I owned the DVD of this series and I remember on the menu screen that loaded up there was the question 'Do you want to watch Bangkok Chickboys?' When you selected 'No' it selected 'Yes' anyway and then loaded up the real menu screen., LOL!
The guy with no vocal chords (peter baynham) is one of the people behind Borat, he was Chris Morris' (Peter Baxendale Thomas) sidekick when he was on Radio 1 and he is onw of the writers of Alan Partridge. Such a funny guy!
The episode was filmed round the time mad cow disease was in the news and concern about what the cows were eating which led to the disease. Hence the farmer insults from Alan.
I love Michael's thick Geordie accent and Alan not understanding most of what he says, the guy that plays Michael in real life speaks really posh and proper which makes it all the funnier
Its so brilliant how consistant you are and actually watch seasons wether they get a ton of views or not based on pure enjoyment i feel like when a new episode reaction pops up were like a big family watching it together. Glad you exist mate this reaction channel will never be beat and if u decide to take a break we will understand
This just takes me back to high school, with me and my friends quoting Alan quotes... “Smell my cheese...” everytime someone had a cheese bloody sandwich...
Love these AP reactions. You're in for a real treat with Alan, after this the character just goes from strength to strength, even the fairly recent audiobooks intertwine with this era of Partridge.
The guy at the bar with Simon Pegg is Peter Baynham - he's written loads for Alan Partridge. As well as shit loads of others he's also written for Borat and Bruno.
Great to see one of my favourite actors, Simon Pegg in the bar scene before making it in Hollywood. Norfolk is full of farmers. Lynne worships Alan. He is oblivious.
I think the comments about farmers refer to the UK outbreak of what the papers called "mad cow disease" in the 90s and he took it further to include scare mongering about genetically engineered farm animals. He was talking to farmers because Norfolk is a rural region and he is on a local radio station so has a local audience.
I think around this episode you start to understand the whole Alan Partridge personality and why he's funny. Simon Pegg, Steve Coogan and Chris Morris helped shape and influence the British comedy scene we see today. To see all 3 in 1 episode is cool. :) Hope Josh, Tay and all of you had a great Christmas.
I agree you can really start to get a good feel for him. That was cool to see them =] Thank you so much hope you had a great Christmas as well and have a great New Year!
As someone who has done a bit of work/appeared on local media in Norfolk, can confirm you get people like Alan who put their foot in it (unintentionally or otherwise) and the callers aren't that far off what I've heard on Canary Call. Also this is my fave episode of the show, so funny.
@@AfterWorkReactions The farmer's rep is played by Chris Morris who created The Day Today and Brass Eye (more recently made the film Four Lions). I love those shows but I will warn you the material there is a bit darker.
First The Inbetweeners and now Alan Partridge?! You rock. I hope you try Coogan in The Parole Officer or even The Trip series. - Cheers to you for the new year.
AP presents a show on local radio which is broadcast to an area which is mostly rural. Therefore, rural issues such as farming should be covered, which is why the farmer is interviewed by him. AP's hostility to farmers isn't explained & I don't recall it being mentioned at any other time than in this ep.
To give some context to this episode, it was made at a time when Mad Cow Disease and the deadly human version (vCJD) was big news in the U.K. The whole country was paranoid (rightly so) about this disease and Farming methods in general.
Missed dialogue between AP and Peter Baxendale-Thomas: “How many cows have you got” “I dunno I’ve got a hundred cows” “I’ve got a hundred and four friends”
I was going to suggest Alan partridge ! Always funny, one of my favourites 😀👍the guy in the baseball cap at the bar is Simon pegg from Shaun of the dead 😊
Bit of context -- what you asked about the beef with the farmers -- the county he is in is farming heavy, very sort of feudal in spirit. Farmers are cut from a different cloth from someone like Alan, who's very flashy and bourgeois. Otherwise he doesn't have a beef with farmers, he's just doubling down on his passing insults to save face.
Dude try watching the trip. It's Steve coogan(Alan partridge) and Rob Brydon (host of would I lie to you) I'd say it's like a buddy roadtrip except they just bicker over voice acting.
My mum was a teacher and one of the first headmasters she worked with didn't turn up to work one day because a cow fell onto his car on his way to work
I'm pretty sure this was around the time a lot of cattle in the UK started getting mad cow disease (which is like the cow form of MS, it degenerates the nervous system) caused by the cows being fed raw beef. Humans eating infected meat could contract the human variant, lots of people around the time stopped eating British beef. Which explains Alan's first "infected spine in a bap" comment.
Norfolk is big farming territory. In the countryside areas, everyone in Norfolk is a farmer or knows a farmer so it wasn't clever of Alan to annoy to broadcast a bad joke about farmers. Great episode of one the 1990s funniest sitcoms
When people see you react to clips of funny shows without seeing all of the show, we see you miss loads of the jokes and real funny parts that we told you were real funny but you only get to understand bits of it, just see how better it is when you get to know the people better, and with Alan he,s got loads of in jokes you only see when you understand the characters better, anyway keep up the good work and you,ll have the best sense of humour that side of the pond,
Sophie has just been in a few brief scenes, yet she has some of the most genuine comedic reactions I have ever seen. They are just so realisticly appropriate xD God, I wanna hang out with these hotel staff. They handle that prick Partridge perfectly!!
@@bradders9743 it's a Testament to the writers as well. So many shows would just have people react shocked, disgusted or irritated to what Alan is saying. But Sophie is laughing at him. "You aren't a man, are you?" "No." Super dry ^^
Wow i haven't been here for a few days and I have this and 2 Karl pilkingtons and another of this and peep show. I'm up at 4.38am and have lots to watch... Thank you Josh
Lynn doesn't have a crush on Alan. She's just a loyal, middle aged, career P.A.. It's a job she wants to keep. She might feel just a teeny bit protective of him, because she's a carer (had to look after her aging mother and put her own private life on hold to do so), but she doesn't fancy him.
Uk comedy better than USA? Also the farmer thing is because that part of England is mostly agricultural loads of farms and poor transport links, you only go there if you are going there, there’s no through routes, so no passing trade or visitors as it’s the end of the road literally, it’s the eastern part that looks like a bum
I owned the DVD of this series and I remember on the menu screen that loaded up there was the question 'Do you want to watch Bangkok Chickboys?' When you selected 'No' it selected 'Yes' anyway and then loaded up the real menu screen., LOL!

Yeah I still have the dvd and watch it often, of course I want to see Bangkok chickboys! Who doesn’t?
Ive had theses shorts since 1982 :)
I live in swaffham Norfolk . This is an actual documentary not a fictional comedy .

Alan's exercise song lyrics are from the Blue Mink song Melting Pot. 1970, I think. It's actually an uplifting, uniting song.
“Dr No, Dr No vocal cords”
You've got to do 'The Colour of Alan' . . . all I'll say about it is "Lyyyynnnnnnn, I've pierced my foot on a spiiiiike'
I will check that out thank you for the recommendation!
Oh jeez yes! My favourite favourite ep
It will be today’s ep on Patreon...

Yes. 4 is incredible as well. The zombie fancy dress, then at the end, the traffic cones and 'cone-tract' comeback to Dave Clifton.

We used to order a round of lady boys in when it was someones birthday after this came out. Classic drink combo. Costs a fortune though 😂
I love that an American also loves Alan..
You’re sense of humour is on point, are you sure you ain’t British?
This ep is the only time that AP's love of ladyboys is mentioned.
LOL thanks bud!
In KMKY he found himself attracted to his guest, until he found out she was trans....
Alan seems to have repressed sexual hang ups, all round...
This episode opens with Alan insulting farmers before the opening credits. Unfortunately that seems to have been cut on the one you watched.
You need to watch & react to a episode of 'Knowing Me Knowing You' Alan Partridge meets cockney gangster. It's on UA-cam.
I'll check it out thanks bud.

Because he was. 😂

The chocolate mouse scene was the only outake of the whole series . When the Geordie fella starts laughing.
