I just love how you live life so fearlessly and without hesitation. It's truly a blessing to have that. The cedar you got for the shanty boat was just perfect for it. What a wonderful video! Your adventures are always uplifting!
Great news that the motor started right up. I have not been as lucky with our Shanty Boat build. We've had it in the water five times and five times the motor wouldn't propel us for. So I think we are looking to get a new motor before I built it out. Maybe I should look at a Yamaha. I have all the walls and roof built in my workshop and most of the interior figured out and built. Love the scratch and sniff video! -Chris
Nice to see your heading home, got a package coming your way. I enjoyed your video today watching Wavey, as I just lost my beloved Leo who always sat under my desk when I watch your videos. He had some mass tumors on his chest that spread. WE spent $1,200 to have the first one removed in January but 4 weeks later they came back with a vengeance. Please keep Wavey in your videos and you will never know until he is gone just how NOT useless he was to you.
I'm so.sorry to hear you lost your best friend knot, it's happened to me also (my beloved Emma).before Wavey here. The "useless" stuff is all teasing. She's far from it.
I am lucky because I have a trail we traveled up to our community mail boxes everyday to get the mail and a favorite beach nearby that he used to burry his ball in the sand and then dig it up again, that I can go and spread his ashes.
Looking forward to this build series . I’ve helped in milling a fair amount western red cedar from Northern California . There is something about the aromatics of cedar puts your soul at ease . Possible channel addition to your outro’s at the end do a beagle howl as a final addition to each video .
I grew up in the former furniture capital of the world. It gave me such an appreciation for the Cedar in the closets and drawers. I had hoped to score some Cedar for at least one wall of Shantilla but the Governess seems destined to keep me locked in the lower peninsula. My granddaughter lives in Champion. I sure hope to be in the UP to see her very soon. Hopefully I can ride over and compare some notes on the solar and marine radio needs for a run to Florida. Love the Harris Flotebote rails. I recognized the rear rails on The Shanty Beagle. Same color as my 68 Floatilla the Hun. Congrats on procuring some Cedar. It’s perfect for the interior.
When I made a 4' X 4' "W" planter for my sister in law for her birthday I built it our of Red Cedar. My shop smelled great after I planed all of it. Look wonderful. That will mask the foot odor just fine..LOL. And wet dog.
lol you said you were going to give a clue on where the cedar came from and then you just went and said it. That must have been a drive but definitely worth it. Glad you made it home safe, enjoyed your conversation with Scotty.
Hey following all your builds and adventures but I have a question. Why did you abandon this 30’ lil hobo? You gave me the bug on doing a houseboat adventure but having trouble locating something worth starting with and I like the hobo better than anything so far. Heavy gauge tritoon or barge would be better but locating so far not happening. I also want the trailering option but I am located very near the Arkansas river below Muskogee Ok. navigable water way. Your thoughts?
Yeah, a heavy aluminum would probably be better. The problem with the 30 Foote was it was calm water only. The 26 footer (The Shanty Beagle) was very different. Very capable
Hi Karen, it takes up a lot of room at my house, and I like having a reason to go the mile across the bridge and work over there;) I certainly thought about it and would have saved me 350 bucks! ;)

I like the new style with the vlog and narrating combo.
You my friend are a true Yooper biker. Of course, there is one other possibility...you've gone round the bend.
I love watching Wavey's ears flap in the wind!
Beautiful country.

you make life fun ! :)
Going across the Mackinac bridge on a bike must be pretty freaky...likely scary...lmao. I didn't like doing it much in a car.
👍
Thanks for the contact we really enjoy it
That upper deck is tight
My mom was from Trout Lake
Does that beagle have any clue as to what a charmed life he lives
Imagine Greta saying "how dare you!" When I point out she's a girl Dave :) lol

In what way was it more for calm water?
The pronunciation I picked up for Huron from long ago is closer to "Hear on" than "H ur on".
I think you might be right ;) thanks for the correction. I'm a midwest transplant
Brenton,
If you have a moment check you’re Gmail account. Glad to see you are getting started on the Super Shanty!
👍🏼🏍🖖🏽😮😊🐈✌🏽
So, what happened to the super shanty build??
I decided that wasn't the build for me and sold it to a friend. Did you see the Beagle Barge build I have going now?
Its a yamaha,,, the best
Why aren't you working at your house? Seems to me it would be closer to tools and work shop.

Stripper vid at 2:00 it's useless;-)

Cool video. I do like the smell of cedar reminds me of a pencil. Do they even make pencils anymore?
