I agree like the pathfinder now next new cars with no CVT will be the rogue kicks Altima Sentra maxima and versa so all Nissan cars will not have CVT anymore
The new engine is a huge mistake though. It's extremely complex and was designed to work optimally with a cvt, so behind a 9 speed its complexity is absolutely wasted. Nissan needed to keep the v6, I don't see this car doing very well
This looks like such a pleasant car. Nissan let things get too old and that probably helped kill their brand reputation. I really like this Murano. All those reimagined bongs and chimes it makes. They sound like something youd get out of a luxury yacht or one of the Bentleys or Rolls cars. Those details are overlooked to this day by every other automaker other than Rivian. So hurry up because they say Nissan has 12 months to be bankrupt. They're trying to cooperate with Honda and Mitsubishi. Cooperation with Renault ended.
This seems like a nice car: smooth driving, good fit and finish, nice styling, especially the interior. A sophisticated, upscale take on the mid-size SUV. Now all Nissan has to do is get 110% behind it. Promote the heck out of it, get it on everyone's radar screen. This could be the start of Nissan pulling itself out of the hole it's in.
The new design is really nice, sad they got rid of the V6 but at least they finally ditched the CVT. Not sure how reliable the VC turbo 4 cylinder will be in the Murano but we'll see I guess.

Murano Platinum in the previous generation was about the same price as the new one for 2025, just a tiny below $50k fully loaded (accessories not included). For the previous generation with all the bells and whistles it came with in the Platinum trim, $49K was a steal compared to cars of its class, especially when you consider the time (2015+) a lot of those features were only seen in luxury cars. Keeping it about the same price as it was when the 2015 model was released is not too bad, especially considering no more CVT.
I got to see a red and a white 2025 Murano yesterday at one of our local Nissan dealers and it looks sharp. Definitely want to check it out if I buy a new car in the future.
The 9 speed that Nissan uses is from Mercedes Benz. They licensed it as a Jatco. Mercedes makes solid transmissions. The 5 speed in the 2nd gen frontier is bullet proof. It is also from Mercedes Benz
Nissan also uses the 9HP from ZF in the Infiniti QX60/Nissan Pathfinder. Considering those are now powered by the 2.0 VC-Turbo, I’d bet this is using the ZF unit rather than the MB/Jatco one.
Everyone in this reply section is bagging on Genesis but we're talking about Genesis/Hyundai vs NISSAN of all cars so I'll gladly take Genesis over this
This is targeted to go against the Lexus RX which gets 21 city, 29 hwy and the Mazda CX70 Which gets 25 mpg combined. Which is about the same as the new Murano. 2026 will have a new PHEV Rogue.
First! Thanks for the upload. I've seen two videos on the new Murano already, but looking forward to your take on it as well! I'll just update this as I'm watching your (very thorough) review. The tech looks good and well integrated. The materials truly look premium. The matching blue leather is kinda quirky but interesting. The interior lighting is a plus... very, very nice! The boot is fairly big, spare tire is awesome... but why is it so difficult for Nissan to put a ski hatch in there? What if you have a long fishing rod, skis and you don't want to lose one passenger seat? Too bad. They went Lexus NX there -- it's a letdown.
Interior color seems to be slowly making a comeback, I’m here for it. Hopefully we can start moving away from gray and black both on the interior and exterior.

No one’s hating on 4 bangers, they just don’t want 4 bangers in vehicles that are already too large for them because that’ll only stress them out more. Something the size of the Murano shouldn’t get a 4 cylinder because of that said reason. A naturally aspirated V6 does not only feel more refined but it’ll also have a long life.
I kinda see what you're saying with the Brera design comparison haha, never though I'd compare the design of a Nissan and Alfa. This thing definitely looks funky though its not my cup of tea.
