Mother and daughter relationships in lesbian classics is a thesis I would definitely read, whilst it also being too triggering for my life 😅
there's a reason it's such a constant theme sadly,, but yeah very interesting topic to delve into
I realised a while ago that the copy of The Well of Loneliness that I have on my shelf is actually a first edition, that I picked up from a second hand bookstore for a ridiculously cheap price.
omg that's so sick!! from 1928 or when it was republished?
@@readingaster From 1928, original publisher, complete with dust-jacket 🙂
@@circleofleaves_zigzag thats so sick i thought it was banned quite soon after
@@readingaster Yep, it was banned in the same year. The ban was lifted in 1959, a good decade and a half after RH died, so they didn't get to see it resurface.

Yes!! We do not talk about “The Color Purple” enough, truly one of the best, thank you 💜
I am getting ready to make my queer summer reading list and I just remembered I saved this video last year after it was recommended to me but I didn't have time to watch it. One of my goals this year is to read more classics and I'm always looking for queer stuff so this is perfect. I've added everything to my list except for one because I just read it two years ago.
I really need to get onto jeanette winterson and virginia woolf... this is my sign
yesss especially jeanette, i just bought another random book of hers to gobble up like a thirsty dog because she is INSANE
@@readingaster in this house we love insane books written by unhinged women
@@alexandraramz literally i cant get enough of them
The immediate urge to create a Storygraph challenge after watching this video 👀

I want a lesbian yearning classic that I can devour and love please 😭
