"L'amour est bleu" (English title: "Love Is Blue") is a song whose music was composed by André Popp, and whose lyrics were written by Pierre Cour, in 1967. Bryan Blackburn later wrote English-language lyrics for it.[1] First performed in French by Greek singer Vicky Leandros (appearing as Vicky) as the Luxembourgian entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 1967, it has since been recorded by many other musicians, most notably French orchestra leader Paul Mauriat, whose familiar instrumental version (recorded in late 1967) became the only number-one hit by a French lead artist to top the Billboard Hot 100 in America.
@Hartholz 701 Blue, blue, my world is blue Blue is my world, now I'm without you Grey, grey, my life is grey Cold is my heart since you went away Red, red, my eyes are red Crying for you alone in my bed Green, green, my jealous heart I doubted you and now we're apart When we met, how the bright sun shone Then love died, now the rainbow is gone Black, black, the nights I've known Longing for you, so lost and alone Gone, gone, the love we knew Blue is my world, now I'm without you Red, red, my eyes are red Crying for you alone in my bed Green, green, my jealous heart I doubted you and now we're apart When we met, how the bright sun shone Then love died, now the rainbow is gone Black, black, the nights I've known Longing for you, so lost and alone Blue, blue, my world is blue Blue is my world, now I'm without you Grey, grey, my life is grey Cold is my heart since you went away Blue, blue, my world is blue Blue is my world, now I'm without you Blue is my world, now I'm without you

Was in my teens when Love is blue went No 1 in the US... In heavy competition with the Beatles and Pink Floyd this song found a place in my heart - and, yes, love WAS blue! Proof for this was Jeff Beck, though he had some struggle with the original version...
As a huge fan of both Eurovision and rock music generally, I find it great that he has done this cover version. A beautiful song, both as the original from Eurovision 1972 - and in this cover version
@@officialronaldmoger Yep, of course you are right - 1967 :) All of us ESC-fans probably know that. I just mixed up with the other year V. Leandros took part
It was Vicky Leandros, who performed the original version of the song "L´Amour Est Bleu". It was her performance in Vienna for the "Grand Prix Eurovision De La Chanson", 1967. It reached #4 (The winner was Sandie Shaw with "Puppet On The String"). "L´Amour Est Bleu", written by André Popp / Pierre Cour / engl.: Charles Blackburn. The song was released by Philips (+Polydor) in several languages, there were two english versions: "Love Is Blue" and "Colours Of Love". The instrumental version by Paul Mauriat went to #1 in the USA, Jeff Becks version only reached #30 in the UK. The flipside of Jeff Becks 45, "I´ve Been Drinking", with the vocal performance of Rod Stewart, is more releated to his album release "Truth". Play "I Ain´t Superstitious" from that album and you´ll get a real impression of Jeff Beck´ s guitar performance. Very cool.
Creo que esa época junto con los, 0s 80 y 90s fueron lo mejor de lo mejor. Lástima que no nací en esa época pero tengo el privilegio de sentirla a través de videos
And now for something completely different. This is actually a cover of a cover as the Paul Mauriat US hit version, number one in 1966, was not the original but was used as the template for Jeff Beck. I am no fan of easy listening but I always enjoyed this one.
I am a Jeff Beck fan and had never heard this until today. Mickie Most production, but NOT on Epic like The Jeff Beck Group LP's but CBS. I wonder if that's Nicky Hopkins on harpsichord?
RIP Jeff Beck. Always loved this tune.
He could make a guitar talk..Britains finest ..rip
Almost haunting now to hear this, and I love it. RIP Jeff Beck
RIP Jeff. You live in our hearts. I was 11 years old inx1968.
We're not "supposed" to like this, but I love it!
My favorite instrumental and lyrics of all time.
My Father, Bryan Blackburn wrote the lyrics~

I remember it playing while I was painting in my room. Not what I expected from the almighty Jeff.

RIP, a fave of all time!
well I like this, it makes me smile and that is all that matters

Beautiful MUSIC!!!
The legendary Clem Cattini on drums here
Fantastique!
Beautiful
It is a poem converted to a song. I write poems but can not compose, started Overseas in Marine Corps during downtime in between deployments.
良くも悪くもこの「恋はみずいろ」がJeff Beck最大のヒットである。もっとも本人はその過去を消し去りたいのだろうが・・・・
その後に「Love is green」ってのを出してるけど・・・
This version is very cool! This will go well back to back with Paul Mauriat's version!
Masterpiece of a version !
Check this version out too. ua-cam.com/video/dx8VHTrwgDs/v-deo.html
They are both very beautiful in different ways. I do like the little bit of lyrics we get in this one.
I love. Wonderful!!
nice to listen brings memories back
Uff.
I had never heard this...very strange....what a varied career he had.

Can't say I ever heard it that means I don't miss it.
I bought this one when it first came out, and the Paul Mauriat version as well (showing my age).

Heard my dad playing a Jeff Beck CD, didn't really care for it until this kicked in. Holy hell.
2020 Vote BLUE no matter who.
How's this for a protest sign? "The Scream" by Edvard Munch with caption "FOUR MORE YEARS?"
No way, LOSER!! TRUMPLANDSLIDE 😂🤣😅👍👍👍👍
I heard a classical baroque cover of this on an android game. Had no idea this was actual pop song from the 60s...
45RPMbyMikeEvans: thanks for posting. Cheers!🥨
'B' side, I've Been Drinking, was sung by a young unknown Rod Stewart
Holy Cow that's bad! (Jeff Beck HATED this record and was literally FORCED to record it by Mickey Most.)
Cool
R.I.P.
Nice version.

No kidding! Jeff Beck doing Paul Mauriat! Hahaha... I'm going to treat this as a novelty :D
👍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🇧🇩
Wow! How do you follow a version like this?
RIP
Good sung version of this tune I had heard only in Paul Mauriat's version.
Is it the same Jeff I used to know from the 60s?
She never came no matter how I waited.

Did it mean the color or the mood.
it sounds pretty much like he's dubbing onto Mauriat's backing track...hilarious
+good gawd y'all I think they can get in trouble for doing that it may be a rerecord with Nicky Hopkins on harpsichord
+Jose Belindo the drummer is hitting behind the beat like with a wet dishrag
+Jose Belindo DIFFERANT ARRANGEMENT DIFFERANT ORCHESTRA
+Jose Belindo it's more soulfull played that way
they do that on James Bond records like Where Has Everybody Gone by the Pretenders
Jeff should have made it an instrumental
Stop saying that some version is better than original. You don' t win something. All versions are excellents but original is better than all
I always give myself a prize when I win on the internet... which is always because I'm the judge :)
