very good Caya you explained, I have started learning and have produced carbon for my own use.. I have already repaired my cracked bicycle frame, so I don't need to send it to the shop to repair the crack, the first time I use this carbon, right? my body is very itchy. but from there I started to understand that if it is ready and dry, if it is rubbed, the dust can fly and stick to our body parts..anything, thank you for the way of using this product..very good,,, ,#stay save covid is still there we are almost winning, we have not won against this covid19..#to those who died due to covid condolences to their family members# very grateful for the useful knowledge from you
Love to follow this ! First class idea with the rod to close the hole.
I love smart work arounds for problems like this ,good video ,looking forward to the next one
Absolutely love your videos and how you share your knowledge. Cant wait for the next one. 👌
One word for me ‘STUNNING’ 🤩
Very good solution, man!
Hi Martin I use a similar idea but I also use a balloon to put inside on a a piece of plastic tube this creates the pressure
Even though Carbon is a light Material...no Carbon is lighter than Carbon!
When i was younger we tuned our Bikes by drilling holes in the handlebarend or other parts to get them lighter 😉.
Looking forward to see what you build out of this frame - i've got the same one but still in original look and with all original holes 😛
Another awesome video!
I guess that is one way of doing it and seems to work. The way I would have covered the holes is to taper by sanding from the hole outward in an omnidirectional pattern to create a valley and just place the carbon cloth over the valley then sand the whole patched area flush to match the surface if the tube. It would be strong enough.
Hi Martin! Your videos kick ass... the problem is that you make it look too damn easy...haha now I´m fuck@d sanding every corner of the frame. I want to do a T-Mobile / Jan Ullrich circa 2000 inspired refinish on my old Pinarello Galileo. Remember that one? The Silver/Magenta with black unpainted carbon fork? Your help will be much appreciated...Keep up the great work. (My favorite so far is the Rapha custom)
What's the frame size for the 27.5 inch?
shouldn't you also apply a patch on the outside? A patch only on the inside still means the surface is uneven.
I fill it later on with carbon mesh.
Mr Martin the great
Maaaaaaaartin 💪🏻
what is the best carbon fiber for repairing frame ? like 3k or 6k unidirectional or ...
thanks a lot for your vidéos
Steel rod?? A carbon rod would be more appropriate, I suppose?? Rgr
Why?
Did you try a cut inner tube on a rod?
Martin! I’m currently painting my specialized enduro frame. I’m going to use matte finish clear coat. Should i still sand it in between the clear coat layers?
I see that you recommend sanding in between clear coat layers but those are mostly glossy finish Ccoat. How about matte clear coat?
Hope you answer this
Depends on the other layers under the clear coat. If there are multiple layers which build up to steps you should definitely sand between the clear coat layers to get a smooth and even finish.
What do you recommend for filling a gash like hole? Just pieces of carbon fiber or other?
Super ! So how wil you fill the small crater left? Before painting?
With carbon chips.
Resin mixed with chopped carbon fibres. Ive been making model aeroplanes in carbon fibre for many years and for many world championships. Great that you share this stuff Martin, love it!
Martin - is it possible to make a manufacturers logo (or other logos) out of carbon or something that has a carbon "look" to place on a frame? I know you do not like to apply vinyl (or other) decals to a frame and then clear coat over them. How would you make a logo that has a carbon fiber look to it?
Use the carbon fiber of the frame. Most frames I do are already made of carbon fiber.
Hi Martin, which resin ( brand ) are you using in this video?
Hi guys, any1 know if I should be sanding between clear coats when using a 2k matte lacquer on a raw carbon frame? Seems like more of a car paint thing to sand between clear coats but I really wouldn’t know. Any help greatly appreciated. 🙂
Hi, how can you fix very small scratches in either the clear coat or paint without repainting the whole frame ? DYI ofc :)
Polish it. DIY ofc 😁
Wizzard!!!!
Great idea but the bond of the patch will the very very weak. You didn’t sand the inside of the frame. Also, little trick, wet out the carbon before laying it. You will be sure you don’t have dry spots in there. Second trick, buy some proper laminating resin.... 15min epoxy is not exactly the quality bike manufacturer uses. Normally a 15min epoxy has a pit life of 7-8min so there is nearly no way all the divers in ur patch are getting saturated.... good work overall!
Hi. I have a carbon frame which has front derailleur mount removed by force (accident). This left mounting holes in the frame bigger than any rivets can handle. My plan is to close all three holes from inside with unidirectional carbon fibre (3layers) and then drill new holes. Would that work? Has anyone tried that before?
UD is not what you should use in these areas.
@@ETOE what should I use if not UD? And how many layers?
him, i will fix this frame
me, are you a viking ?
Perfekt!!!
Are you sure the patch is placed straight and dead center ? 😂😂
The world`s most asked question: Is my butt hole placed straight and dead center ? Are you sure if yours is? I`m not sure if mine is 😂
That is why I don't ride carbon...holes...everywhere...lol
i would have just covered the holes w duct tape 😁
Duck Tape? 🦆🦆🦆
ETOE - that actually exists.
www.duckbrand.com/products/duck-tape/duck-max/silver-188-in-x-45-yd
Duct tape has no German word. Gewebeband für Ab- und Zuluftleitungen
A bit of a sophisticated solution JogBird. I would have just ridden around with a hole in my frame.
@@DerFilmgucker the German word for duck tape is Panzertape. Germans like it rocksolid.
