    Look into an embossing gun. I have one with 2 settings and the 1st doesn’t produce a fan effect but gets plenty warm. I use it to level all my items that sink. Also, try using a stick (chopstick or my preference craft/popsicle stick) to help guid the liquid wax. Hold the stick perpendicular to the mold touching the lip of your pouring pot. The liquid will pour down the stick to where you want it, instead of splashing or splattering. I do that with my FO to avoid drips as well. Hope any of that helped! I really enjoy this mold and for a first go they turned out great - my tests always end up looking like a science experiment gone wrong.

    • @waynegross2113
      @waynegross2113 3 роки тому

      @@berniehyland9103 I really truly believe it would not affect your hot throw at all! I've been making candles for 8 years and luxury candles for a year. Now if you were using coconut wax, palm wax or similar you would, they require a 200 degree pour. But soy products, even if you have a paraffin blend of soy, they can be poured very low. Some people pour as it gets hazy from being cool. They swear by it. I'm not an expert, but feel confident in this answer! Sorry I missed your question, I was in hospital for a week. Not covid-19 related! Hope that clears up your question!

    Hi Karen I love your videos warts and all. I’ve just completed a course in candle making and soy wax needs to be heated to 85c then fragrance added first as some fragrance oils discolours the wax then the colour. It has then to sit and cool til it gets to approx 57.2c before pouring. It’s not a matter of heating ur moulds it’s the wax temperature at time of pour. Also wax is measured in weight not volume along with the fragrance when candle making and wax melts etc. Hope this is of some help.

    I'm 2 years late, but watching this in 2023 and my thought is possibly a heat lamp - like restaurants have to keep food hot after it's finished cooking and it's waiting to be given to the customer? Might be able to set up a heat lamp station to set your melted wax in while it's waiting to be used.

    That was quite entertaining LOL I always love your videos and your stories.
    Most prof candlemakers use metal jugs (like small milk jugs); it is easy to keep those at the desired temperature in a water bath (au bain Marie) - also the wax won't set up as easily as in a plastic jug.
    IMHO candle colourants work better than mica; the fluid ones are super easy to work with.
    Wax behaves a bit like MP soap; once a film has formed on the surface, the next layer won't attach very well.
    Keep up the good work and have a wonderful day!

    They are very nice. I know it took me a couple tries to get them right and since they were going to be for wholesale, they had to be perfect! I call mine tye- dye colors. I also found out they needed to be warmer and more fluid. Of course a little bit of blending occurred on the edges of each color, but it added to the affect. They come out beautifully, all and all don't you think. Over time it gets easier and not so many bloopers 😉😁

    Karen, I love you because you show us the flaws of soap making and wax melt/candle making. Your one of the few who do! Most edit their videos to the 10th degree and you learn nothing! Everytime I watch one of your videos or my friend Holly make a product, I know I'm seeing the real deal. When I first started watching soaping videos years ago, I thought everyone was so tidy!!! Poppy cock! I made soap and it looked like WW2 blew up in my soap room! Now over the years I've found little tricks, but I'm still messy at times. That will never change. But Holly explained how most soapers do a ton of editing, lol!
    I wish we could edit away dishes! That would be a gift. At the end of the day someone has to clean up. They just don't show it and edit out the tiny spills and such!
    Thank you for always being honest with us Karen! I appreciate it, and I know others do too!

    Very interesting ❤ The mica in wax melts is very pretty Is there any way to keep the mica from settling on the bottom of the warmer?

    • @EdensSecret1
      @EdensSecret1  3 роки тому

      I think a warmer tray would work well AND if the wax had been hotter would also have worked

    I'm not sure a heat gun exists that doesn't blow hot air. Here's an idea. Do you know those large, flat, rectangular electric griddles that people put on counters and use to make pancakes and such? Use one of those on low heat and place your molds on top that way the bottom stays heated. Then, to do 6 colors, do 1 or 2 at a time, pour those in the heated molds and make 2 more colors and repeat until 6 are done. Or do all 6 and just reheat the ones that cool off too much.

    I can’t get Ecosoya Q210 (Ecosoya CB135) in Australia anymore
    You should use a batter dispenser, I do n it’s much easier then using a jug to pout the Melts and candles.
    Try a small bag of Ecosoya Q210 aka Ecosoya CB135 Soy Wax + 1tbsp Beeswax per 250g Soy Wax n see if you notice a difference
    I was wondering can you make Soy Wax Melts with a Scented Jelly Wax center ?
    Glade have made them and I was wondering would you be keen at giving it a go?

    • @EdensSecret1
      @EdensSecret1  3 роки тому

      I used to do the CB135 plus beeswax when I first started trying wax melts & candles 10 years ago, that's how I did it. I think gel in wax would be a good idea for you, not sure how the gel performs in a burner though, does it work?

    Hi Karen, have you ever gone over the max % of fragrance your wax will hold and was it okay? My new wax has an 8% max fragrance hold, but I'd rather use your 10% trick to figure amounts rather than use my calculator. Any advice? Thanks!

    • @7slaper
      @7slaper 3 роки тому

      The advice from the supplier is there for a reason, so I would stick to the 8%. The calculation is not that difficult;
      😄 for example, 500 grs of wax: 500:100*8= 40 grams of fragrance.
