍🏻

Nice video Nick, I bought a good dash cam and with a kit I piggy backed a fuse in the passenger footwell and feed it up like you have. I looked at the Mercedes one ( I have a white 250 A class) it for me was too expensive. So I wired my own one in. It’s excellent quality. Made by Transcend.

I use a FitCamX dashcam (for my IONIQ 5) but they do custom dashcams for every vehicle that look OEM in the rear view mirror housing. Highly recommend!

Nick I got the same car as you but mines a 2 yr old exec A35. You should have got one because it’s such a blast. Engine pros outweigh the premium benefits by a mile
Hi Nick good video have a Merry Christmas. Glad the cars back and OK now. I’m using a Garmin mini DC 2. As I paid for the inbuilt one but you have to remember to turn it on every time you start the car. I put it on a shortcut but still forgot. Then I car came at me on the wrong side of the road and I had to swerve up the pavement luckily a low kerb no damage!or pedestrians as in the countryside. So I bought the Garmin. It’s so small you can hardly see it works well.

In fact way ahead of you! 👀 I already purchased the MBUX Dashcam and filmed it and published to my members section on UA-cam (so one of the first videos of 2024).
I'm glad you have the car back Nick. I have an old dash cam also and probably will be replacing it soon. But can you not plug into your boot 12v outlet? I have mine that way, and it's very neat. Only cable is visible in the boot behind the rear seats.
But I will definitely be looking out for the dash cam reviews. Have nice Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Great video. Excellent you have your car back and in top condition. It must have been heart breaking to see your new car smacked like that. I've the B180 as Mercedes Australia only imported the 1.3lt turbo for the B Class (they have stopped importing the B Class entirely now - bad decision as us oldies want a higher riding car that the A Class and don't want an SUV). I reached 4.6l/100km on a trip from Sydney to Brisbane - never thought an ICE car could get such fuel economy.

Hi, I have the in built Mercedes dash cam as it came enabled with the car. The main advantage is it’s already incorporated within the assorted sensors and video devices at the top centre of the windscreen so no wires. Both night and day time quality is good. The main downfalls are 1. There’s only a front camera, 2. You have to manually enable it each time by saying ‘Start dash cam recording’ , 3. The cost, compared to buying a premium off the shelf unit, 4. Unlike a standalone unit you cannot transfer it to another vehicle not even another Mercedes, you would have to pay again. Hope this helps.

Haven’t used the aug reality feature in my car yet, it’s one I totally forget about as with the heads up display!! Haven’t used that yet either. Interested to see whether the Mercedes Dashcam is worth it. I like my Nextbase one (622GW) but their app is awful, trying to retrieve footage via the app is a total nightmare !! I’ve had my EQA for 2 months now but really do need to sit down and play with the features! Glad to see your car is back in one piece!
I know I’ve used their app before “transferring via high speed connection” is anything but high speed!
I’ll be checking out dashcams and retrieving footage fast will be on my list of things to check!

Hi Nick really pleased you have got your Mercedes back, that was a very quick turn around from insurance to full repair.
One thing I wanted to ask is you mentioned fitting a dash cam to the front of your car, I would also like one for the rear, will you also cover this. I know you can use the Mercedes camera in the car for the front but there is not one for the rear.

That's great! Looks perfect! I have a 2024 GLE and it has the same MBUX and a mouse pad. I have the augmented reality and I got the dash cam too. You know that a couple weeks ago, Mercedes Me notified me that my car was hit while parked! So I hurried over and apparently the car in front of me must have tapped the front bumper. Mercedes Me says "Damage Detected" but I don't see a scratch thankfully. Thanks for the tip about the PIN code! I did not know that! I am woefully delinquent on reading the owner's manual. I'm going to turn that on, next time I get in the car!

Hey Nick, very sorry that you had an incident. But its all well that everything is fine at the end.
I hope you are enjoying your car, have you found out where they hid the sunglasses place which used to be near the cabin lights at the front. But I couldn’t find it in my GLA and even my friends couldn’t find it in their new class c. So if you find where is the place for shades, do let me know.

Nick, replace your rear Mercedes badge with a gloss black one. I did this on both my white cars and it makes a huge difference. I got mine for about £20 from eBay.

It might do, depends on the spec of the car. If you ask Mercedes when enquiring with them, they can check for you as it varies round the world.

Hi Nick. Just wondered how you get on with the steering wheel buttons. I only deliver these cars so don't get chance to try much out, but I do struggle with scrolling on the new set-up
Most car manufacturers are starting to bring out these touch interfaces instead of dedicated buttons. I would personally prefer buttons but it of course wouldn’t and didn’t put me off buying one 😅
It’s just something you get used to after a while 🤓 I covered a bit more about it a few months ago on my 2,000 mile review of my car.

Sadly there isn’t a way to do this in settings on the car as LED lights on most Mercedes will self level. But if you don’t think something’s right, get in touch with them and I’m sure they’ll be able to help 🙏

Hi Nick. Such an interesting video! At 10:43 you refer to the dashcam available on your Mercedes A-180 class. It is my understanding that this is an after-market feature, which was not present when I purchased the car. I am telling you this because my Mercedes C-Class 220 does not have it (it was an after-market option that I preferred to put off), but by asking the dealer where I bought it in 2022, I received a negative answer, there is no possibility to mount any Mercedes dashcam (possibly only web-cams such as Garmin, etc., which however are not viewable on the car's MBUX). Could you please give me some advice? Your reference to augmented reality increases my interest in having a dash-cam!

Hi Nick, just recently bought a Mercedes Benz CLA 220 (2022) I’ve watched so many of your videos, thanks for the helpful tips and tricks advice it’s helped me loads but one thing I can’t find is how do I adjust the headrest, it has sports seat can’t find any buttons that I can move it forward or backwards?? Very nice! Ah it’ll be like my car the headrests are fixed like a race seat for styling. Due to the curvature of the seat, just tilt it back a bit more which may help.

Glad you have your car back all fixed. On one of your earlier A class reviews I noted the problem I have with the rear camera opening and closing multiple times every time the car is started due to the camera having to go through a calibration sequence. MB say there is nothing that can be done about this but it is quite noisy and extremely irritating. Now that we are in the winter with dark nights I have discovered that the camera can’t complete the calibration in the dark so it opens and closes constantly instead of about 4 or 5 times and this has now become intolerable. I intend contacting MB about this again but I wondered if you have also noticed this and do you also find it extremely irritating.
I asked Mercedes this years ago and this is what they said.
Reversing cameras used to be just mounted on the exterior exposed to the light conditions which made it show the image instantly. Because they were on the outside they got dirty very quickly. However newer styled cameras now have a retractable housing which is good for keeping it clean but the camera when it pops out has to expose for the light (daytime / nighttime / low light etc) and it can take seconds before it actually shows you an image.
To combat this Mercedes will have the camera “pre-pop out” as you slow down so when you do select reverse, the image is shown instantly.
Mine does it too and every car I’ve reviewed does as well, I wouldn’t say I found it annoying it’s just something happens with the tech on the car. So don’t worry, it’s not a fault.
That’s odd as the old A class didn’t do it and my C class doesn’t do it and I have never noticed any issues with the camera taking time to focus. Can’t understand how you don’t find the noise irritating - maybe you have music on and don’t notice it - I don’t listen to music in the car.
Ah yeah I always have music on or a podcast so haven’t really noticed it.
Nick any idea how to show petrol prices on the satnav and turn off dynamic select appearing on the main screen
Sadly not sure I’ve seen that on the Sat Nav these days, I think it was something on cars years ago but not sure it’s offered anymore.
When you toggle dynamic select it’ll show on the screen what you’re changing it to and then go back seconds later. I believe it’ll always show on there multimedia system, not seen a way to turn it off on my car at least.

Yes it does but I prefer to charge using a cable especially as my phone has USB-C. It just charges faster. As I use my phone a lot for UA-cam etc I can get through day’s battery pretty quickly so if there’s an option for faster charging, I’ll take it! 🙃
Hi Nick… question regarding the headlights… is there a way to adjust the rake of the led dipped beams as mine seem to be pointed too low towards the ground? There isn’t a scroll wheel like found in other cars. Thanks
No sadly not, they self level automatically depending on the weight in the car. But I believe they can be adjusted by Mercedes technicians that I heard a few people mention in the comments sections on my videos 🤓

Not seen any mudguards on any car manufacturer supplied from factory that I’ve received. Sadly not ever enquired into Mercedes to see if you can get them but give them a shout and see if they can order them or something.

Hi Nick, I bought the dashcam app on my 2023 EQB, but couldn't get it working consistently. It would often not detect the new 64GB USB type C drive i bought. It worked twice in 14 days, before I finally gave up and asked for a refund. I did contact Mercedes support, but never heard anything from them. Also tried the USB in exFAT and NTFS formats, no difference. The USB works perfectly in my Mac and Windows desktop.
Have you ever heard of this issue?
It can depend on the memory stick, you MUST have good read / write speeds so it needs to be a pretty fast one.
Trust me, running my UA-cam channel and operating multiple cameras recording in 4k and 5k, memory cards are something I have to pay over the top for (it hurts with the price of some of them! Haha 😂)
Handily though you don’t one that fast for in the car, sadly Mercedes don’t provide the specs but the one I’ve tested on the Dashcam video releasing soon works absolutely fine:

Activate the alarm? The car alarm?
It automatically enables the alarm when you lock it. You’d have to turn it off “per session” if you wanted to turn it off otherwise it’s always on.
One can turn off the PIN, but if one has multiple profiles, is it a separate pin for each?
Yes, each user has their own Mercedes me account for this multimedia system so each person would log in and toggle it off

It’s because it’s a facelift model, it’s a new one with a new generation multimedia system.
