- I am not a mold making expert and only been doing it a few years as a designer toy maker. However people do ask me a lot so I decided to share the little I do know in a video explaining different things I consider when planning out a mold. This is not a video that shows how to pour or build mold boxes, more an me explaining what i've learnt over the years and why i make certain decisions when designing my molds.
I hope this is helpful for someone and apologize in advance that it's very likely I don't know enough to answer any technical questions you might have.
This might be one of the best, most well explained videos on mold making I've found on UA-cam so far.
It's great work and criminal that it's got so few views.
Very kind if you to say. I don't focus much on my you tube channel it's been shared a little more on Instagram =). But I'm just happy to pass in the small amount I've learnt in this short time.
You're a saint. I'm creating my first mold for a prototype I'm working on and had no idea where to begin. Thanks so much!
Excellent presentation. The drawings really help
Thank you so much, Jessica. I am making two-part molds for casting complex rock climbing holds and your lucid explanations here have helped me a lot.
Not Christmas but enjoyed this one!
Great explanation on making production molds. Getting consistent castings is all about the molding process.
I think this sculpt and the way you go about it, is pretty cool. Thanks for sharing your work.
Great video. Probably one of the best I've seen! Will be super useful for my keycap making!! Thank you!!!!
a really really comprehensive explanation about moulds, thank you!!!
thank you so much for this video, it's so concise and well done and professional, and it's definitely helped me come to grips with silicone molds as a total newbie. I'm a 3d artist and my partner is a 2d illustrator and designer and we're really interested in making art toys but the mold making has always been something that I just couldn't wrap my head around (you'd think a 3d artist would be good at thinking in 3d space but NOPE). Watching this has definitely helped me understand the general process and I'm sure that when we finally get around to making molds, the tips and tricks will be totally invaluable to new art toy makers!
Lovely tutorial, need more of these
Love how in-depth you went it this video
Whoot whoot!! So glad to see you started a you tube channel!! Binge worthy material.
So helpful!! I really love to hear you talk. Beautiful accent.
Glad you find it useful.
I just started to learn to make molds and casting, and your video is really really really helpful! thank you, Jessica!
I'm wondering if I got a pressure pot, do I need to make a vent?
Thank you so much for this video! Fantastic. I would looooove any insight or clarity on how to configure the joint/interlocking section when making the mould for your “emo cloud” - I’m struggling to wrap my mind around fitting two (or more) casts together….
This was really helpful! Thanks for sharing this.
Brilliant explanation...thanks for sharing this

This is underrated af
Great video, Jessica. I follow you on Instagram and this just popped up on my UA-cam home page. This is really good info for people to have. Well done!
Oh thank you =).
This was amazing! Thank you.
Excellent video, thank you!
This was great, thank you.
Great video! I learned a lot.
You are awesome
very insightful 😍
thanks a lot!!!
how is this video not being recommended more for the hobbist?
What kind or brand of clay you use to make the model or figure?
I prefer working with polymer clay for my masters only cos that my personal preference. I normally use Super sculpey. But there are lots of other ways to make the master sculpt, 3d prints, expoxy clay, oil based art clay (non sulfur) & wax are the main ones others i hear use.
What an awesome video! You are certainly clear and concise about all aspects with drawings and everything! Thank you for taking the time to make this video...
How would you plan a mold for a spiral rounded object such as this : encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn%3AANd9GcQi5GJDEsUAWVVqGhPPLhfWM1lEtU8PiPlcgg&usqp=CAU
