Earlier today I overheard a friend of Travis's at the place in St Pete that we play and he explained this to a few guys: Basically, Travis saw Fed's foot cross the kitchen line when he went to swing the overhead from Travis's lob(this is a common foot fault that former tennis players do for overheads). It wasn't called by the ref, but Travis challenged it and won the challenge. But then after Fed/Matt argued it more, the "Head referee" came in and overturned the "won" challenge, so basically playing as if there was no foot fault. Maybe not normally a huge issue but the game was so close, every tiny rally detail was important so this was a big call to get right. What sucks for us watching on YT is we never once got to see a replay from the sideline to see the foot so we have no way of knowing if it was the right call or not
Even if Fed's foot started on the line, though, it looked like he *maybe* dragged it enough to reestablish outside the NVZ before hitting the overhead. Hard to say from our video quality and angles
@@DannyBPlays incorrect, two feet down outside the NVZ = you are reestablished outside and can volley. "9.D. If a player has touched the non-volley zone for any reason, that player cannot volley a return until both feet have made contact with the playing surface completely outside the nonvolley zone." Momentum matters for going in, not so much for coming out

Few notes. Pickleball commentary sucks, not just this one but all of them Karen Stakstrud stepped on line as he hit overhead, refs are dumb and blind, I mean theyre all 70. What we expect them to see shit like that? Pickleballs a req sport. Not for watching

Another great editing job. Couldn't leave in one replay?
How about some commentary at the end there? What was going on?
I explained it in my comment above
Yeah, a little too much editing.
Sure looked like Travis got hooked on the call before all of the foot fault hubbub. Either way, Fed is now and forever Karen Staksrud.
lol, but from the camera angle we're optically biased against Fed for this call.
Poor editing. Good match.
