    The answer is “me.” It’s replacing my Index for full face tracking. Pancake lenses aren’t that important to me.

      The ONLY THING stopping me from maybe buying this is the fresnel lenses and perhaps 90 hz but I want full facial tracking super bad. I am literally going to dig up my old htc vive because its been so long since ive used it I want to see how "bad" fresnel lenses are with godrays and such before I commit to this. Currently this headset will be my cheapest option for full face tracking.

    It's Q4 of 2024, this headset definitely NEEDS a version with current micro OLED displays with pancake lenses as nothing else comes close, as the Bigscreen Beyond (costing about the same price you're asking) has proven with its best in class image quality. The current VIVE Focus Vision display spec you list sounds like 2016 display tech, so not worth the extra cost above Meta Quest 3, regardless of extra features, for PC gamers! If you want a place in the market, go for top end (OLED & pancake) & we will happily pay more than the price you're currently asking!
    Please also add an option to pay extra for VR gloves that support precise finger tracking (not just imprecise visual) with 8 button emulation by touching finger tips to thumbs & some forcefeedback ideally rather than clunky game controllers that put PC users off VR. I, along with those willing to spend enough to get a top of the range PC to make use of this headset properly, would be willing to pay a lot more for these features; true top of the range for consumer setup, rather than just a more expensive alternative to the Meta Quest 3!

      Exactly they aren’t bringing anything new to the table and in fact they are bringing old tech and charging $1000 for it. It’s like they are trying to appeal to both the mixed reality crowd and the pcvr crowd but aren’t the best in both.

    Honestly, I'm starting to become interested in it, mainly for the fact that it's practically a Quest Pro competitor with a replacable battery in-headstrap and a full display connection mode (rather than the compression needed for Quest). The fresnel lenses are definitely an interesting choice, but I think the eye tracking and optional facial tracker will be a nice alternative to current options for that front. I am starting to see the Quest Pro sold at 900USD new though, so I'm not sure anymore...

      @@SquishySideUp The fresnel lenses are definitely the downside here. In my opinion the experience of using a pancake lensed headset beats out any display port benefits.

    I would buy this, before I bought an Apple Vision Pro headset. I got to see what the reviewers say about it. I already ❤️ the new features it offers over the Quest 3. Being able to support display port, being able to add additional storage space via Micro SD card, and Being able to replace the battery in the headset if it should ever fail is awesome! I wonder how good the pass-through cameras will look on this HMD..?

    • @dannygaron
      @dannygaron 3 місяці тому

      Huh??? U need to pay extra for display port stuff...and why???? It's a display port... should be on there by default. So this tells me the display port add on adds tons of compression, etc ... And a storage card?? Haha...slow as hell.... And why does it need a battery when running off a display port? And why not pancake lens? And why an extra add on for face tracking? Man this thing sounds very complex compared to a Quest 3 or Pro.

    • @WOojerVest3andQuest3onMe
      @WOojerVest3andQuest3onMe 3 місяці тому

      @dannygaron I have a Quest 3 and Quest Pro. I wouldn’t mind having one of these as well. But, I agree, I wish they would have used the same lenses if not better lenses. Note: My Quest 3 is 512GB version, and it is already full it would be nice to have the option to add a Micro SD card for more storage space. You mentioned it slow as hell, but you can simply move the game to the SSD from the SD card it is still a nice feature no matter how you look at it. But, Me Personally, I am not buying one. Due to already buying the Pimax Crystal Light headset with Light House Face Plate. I am happy with it as my Main PCVR headset. So, there is no need for this one. But, this is a cool option for people who refuse to support Facebook or Meta. 😉👌

    I don't think this headset was a disappointment. In order to be disappointed I would have had to have expectations that weren't met, and to be honest they delivered EXACTLY what I expected - an over-priced under powered headset with a few nice features but fraught with fatal flaws and stupid design decisions. They seriously can't compete with anybody. Meta and Sony blow them away on price, and Pimax blows them away on clarity, and at a better price. HTC should just hang it up and make toasters or something.

    Ya, I'm a little disappointed that this doesn't have pancake lens and micro-oled screens. If Vive can utilize adaptive contrast like we now have with our Q3 with v69 it may look ok, esp. with the ~15% higher res screens. I do really like the Display Port feature though. I may preorder one to try out (Vive has a pretty good 14 day return window) and see how it compares to my Q3 using Link with flight sims like msfs2020. Thanks for your vid and cheers.

      @@FilledWithChi11 The point of the Vive vision is to have both wireless and Display port wich no headset do at that price. In the Vive vision the eye tracking works with pc, unlike the psvr2. It have built in audio and much better resolution. We have to wait real tests with the actual devise before judging. If it can fovereat rendering with most games, than it is a very interresting devise.

  • @ReallyVirtual

    I have it right now. I've been using the Focus 3 for around 3 years, so buying the Vision was a no-brainer. Why did I choose it? 1) It can do lag free and reliable high res (4k) PCVR over Wireless 6E. 2) It can do real wired PCVR. In this mode, the GPU isn't stressed as much as it is not converting the display to a video stream. This means I can max out details on games. In addition, this mode keeps the headset powered - so you can play for longer than 2 hours which is handy for flight sims and racing sims. 3) Auto IPD adjustment - having experienced it, I think every headset should have it. 4) Eye tracking and foveated rendering for greater performance (really handy for flight sims) 4) Comfortable. I have been in VR since 2016 with the original Vive Pre. I have tried many headsets and the Focus 3 is by far the most comfortable. - Other bonus features are the superb colour passthrough which surprised me as I wasn't expecting to like that feature. The other bonus is that parts from my old Focus 3 are compatible - such as the batteries and facemask. The final surprise is that the built in software is from HTC's consumer range - including VivePort. I was expecting it to use the enterprise version that the Focus 3 has. I don't know why HTC switched to a consumer version of the built in software, but I'm glad they did as it is much better.
    It has LCD panels, but they are very vibrant panels. I can remember being worried about this when I went to the Focus 3 from a Vive Pro. The Pro has OLED, I was expecting a big downgrade for the price of a wireless headset. What I found in extensive back to back tests, is that the colour saturation and brightness is as good, if not better than the OLED panel. The only downside is that night scenes - like in Skyrim - lacked the same level of blackness. But, that was during back to back testing. When using it for a while, it is something your eyes tune out.
    The fresnel lenses are controversial. Whilst pancake are the way to go, I couldn't find a pancake system with anywhere near the same display resolution and FoV in the same price range. That said, I don't think they are at that bad. I have never played a game and thought 'darn those fresnels' - it just works. At the end of the day most systems are a price vs features compromise. I think the Focus Vision gets this right.
    The Focus 3 and the Focus 3 Vision do seem to get a lot of flak, 99% of which is from people that have never owned one or tried one :p
