    I would add loops, hooks on side so can set up tarps for rain or snow, also change the color to green, brown, good job

    That's a well thought out set up buddy ...... never enough room for everything.

    You have inspired me to build a similar one! But I will make a single space container so that I can sleep inside it rather than using a tent. Thanks for the upload

    Very cool idea. I would have made all the doors on the passenger side so when you have to pull over on the side of the road, and have to open a door up you are not on the traffic side, but the curb side so you do not have to worry about a car coming out of nowhere and hitting you. Peace, Reese

    Just an idea add a solar panel roof and a sun shower or some sort of water up high you could use for a shower like system for hygiene... I could go on if we are talking in wished and dreams for the perfect bug out trailer but I understand that finances play a major roll and is exactly why I haven’t started mine yet but I love the design concept here man great job man

    I like it. Good job. I am working on one but smaller.
    One of the first things I did was mount solar panels on top, put in 3 battery's with charge controller and inverter. Having power is nice.

      That would be sweet, it sounds like a fun build.

      +knifegunguy I have the solar part done and twice this mouth I have lost power. Both times I just went out and plugged in. I had lights, a small fan, even got my internet working (phone line) just had to power the modem.
      Best of luck to you and yours, stay safe, stay ready.

    Nice trailer...would it have been possible to make some of the compartments like large drawers...so you can extend them fully?...for example the large compartment accessed from the rear on runners to pull out....you could have your kitchen permanently sited and just pull out with a couple of legs to support? and ready to go?

    I think you did a great job. How about extra gas tank rack.

    Hows the ground clearance on that trailer?
    make mounts on outside that don't have doors for counters. Might want to put tie down points on roof for an awning.
    Maybe 12 volt solar for led lights. sorry for ramblings ! I'm in the middle of building one my self. Using patriot trailer as a model. Their a Australian company that makes some really nice stuff !

    Voice of concern. The box, on the tongue, might contact the back of the car when making tight turns. Still, a great job.

    Looking at the background of the mountains/hills, where is this at? From what I see, I think it is like St. George. I am in Cedar City

    Why is this any better than a prefabricated enclosed trailer with the gear in rubbermaid containers? It actually seems like a prefabricated enclosed trailer would be better as you'd have functional open space when it's empty.

    • @knifegunguy
      @knifegunguy  9 років тому +1

      I didn't say it was any better. With that said my build was like 1/3 the price.

    Is it just me or should those doors open on the passenger side in case you need to access gear on the side of the road? Also that tent box looks way too close to the hitch for maneuvering around off road. Maybe a longer hitch like the Aussie trailers have? I do like that you've got lots of different areas for storage...

  • @roydenham7531

    Great trailer but maybe the doors could be on the other side ie away from traffic if stopped roadside

    How much money did you save by building this, versus buying a new or used quality enclosed (water tight) aluminum trailer of the same length? Was economy your goal?

    roll out awnings on at least one side of the box, to sit under when it rains

    how do you lock those ext. doors Im just seeing a sliding bolt like on a fence ? Looks good nice and neat !

    • @knifegunguy
      @knifegunguy  9 років тому

      Those slide locks have a hole in them for a lock to pass through. Thanks for watching.

    • @jucor
      @jucor 8 років тому

      +knifegunguy I think you should have another system of closing doors with a screwdriver can remove the right side of the lock and open the doors, these locks are fine for fences but for a box in an emergency situation ..... I do not see very reliable, thanks for the video is very cool

    That "Box" you put on the Tongue is in The Wrong Place....man, it cut your Turning Radius Down so much. You will urn into this very easily.
