  • These pretzels were the bomb! So soft and chewy but they have a nice textured outside from that boil step. I would recommend this to anyone who can eat gluten. Please make!
    Enjoy:)
    Dough:
    1.5 cups water
    1 packet yeast
    1 tbsp sugar
    1 tsp salt
    2 tbsp melted but cooled butter
    4 cups flour
    salt for sprinkling
    Boiling Step:
    10 cups water
    2/3 cup baking soda
    Cinnamon Sugar Mix
    1 cup melted butter
    .75 cup white sugar
    .25 cup brown sugar
    2.5 tsp cinnamon

    You did a great job. I’ve been making alot of pretzels lately using basically the same recipe. I’ve never used lye either so I’m not even really sure what the taste difference is but these pretzels are AMAZING. We have been using them as burger buns!

    • @gavinpiesik

    Stupid question on the cinnamon sugar - do you dip in the butter and roll in the dry ingredients after baking? Assuming you skip the salt part, just the egg wash for the baking. Thanks!

    • @gavinpiesik
      @gavinpiesik  7 місяців тому +1

      You could brush with butter or dip lightly then sprinkle or dip in the cinnamon sugar!

    NOTE TO SELF: DO NOT USE PAPER, IT WILL STICK TO THE BOTTOM OF THE PRETZELS!!!

  • @chuckasarus
    @chuckasarus 7 місяців тому

    How do you keep the pretzel from sticking to the parchment paper? Mine stuck

    • @gavinpiesik
      @gavinpiesik  7 місяців тому

      I didn’t do anything! But… you could wipe a stick of butter across the parchment or put a drop of oil down and wipe it in

    How long do you kneed the dough or when can you tell if you've done it enough?
    Also, does a stand mixer with a dough hook do that job for you?
    Big thanks to anyone that can answer these questions:)

    • @gavinpiesik
      @gavinpiesik  Місяць тому +1

      Knead it until the dough is firm and springs back when you poke it with a finger. Yes the dough hook will work
