Before I saw this I would always had said I would only use shiny moulds, now I can totally see the appeal of a matte one. The side by side comparison is great! Weirdly enough, I did a sculpt with polymer clay and made a mould earlier this year and I loved the cast, but then I forgot it until now.
It’s definitely something to think of in the future Suzzie 😀😀 I was the same as you until now 😂😂 Go find your mould and have fun 😀❤️👍 Oh and cream eggs are in stock so I will message soon 😀❤️👍
The matte mold for the dragon is fantastic, you can see all the details. The purple is beautiful as it's my favorite color 💜. Thanks for sharing Wendy.
These are all so Beautiful and turned out so Great. The colors worked well with the matte and the shine, and then the tinsel just set them both off so well. And yes you have to be careful when cutting off the over spill on your projects. Unfortunately my husband has gotten cut a few times and we have exec-to knife .
Beautiful as usual. I agree, I prefer the matte. When I trim my over pour I use a cuticle trimmer and in the hard to reach places I use a sharp blade like you do.
Thank you for that 😀😀 we all use what works for us 😀😀 Maybe I should do a basics video and show lots of options to do things 🤔🤔🤔 Ohh that’s an idea 😀 Thanks 😀❤️

Wow wow and more wow. Wendy that was a happy dance moment. Prefer is 100% Matt It really does show the detailing. It's not a clear boundary mind you. Some creations do need to have that glow. But this it's better this way. Yep I love dragons, always have. As for the little guy he is rather cute. I don't usually go Ali-express or Wish as blimey the wait is a killer. So if I can get it from the UK then I do. Another great video thanks for my dragon fix. lol

It's always such a pleasure to see uploads from you, Wendy. I'm wondering if you've ever considered using a vacuum chamber for degassing resin? I have one and also a pressure pot. Might be more trouble than its worth, but the results can't be beat. I love both versions of this mold. Happy Christmas to you and yours!
Thanks Pam. I do have a degassing chamber and have used it but it is hassle. So much so it’s now sitting in my garage unused for ages. I do find with Let’sResin resin you don’t need it. It’s fantastic resin although we can’t get the deep pour resin here sadly. Happy crafting Pam ❤️
I do like the matte mold, which surprises me too. When I first started playing with resin I bought a matte mold. It was a small donut shape that I wanted to do a petri in for pendants. I did eventually find a shiny donut mold but, it’s black so, it’s impossible to see where you’ve dropped what colors and where.😅I didn’t know enough about molds then to even realize I’d bought a baking mold, some baking molds are shiny but, a lot aren’t. Since then I’ve always been careful to look at the pictures and wouldn’t buy it if it was matte. My hubby and I also had a very unfortunate experience with matte paint many years ago. So.. there’s that!😂 Very interesting video! Thanks Wendy.❤
Yeah I’ve had moulds that I wanted to be shiny and were matt 😳 But this time I’m happy I had both 😀😀 It definitely helps to see both sides of the coin 😂😂 Thank you Funo 😀😀👍❤️❤️
I think I like the matte in purple and the shiny with the tinsel, matte just seems more lifelike somehow (nice molds too). I found a sewing seam ripper works real well to trim resin, don't trust myself with the knife 🤕 Didn't know alcohol before you fill the mold works to get rid of bubbles.....GREAT tip!
Hi Wendy. I'm a very new subscriber to your channel, and I love your work! I love the matte dragons. They look like frosted glass, and I prefer that look. I think it would depend on the look you are going for as to which mold you decide to use, matte or shiny. Thanks for your very informative video!

I am like you, I love the Matt mould, the tinsel looks great, thr purple ones are nice too my favourite it the Matt tinsel dragon. I am going to have to have a look at Ali express I have heard good things about it x
The matte mold has like a smoky appearance to it, which could be really cool. Also if you used maybe some Chamaeleon powder, the shiny mold is also cool because it’s shiny and if you use maybe some darker colors in that mold, it’ll look really cool too. they’re both really cool in their own ways so I can’t really help you out to decide which is better lol great video beautiful pieces. It was fun hanging out with you today.
Thanks Lori 😀😀😀 Your colour choices sound really cool 😀😀 I will be doing more with this in the future 😀😀 Just can’t fit everything into 12 minutes 😂😂 Happy crafting and thanks again.
Such a cute dragon I totally see what you mean the matt dragons have a whole other level of detail and I do love them but the purple shiny dragon is my favourite, loved that tinsel it was just gawjuss and so irredescent you could use that incso many different molds and it would look amazing!
I think both shiny and matte molds are great. It depends what you’re making though. I’m making a set of dragon coasters with chameleon powders and used matte molds for the dragons and even after top coating them with clear, they stand out so well because they aren’t shiny. Exactly like you see here. Don’t toss a mold just because it’s lost its shine ! Just get creative with it. You might be pleasantly surprised.
@@Toonpish I don't either! 😂 someone asked me "why do you organize your recycle bin?" Lol. That's not recycle that's craft project materials! 😂🤷🏼♀️ why buy a bunch of stuff when most of what you need is "garbage"?! I started out using old eye shadow for mica, packing plastics, all sorts of stuff. I do limit my collection though. It has to fit in a certain area/storage/shelving. If that starts to overflow, things go to the recycle bin. Plus it's fun to think of ways to use things more than once or for different purposes than intended. 😃 Happy crafting to you too, Wendy!
The mate looks fantastic. I haven't resined but im going to very soon,,,, i think ive bought everything needed. This is a whole new venture for me. I was not aware there were two kinds of molds, interesting. I think if I was coloring with mica's, I would prefer matte, but translucent, I'd prefer shiny molds - I think LOL. Thanks for the info - oh, and also, I prefer using a deburring tool for trimming the sharp edges, if I use a nail file, it dulls the finish and I've cut myself one too many times to trust the exacto knife.
I love that mold! I think I really like the matte one too. It kinda of comes out like frosted glass. I love that tinsel, too! It's really amazing! I have an incense burner that looks like your little guy, except he has pins sticking in him like a voodoo doll. It would be cool to have that mold!
I love the matt mold better the matt with the tinsel looks a bit like opal 😍 if you use your shiny molds often enough the will get matt especially the cheap molds from ali express
Love your channel so very much! I'm a mega DRAGON LOVER 💞 I make dragon orgonite with resin, crystals, and different metals 😍 I just found a DRAGON SKULL!!! I'm so excited to use it lol I wonder what a glow in the dark color would look like on the Matte mold??? A video idea maybe??? 😊
That’s a massive amount of glow in the dark mica 😳 But it would look so cool 😎 Thanks Charlie 😀😀 Dragons are the best 😀😀😀❤️❤️ Sounds like your dragons are epic 👍❤️
Bumped into this video, I just bought a quality brand pressure pot, kinda new to this stuff, I want to get into it as a hobby only. Love your video on the how too.
i personnally love the shiny molds over the matte...but i do have a few matte molds that i brush with chameleon powder and fill with black and that is awesome

Or you can very lightly sand shiny pieces 😀😀😀 thanks Natasja 👍❤️
Love your channel so very much! I'm a mega DRAGON LOVER 💞 I make dragon orgonite with resin, crystals, and different metals 😍 I just found a DRAGON SKULL!!! I'm so excited to use it lol I wonder what a glow in the dark color would look like on the Matte mold??? A video idea maybe??? 😊
That’s a massive amount of glow in the dark mica 😳
But it would look so cool 😎
Thanks Charlie 😀😀

i personnally love the shiny molds over the matte...but i do have a few matte molds that i brush with chameleon powder and fill with black and that is awesome
Yes I agree with that totally 😀😀💜👍
Very cool
Thank you Mari 😀😀❤️👍
Ooh Matt looks great, silly question but how would the matt mould be with the chameleon flakes?
They would be great as I usually use mica on matt moulds 😀❤️👍
Thank you Jackie. ❤️
